Als ik zo al die lijstjes na loop zie ik veel jeugdsentimenten voorbij komen en denk je he die heb ik nog ergens op lp liggen...Goed voor het updaten van mijn collectie ook in de jaren 80 werd heel wat moois gemaakt en ook veel verschillende muziekstijlen uitgerold.Rush, ELO, Simple Minds & U2 maar vooral (voor mij!) was het Talk Talk die toon zette in de jaren '80 en heel wat moois produceerde, daarna werd het stokje over gedragen aan Radiohead en de rest geschiedenis.

Hierzo mijn bescheiden jaren 80-lijstje. Intussen merkte ik al op dat "Night and Day" helaas weinig genoemd wordt. R.E.M. viel met "Green" net uit de boot. Public Enemy vond ik een 20ste plaats waard, als buitenbeentje. En Laibach zweeft daar ook ergens tussen, muziek waar Justin Bieber z'n balletjes van afvallen (als hij die heeft).

De jaren '80!!: Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Speed Metal, New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Black Metal, Death Metal, Poser Metal, ... Werd er buiten Metal toen eigenlijk nog andere (goede) muziek gemaakt? In die tijd voor mij haast niet. Zelfs nu nog sijpelen er maar enkele albums uit andere muziekstromingen mijn top 20 binnen. Eerste decennium ook met een Belgische nominatie, wel eentje van wereldklasse natuurlijk.

Een verlenging van de deadline zorgde toch voor 6 extra lijstjes. Wellicht dat het nog wat verschuivingen teweeg heeft gebracht?

Ik zal later vandaag gaan binnen rekenen, dus de mensen die nog een lijstje in willen leveren, hebben nog een paar uur. Waarschijnlijk zal ik vanavond (niet voor 8 uur) beginnen met de uitslag. Voetbal is afgelopen, de Tour is overdag en Wimbledon heeft de bekende dag rust, dus niemand heeft een excuus de uitslag niet live bij te wonen!

Aantal keer genoemd: 12x / Positie vorig jaar: 49 ( 41 punten)
De eerste nieuwe binnenkomer is een oude bekende. Rain Dogs mocht vorig jaar al in de lijst. Dit jaar voegen we daar Swordfishtrombones aan toe. Het album dat al maanden sukkelt onderin de Top 250.

Aantal keer genoemd: 10x / Positie vorig jaar: 40 ( 45 punten)
En wederom zijn de Marillion-fans verdeelt. Wederom haalt Script for a Jester’s Tear de lijst net niet en wederom haalt Clutching at Straws het juist net wel. De hechte Marillion-schare is absoluut nog aanwezig.

Na vorig jaar niet echt een verrassing. Het debuut met o.a. de klassiekers Mad World (jongeren beter bekend in de vorm van Gary Jules) en Pale Shelter. Een hoog aangeslagen debuut, zo blijkt wel. Het vleugje electronic zouden ze gauw kwijtraken.


37. The Chameleons - Script of the Bridge (1983) ( 60 punten) Hoogste positie: 2
Aantal keer genoemd: 12x / Positie vorig jaar: 41 ( 44 punten)
De tweede nieuwe binnenkomer is er eentje die vorig jaar op een enkel punt de lijst miste. Zelf ken ik wel wat van The Chameleons en het meest bevalt me wel, maar toch heb ik nooit die ene stap gezet. Ik zal hem binnenkort eens maken.


36. Pixies - Surfer Rosa (1988) ( 60 punten) Nr. 1 van: Lying Mouth
Aantal keer genoemd: 12x / Positie vorig jaar: 20 ( 69 punten)
9 punten minder dan vorig jaar zelfs. In tegenstelling tot Doolittle is de waardering voor Surfer Rosa dus gedaald. Nog wel genoeg punten voor de lijst, maar erg makkelijk ging het dit jaar zeker niet. Vorig jaar opende ik dag 2 met dit album, dit jaar een vroege uitschakeling.
