Compleet gestoord dit! Verkrachte popsongs en piepende harsh noise wisselen elkaar af. Bizar maar lekker!

Dotåbåtå - Failed Forestry (3", ltd. ??)
Is nog in de maak, maar ouder materiaal van deze knakker klonk veelbelovend genoeg! Doet doorgaans in doomy noise, duister en bruut!

Op 11 November komt het nieuwe album van Dir en grey uit, Uroboros. Het geluid van Uroboros zou een compromis tussen het oude en het nieuwe Dir en grey geluid zijn. Volgens gitarist Kaoru word de sfeer op Uroboros nog donkerder dan die op The Marrow Of A Bone, maar ook orientaalser en religieuzer (denk hierbij aan de vocale solo's van Kyo). De hoes ziet er in ieder geval veelbelovend uit:




Ongeveer twee maanden later komt de beste metalband van allemaal Saxon ook met een nieuw album, genaamd 'Into The Labyrinth'. Into The Labyrinth zal voortborduren op het moderne Saxon geluid van Lionheart en The Inner Sanctum. De eerste download-single van Into The Labyrinth genaamd 'Live to Rock' komt uit op 17 oktober.




Een dag na Dir en grey komt ook Yui met een nieuw album genaamd 'My Short Stories'. Eigenlijk is het niet helemaal nieuw, het is namelijk een verzameling van B-kanten. Misschien is het nog een beetje te vroeg in haar carrière voor zoiets maar ik klaag niet, ik heb Yui's B-kanten altijd al haar beste nummers gevonden. Na de release van My Short Stories kapt Yui er trouwens een jaartje mee om in alle rust aan nieuw materiaal te werken, ik was kennelijk niet de enige die realiseerde dat ze de laatste tijd wat achteruit ging. Tot over een jaar Yui Hoe de hoes er uit gaat zien is nog niet bekend. Dan Yui zelf maar

Enya komt aankomende maand met een nieuw album; 'And Winter Came'
Op 7/10 november zal hij hier gereleased worden (7 dan is hij via bol.com al beschikbaar zag ik)

And Winter Came is the upcoming seventh full-length studio album from Irish New Age singer Enya. The album was announced by Enya via her official site on September 12, 2008, and is set for release on November 10, 2008. The songs on the album primarily have a Christmas or winter theme.

The album will consist of 12 tracks: ten English songs, which are all original compositions, plus "Oiche Chiuin" being sung in Gaelic and '"Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel" in Latin. "Oiche Chiuin" is a version of the standard "Silent Night" and is a rare occasion of Enya re-recording a previously released track; she had previously released the song in the early 1990s.

An announcement on Enya's official website, www.enya.com, on September 18, 2008 confirmed that the first single off the album, also to be released on November 10, will be "Trains and Winter Rains".

new Hoarse releases AXEMRANGERS 3", IKODORA '65 3" and HORSING bizcard now available!

The new Hoarse batch is out and these are some doozies!

First of all there’s AxemRangers’s A Crack in the Concrete 3”. US noise on crack & tik & coke & i don't know what else! Ranging from raped pop songs to pure fucking harsh material, this is a: outright fucking crazy and b: outright one of the best fucking things in noise this year and c: ya momz.. Packaged in plastic sleeves with 20 different cracks for covers. Obviously limited to 20 pieces, so you can either get it now or regret it forever! So psyched to put this out and I’m sure you’re all psyched to hear it!




Secondly there’s another 3”, this time by some Dutch guy calling himself Ikodora ‘65. Purely analogue harsh stuff to make you feel all nostalgic and wish that Masami Akita would drop his digital act (DROP IT!). The sounds here are excellent and so is the packaging. Small DVD-cases (think back to the Torturing Nurse release) with holy cards (Jesus and his many friends) on handcrafted, black Japanese paper (how awesome right). Also includes Xeroxed b&w insert. Hand-numbered on back. How does this not say ‘fucking awesome’.




Lastly there’s a new horsing disc out, this time a bizcard release. Sounds completely different from the first horsing release, which was manic noise with horns; this time it’s one short track of mixed field recordings and slight, silent melodies, resonating voices, softness. Packaged in small plastic sleeves with eight portraits from Tuol Sleng prison hidden under transparency paper; fleeting, ghostly.

“These […] photographs of helpless Cambodians facing death were taken in a secret prison in Phnom Penh, between the middle of 1975 and the first few days of 1979. Several of the prisoners have just had their blindfolds removed. As they stare at their captors, they have no idea where they are, who is taking the pictures or what will happen to them.

None of them was ever released. After torture and interrogation, sometimes stretching over several months, all of these men, women and children were brutally put to death.”

Limited to only 8 pieces.

Die Heilige prenten zijn mooi

Thanks, die vind ik zelf ook erg mooi geworden! In nauwe samenwerking met Jelle zelf ontworpen. Die andere zijn ook erg fijn, trouwens. Mijn eigen release in deze batch vind ik zelf ook erg mooi, in alles klein, stil; rustige track, bizcard-formaat, artwork zonder titel of artiest, enkel die prachtige maar tegelijkertijd hartverscheurende portretten begraven onder een laag kalkpapier. Die AxemRangers is verder ook gewoon tof, zelfde formaat als Fuck, the Retarded Girl alleen nu dan met scheuren in beton op de cover. Blijft een fijn formaatje, die 3".

Is er nog een ethische afweging gemaakt met betrekking tot die portretten van Cambodjaanse gevangenen ?

Welk een ethische afweging bedoel je, een persoonlijke of politieke? Het mag in ieder geval (hopelijk) duidelijk zijn dat het niet exploitatief bedoeld is o.i.d.. Heb zelf een bijzondere interesse in de 20ste eeuwse communistische en socialistische regimes en bewegingen in Zuid-Oost Azië waaruit de keuze voor het thema voortkomt. Zo ook de Khmer Rouge in Cambodja, welke in gevangenis S-21 (Tuol Sleng) systematisch hun toekomstige slachtoffers vastlegden. Een schokkende, gruwelijke massadocumentatie van gedoemde zielen. Die intense treurigheid, van mensen verworden tot geesten, heb ik geprobeerd in beeld (de verpakking, vandaar de foto's onder kalkpapier) en geluid vast te leggen, om zo juist dat trieste feit aandacht te schenken en zo hopelijk een waardig tribute te scheppen, één die in kleinschaligheid de massa van de tragedie dichter bij huis probeert te brengen.

met een oplage van 8 zal het met de exploitatie wel meevallen.

wat voor muziek verbind je hier met hun beeltenis ? mijn veronderstelling is noise, maar ik wordt graag verbaasd.

Nee, de GHOSTS release is totaal niet noisy. Het is opgebouw uit voornamelijk field recordings gemixed met wat kalme melodie,ambient/drony. Totaal niet abrasive o.i.d., vond ik ook niet de manier om met het thema om te gaan.

Na de dubbele live-plaat die over twee weken uitkomt, gaat er binnen afzienbare tijd ook een nieuw full-length album van Belle & Sebastian verschijnen! Het gaat om het project 'God Help the Girl', dat wellicht uiteindelijk gaat uitmonden in een film (zie http://www.belleandsebastian.com/diary.php?did=237). Maar voorlopig zit dus in ieder geval de plaat eraan te komen. Uit het dagboek van Stuart Murdoch, op website van de band:

Five Elements Music - Kapotte Muziek By

Komende vrijdag op Moving Furniture Records.

In mei van dit jaar zijn Roel Meelkop en Frans de Waard voor een paar concerten als Kapotte Muziek naar Rusland geweest.
Van het optreden dat zij in St. Petersburg hebben gedaan is een bewerking gemaakt door de Russische muzikant Five Elements Music welke uitkomt op het jonge Nederlandse label Moving Furniture Records.
Dit album is de eerste in een serie van experimentele ambient releases die allemaal gelimiteerd zullen zijn tot 100 stuks.

Evenaren van hun meesterwerk REIGN IN BLOOD zullen ze er niet met doen, maar dit nummer beloofd echt veel voor het voorlaatste slayer album, dat in lente 2009 moet uitkomen.

Inderdaad klinkt erg goed, ik had een mp3 versie toegestuurd gekregen van iemand waarbij de solo en de zang te zacht stond maar ik hoor dat dat hier niet zo is. Araya ook goed bij stem trouwens, ik heb vertrouwen in het album

Friends and fans,
The Empyrean is my new record and will be released worldwide via Record Collection on January 20th 2009. It was recorded on and off between December 2006 and March 2008. It is a concept record that tells a single story both musically and lyrically. The story takes place within one person, and there are two characters. It contains a version of Tim Buckley's, 'Song To The Siren' and the rest of the songs are written by me. My friend Josh plays on it, as does Flea. It also features Sonus Quartet, Johnny Marr and The New Dimension Singers. I'm really happy with it and I've listened to it a lot for the psychedelic experience it provides. It should be played as loud as possible and it is suited to dark living rooms late at night.
