heb eergister cd gekocht in de bilbo (speciale opening om middernacht), petje gekregen erbij en poster (niet veel vets maar how!)
de cd hoes is magnifiek (kzal niets verklappen just see for yourself!!)
en dan de muziek, eerste luisterbeurt wat ontgoocheld, maar dat is altijd zo bij moeilijke muziek, nu al voor de 5de keer gehoord, (en nu bezig met luisteren op studio brussel (herhaling) naar de introductie van de cd met interview van MJK)
na 5de keer toch overtuigd dat het weer een BRILJANTE cd is. looking forward to see them in rock werchter!!!!

stond ook aan de bilbo hiervoor en ast eindelijk aan mij was wassem uitverkocht godver*****, daar meer als uur voor in de rijd gestaan! maar soit dag erna in jj gevonde met ook alles erbij en 10 cent goedkoper
hij is wel ff blijven ligge, ga er dit weekend is werk van maken! eerste indruk; toch wel veel rustige stukken (wings 1 en 2), maar zullen zien ...

Ik wil persee naar tool toe.
Ik ben eigenlijk niet van plan ze te gaan bezoeken op Pinkpop dus zie ik mij genoodzaakt naar Dusseldorf te gaan.
Ik las al dat verschillende mensen dit gaan doen.

Zou iemand mij eventueel mee kunnen nemen in de auto naar dit toolconcert? Ik zou dat echt super op prijs stellen!

Wat is er mis met deze band? ik bedoel ze hebben zon vette gitaarsound en lekkere drumms, en dan gaan ze met indianen geluiden kloten en overdreven lange intro's die niet eens mooi zijn, allemaal rare geluiden, je wordt GEK, HELEMAAL GEK van al die troep. Hoe kunnen jullie mensen hiernaar luisteren? Als ze nou alle nummers hadden gemaakt als 1,2 en 5 dan was ut bijna een 3,92 waard.

Alles samengevat: Kut muziek, ongeinspireerde bagger wat niks met muziek te maken heeft. Je zou maar een componist zijn en lopen zwoegen op een mooie melodie, en dan maken die mafkezen, WANT DAT ZIJN HET, die maken het KAPOT, en waarom? WAAROM? omdat ze lui zijn, te lui om te repeteren zoals elke andere muzikant moet, maar neej: ik ben een mongool alles wat ik doe is toch wel leuk, tja met zon instelling blijf je zwakzinnig, vind je ut gek?

Vintage, misschien ipv door de 3D bril, eens door een roze bril kijken?

Je kunt ook eventueel naar Luxemburg gaan. Ik woon er en als Tool fan komt me dat heel goed uit. Is nog niet uitverkocht (kun je het voorstellen). Zitplaatsen met perfect uitzicht, ideaal om een Tool concert te volgen.

je hoeft geen fan te zijn om te horen dat het juist geen ongeinspireerde ,niet gerepeteerde bagger is
(tis niet nodig maar vergelijk het eens met een handvol zeer succesvolle bands die werkelijk niet meer zijn dan een uit de hand gelopen maketingproduct)

als je een reactie plaatst op bepaalde muziek, luister er dan eerst eens even naar, liefst een paar keer, en kom met behoorlijke argumenten die ook te onderbouwen zijn

Jij hebt het wel niet zo begrepen op genreoverschreidende muziek, zo te zien. Ik denk dat een album met 80 minuten van 'Jambi' bas echt 'bagger' zou zijn, dan kan je beter naar St. Anger gaan luisteren.

Ik snap de ophef ook niet zo. Het is wel aardige muziek, maar wat Tool vooral doet is uitblinken in het opstapelen van (op zich wel mooie) spanningsbogen die uiteindelijk nergens toe leiden. Vroeger wisten ze me nog wel 's te raken, maar met die berekende sound van nu kan ik niet zoveel.

Welke andere muziekgroep heeft tabla's geïntegreerd, heeft zulke Oosters aandoende zanglijnen zoals bv. in Reflection van op Lateralus? Ze zijn zóveel meer dan gewoon 'een of andere heavy metal band', dat je wel moet van genreoverstijgend spreken.

Voor mij is het gewoon een rockband. Natuurlijk zijn er wel invloeden uit andere genres, maar het is niet de hoofdmoot. Overigens gebruikt The Tea Party ook tabla's, om maar 's een redelijk vergelijkbare band te noemen.

Het is toch een magistraal meesterwerkje geworden.
Er zit voor mij alleen 1 klein nadeeltje aan, bij Wings for Marie (Part 1) en 10,000 Days (Wings Part 2) moet ik de volumeknop toch nog wat hoger gooien voordat ik daar ook heerlijk van kan genieten, raar? maar waar.
Als ik dat dan gedaan blijft er voor mij een 5* album over.

Ik durf nu al te wedden dat ik The Tea Party niets vind vergeleken met Tool, ook al heb ik er nog niks van gehoord. Haha. Ik zal het wel eens pindakazen. Weet je waarom ik dit zeg? Omdat er vorig jaar een band op stond die volgens veel recencenten dondersveel op A Perfect Circle leek. Die band genaamd "Esoterica" stond zelf op de luisterpaal. Het nummer exposed leek wel een kloon van A perfect circle's "The Hollow", helaas werd ik bedroef. Ik hoorde geen maynard maar een 'standdaardstem'. Het hele album door en al snel trok ik mijn conclusie dat een band als A Perfect Circle na-apen alleen maar slecht is. Ik kreeg er een afschuw van omdat A Perfect Circle zoveel beter en gewoon punt uniek is. Ik zie niets zoals Tool of A Perfect Circle. Ook niet zo van "Hee dat lijkt erop" nee!

Meer dan een week geleden deze CD on-line besteld, samen met die van Pearl Jam bij de FreeRecordShop.

Krijg ik vandaag(de originele releasedate) een mail dat de CD's nog niet in winkels zijn aangekomen door koninginnedag.

Lees ik tot mijn schrik op deze site dat zowat iedereen behalve ik, Tool al op 28 april heeft gekocht.
Ik bestel juist iets om op de releasedate zeker te weten dat ik er niet naast grijp!
Ik bestel dus echt NOOIT meer iets bij de *@!!# FRS!!!

De FRS zuigt ook heel erg als het om internetbestellingen gaat. Duurt vaak heel erg lang voordat iets binnen is. Dat was vroeger wel anders daar.

Ik vind het album ontzettend goed. Toch blijf ik erbij dat Aenima het beste album is, maar 10,000 Days is samen met Laterlus een goede tweede. Dus meer dan het wachten waard geweest.

Ik las wat berichten op dit forum over "de code" die zich zou bevinden in dit album (o.a. in Lost Keys, Rosetta Stoned en de uiteindelijke onthulling in Viginti Tres). Ik heb wat gezocht via google en daarbij kwam ik hieronder volgende tegen. Misschien komt het jullie luisterplezier ten goede....

Trouwens ergens las ik ook dat Maynard wellicht bekeerd is, gezien zijn teksten in 10,000 days en Right in Two. Laat ik zo reageren: Maynard is meestal cynisch en daarmee bedoeld hij meestal het tegenovergestelde van wat hij zingt. Trouwens het geheim achter het nummer Viginti Tres wijst ook in een totaal andere richting dan een bekering.... En door Viginti Tres op te nemen als laatste nummer kan dit zeker als een valide argument gezien worden dat Maynard ver weg is van bekering in tegendeel....

The number 23 appears in many mysterious coincidences but only to those who notice it.The 23 Enigma is a belief that the number 23 is of particular or unusual significance, especially in relation to disasters.

Unusual circumstances being linked to 23 are mentioned by William S. Burroughs. He tells the story of meeting a ferry captain named Clark who claimed to have sailed the same route without an accident for 23 years. That very day, however, the ferry sank. Later that day, Burroughs writes, he was thinking about Clark's ferry accident when he heard that a Flight 23 on a New York-Miami route had crashed. According to Burroughs, the pilot's name for the flight had also been Clark. Burroughs began collecting incidences of the number 23 in a scrapbook and referred to them in his writings.

The 23 Enigma can also be traced to Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea's The Illuminatus Trilogy (there called the "23/17 phenomenon"), Wilson's Cosmic Trigger I: Final Secret of the Illuminati (there called "The Law of 23s"), as well as to the Principia Discordia. In these works, 23 is considered to be alternately lucky, sacred to the goddess Eris, or just plain weird. The Principia quotes "The Law of Fives" in explaining this, as 2+3=5. The electronica group The KLF, who referenced The Illuminatus Trilogy extensively, also contrived the appearance of the number 23 throughout their work, in promotional material and in the cataloguing of their releases.

The link to disasters also corresponds with hexagram 23 of the "I Ching", P'o, translated as "Splitting Apart." The hexagram pictures a time in which inferior people surreptitiously overthrow the superior.

Though certain numbers have long been linked to unusual coincidences (13 and 17 also being favorites), the 23 Enigma could be just an example of apophenia. There is also the fact that 23, being a fairly low number, occurs often in the media, current events, and daily life. Skeptics point out that it appears probably no more often in conjunction with catastrophe or coincidence than 22 or 24, while believers often enjoy hunting for ways in which 23 is "revealed."

Serendipity: Sarah & Jonathan 'randomly' select floor 23 in the Waldorf Astoria elevators.
Kate & Leopold: Kate has 23 minutes to jump into a time vortex before it closes.
The Matrix Reloaded: in the opening code sequence, the final, most prominent number is 23, reversed as if looking from inside a mirror. The film was also released 5/2003.
The Fifth Element: A references to five (5 = 2 + 3), and the story is set in the year 2263, the 23rd century.


Television references

23 is one of "the numbers" on ABC's television show Lost. The series is 4 8 15 16 23 42. 8 + 15 = 23. 42 - 23 + 4 = 23. 42 + 4 = 46, which is double 23. However, these numbers form a spanning set of integers, and as such, any number can be obtained with some combination of these numbers.
In episode 4 of Life On Mars (BBC, 2006), Detective Sam Tyler (who finds himself transported back in time to 1973), goes to the house where he lived as a child, which is number 23.
Purple 23 is the location where Kramer sets the air conditioner in the parking garage episode of Seinfeld.


True with stretched applicability

Earth's period of rotation (sidereal day) is really 23 hours and 56 minutes, not exactly 24 hours. (That's 4 minutes shorter than a solar day since a day is defined as the time between two noons on the same meridian, which is slightly longer than the period of rotation because meanwhile the Earth is revolving around the Sun.) However, 24 hours is an arbitrary measurment of a day.

The first Moon landing, Apollo 11 was in the Sea of Tranquility at 23.63 degrees East. The second landing, Apollo 12, was in the Ocean of Storms, 23.42 degrees West. Also, 11 + 12, the numbers of the missions, add up to 23. Also, 42 + 63 = 105, 10 being a multiple of 5 and 5 = 2 + 3. Again, this is stretched as far as the degrees, and there are at least 11 pairs of integers that add to 23, not counting negative integers or zero.
Earth's axis is off by 23.5 degrees. This is a case of stretched applicability, and it depends on using the arbitrary figure of a circle having 360 degrees to come up with an answer near 23.

If you add up all the digits in 9/11/2001 you get 23. To make 23, you must add "11" as normal, but "2001" must be added as the numbers "2" and "1". Also arbitrarily implies decimal numerals.
Pi's first six digits (3.14159) added together equal 23. True, however arbitrarily implies decimal numerals. Also arbitrarily selects six digits.

The human biorhythm is 23 days long. Though Hermann Swoboda and Wilhelm Fliess, the two doctors who first posited biorhythm, did determine that a human's 'physical cycle' was 23 days long, biorhythmics is at best a highly speculative and subjective area of study.
It takes 23 seconds for blood to circulate throughout the entire body. Blood is a suspension and does not flow at the same rate for all of its components. Furthermore, there is no single path blood takes when it circulates. For both these reasons, verification is both difficult and meaningless. In any case, the "second" is an arbitrary fraction of 1/86400 of a solar day.
The human arm has 23 joints in it. Unconfirmed, and confirmation depends on the definition of joint.
William Shakespeare was born on 23 April, died on 23 April and had his first portfolio published in 1623. His first play Titus Andronicus was performed January 23rd 1594. The first song on the first side of the first Beatles album took 23 takes. That would be "I Saw Her Standing There" from Please Please Me, but in reality, the song that took the most takes was "Love Me Do," at fifteen.
666 is said to be taken from 2/3 = 0.666. Very unlikely; see Number of the Beast for its history. Besides, 2/3 is 0.6 periodic or 0.667 by approximation. Actually, 333/500=0.666.

COMMENTARY

Both "23" and "Skidoo" are American words meaning "Get out". This chapter describes the Great Work under the figure of a man ridding himself of all his accidents.

He first leaves the life of comfort; then the world at large; and, lastly, even the initiates.

In the fourth section it is shown that there is no return for one that has started on this path.

The word OUT is then analysed, and treated as a noun.

Besides the explanation in the note, O is the Yoni; T, the Lingus; and U, the Hierophant; the 5th card of the Tarot, the Pentagram. It is thus practically identical with IAO.

23 the Magick Number

32 is the number of total manifestation. It is Ichid - ego/self - the prism through which is projected phenomenal manifestation on the obverse of the Tree. 32 is of the Tree of Life (obverse / manifestation / being / phenomena).

23 is the reverse of 32. Hence, 23 is the number emblematic of the other or reverse side of the Tree. 23 is the essence of the Tree of Death (reverse / non-manifestation / non-being / noumena). 23 'manifests' by dividing itself (into being): 2 ÷ 3 = .666 (the Beast). As 666 is to 32, so 23 is to the reverse of 666 that is 999. - The Beast 'made flesh' is a reflection or ingress of 23 / 999 (noumena) into phenomena as 32 / 666.

On another level, 23 signals the chaotic state between two stable states. As such, it fits into the category of 'in-between-ness'. It is therefore one of those things which is Not. 23 is one from the demonic hosts of Non-being about to invade Being.

The 93 Current will split apart the unconsciously created world we inhabit. 23 is not identical with 93, but an emanation from it.

23 -The Number of Physical Immortality

Each of the prime numbers has its own identity. 23 is the number for physical immortality, everlasting life, eternal youth, and the secret of the Holy Grail. Prime numbers are those numbers that can not be divided by any other number. Other primes: 11 is the number of magick, 13 is feminine unity, 17 is masculine unity.

The association of 23 with physical immortality has been developed in the writings of Aleister Crowley, Robert Anton Wilson, and myself. Crowley gave meaning to all the primes between 11 and 100. He felt that 23 was the frequency of the life force at its highest in nature, at the spring equinox. For mystics, immortal life is present in nature, and to find life at its highest vibration anywhere is to touch the secret of the Grail. Wilson, who is greatly influenced by Crowley, made 23 into his supreme number for synchronicity. Be aware of 23 as it appears in your life, and it will guide you along your pathway of magick and greater life.

It seems as if the universe has mysteriously placed 23 in many locations to act as signposts for the journey. Thankfulness is the quality of physical immortality. Try to generate this virtue in every environment in which you notice the magickal prime, 23.

Ik ben nog eens verder gaan nadenken en zoeken m.b.t. de mogelijke betekenis van de nummers Lost Keys, Rosetta Stoned en Viginti Tres en hoe deze in verband gebracht kunnen worden met de boodschap in Faaip de Oiad. Zoals jullie vast weten is dat laatste nummer van Lateralus een opname van een telefoongesprek (waaraan later de percussie van Danny Carey werd toegevoegd) tussen een radiozender en een voormalig werknemer van de beruchte Area 51. Het einde van het nummer markeert ook het einde van het telefoongesprek. De verbinding werd op dat moment ook echt verbroken met de radiozender. Of het bericht authentiek is, is onduidelijk. Danny Carey beweert dat het op de radio is geweest en heeft hiervan een opname gemaakt. Daarnaast beweert hij dat het gesprek ineens werd afgebroken alsof iemand wilde voorkomen dat de waarheid boven tafel kwam.

De tekst van Faaip de Oiad (is overigens Henoch* voor Stem van god, dit is erg belangrijk m.b.t. de diepere betekenis van Viginti Tres, wat gezien kan worden als )volgt hieronder:

“I, I don´t have a whole lot of time. Um, OK, I´m a former employee of Area 51. I, I was let go on a medical discharge about a week ago and, and… (chokes) I´ve kind of been runnin across the contry . Damn, I don´t know where to start, they´re, they´re gonna, um, they´ll triangulate on this position really soon.

OK, um, um, OK, what we´re thinking of as, as aliens, they´re extradimensional beings, that, an earlier precursor of the, um, space program they made contact with. They are not what they claim tob e. Uh, they´ve infiltrated a, a lot of aspects of, of, of the military establishment, particularly the Area 51.

The disasters that are comimg, they, the military, I´m sorry, the government knows about them. And there´s a lot of safe areas that they could begin moving the population to now. They are not! They want those major population centers wiped out so that the few that are left will be more easily controllable.”

De aliens die ook genoemd worden in Rosetta Stoned zijn volgens Tool extradimensional beings. Dat betekent dus dat ze zich als “geest-verschijningen” manifesteren. Als je de verhalen van Blair op toolband.com volgt weet je dat hij enkele verhalen heeft geschreven over zijn ervaringen op dat gebied. Volgens de wereldbeschouwing van Tool zijn de aliens dus niet wezens die eruit zien als e.t.´s maar bevinden ze zich in een hogere atmosfeer (dimensie) die alleen door mensen bereikt kan worden door het vergroten van een hoger bewustzijn. En dat laatste geschied volgens de Tool verhalen (luister maar eens naar Third Eye) door middel van het gebruik van drugs. Ook Lost Keys verwijst hier trouwens naar.

Wanneer de diepere betekenissen van Viginti Tres in dit licht wordt geplaatst samen met de boodschap die de aliens overbrengen aan de hoofdpersoon die stoned is in Rosetta Stoned, kan je tot de volgende conclusie komen. De boodschap van de aliens in Rosetta Stoned is het eind der tijden, wat ook in Faaip de Oaid genoemd wordt. Dit vindt plaats, en dat is de hoofdpersoon uit Rosetta Stoned vergeten, op 23 december 2012. Dit is de datum dat de wereld volgens de Maya´s zal eindigen. Als het één en ander aan elkaar vastgeknoopt wordt van Faaip de Oaid, waar rampen genoemd worden en Viginti Tres het nummer van de duivel kan het volgende geconcludeerd worden:

Tool wil ons waarschuwen voor een invasie van aliens die vanaf 23 december 2012 zal plaatsvinden, dit zal de startdatum zijn waarna allerlei rampen plaats zullen vinden en er uiteindelijk een klein deel van de mensheid overblijft die makkelijker door de aliens (en de mensen die met hen een deal gesloten hebben? , dit gezien de tekst in Faaip de Oiad) beheerst en overheerst kunnen worden.

Buiten het feit dat Viginti Tres het nummer van de duivel en duistere krachten is, moet de stem die je hoort wellicht de manifestatie van een extradimensional being symboliseren die een boodschap doorgeeft. Wellicht komen daar binnenkort nog verhalen over van Blair op de Tool site. Dus hou die site in de gaten als je de geheimen wilt weten.

*= de taal van de engelen die in een evangelie genoemd wordt, het evangelie van Henoch, wat uiteindelijk niet in de bijbel kwam.

Even tussen haakjes dit is slechts 1 verklaring van de diepere betekenis die in de eerder genoemde tracks van het album verborgen zouden kunnen liggen. Ik zelf geloof niet in dat eind tijd gedoe en dat gedoe met die aliens. Ik weet wel dat Blair van de Tool site er altijd vrij serieus over bezig is. Voor mensen die interesse hebben, er staat een hele verhandeling van Blair over ufo´s e.d. in de newsletter van maart 2006 op de Tool site (www.toolband.com). Dit alles kan trouwens ook weer een methode van Tool zijn om een nog belangrijkere boodschap te verhullen die de werkelijke betekenis van dit album betreft. Zoals alles kan je dat hele gedoe over aliens ook zien als puur symbolisch, zoals alles bij Tool. Zo kijk ik er in ieder geval tegenaan.

Ooooooh, ik ben jarig op de 23ste (en met mij zo'n 200 miljoen anderen op de wereld).

Ja dat denk ik ook, freerecordshop=rukwinkel is gewoon de ramp die Tool voorziet in Viginti Tres ! Voor iedereen die de cd bestelt bij Freerecordshop geldt dat de extradimensional beings de cd onderscheppen en dat deze pas later wordt teruggevonden en bezorgd.

En dan te bedenken dat ik er ook nog even over twijfelde via de free record shop de cd te bestellen.... Omdat de dvd´s van parabola en schism er gratis bij gedaan zouden worden.

Gelukkig heb ik dat niet gedaan en gewoon bij een plaatselijke cd boer op 28 maart gekocht !

Ik leef mee met alleen die wel in de val van de ramp van de free record shop zijn gelopen.

Ach ja, het is ook voor diegene die het interesseert en ik las in eerdere postings dat enkelen dat waren. Maar ff over de playlist.... Gaaf! Wel weinig nummers trouwens. Ik had zelf trouwens eigenlijk verwacht dat ze met Vicarious zouden beginnen. Maar in ieder geval de zeer goede nummers spelen ze! Wel jammer dat ze niet meer van 10,000 Days spelen. Ik hoop dat ze dat op Pinkpop wel doen, dan ga ik ze zien. Ik mis trouwens Right in Two op de setlist, dat is echt een nummer wat ik absoluut live wil meemaken. Het is sowieso al prachtig op de cd, maar live weten ze er altijd weer nog meer gevoel in te leggen. Zoals bij pushit live van Salival.
