Helaas dit jaar alleen de eerste maanden tijd gehad voor een wekelijkse lijst. Uiteraard heb ik jullie wel op meer onregelmatige basis gevolgd.

Hoewel het niet uit mij Top 50 blijkt was het ook geen slecht jaar voor de Nederbeat. Vele goede platen maar misschien miste wel net de grote klappers. Eerlijkheidshalve moet ik wel bekennen dat ik een aantal grotere Nederbeat bands uit die tijd wel aardig vindt maar niet snel zelf zal opzetten.

Nummer 21 is een twijfelgeval want half in het Nederlands gezongen en had dan in het volgende lijst opgenomen moeten worden. Daar had hij ongetwijfeld hoge ogen gegooid want op Boudewijn de Groot en een paar losse nummers na zoals de # 1, was het mager gesteld met de Nederlandstalige songs. Veel kleinkunst, slagers, Tv -thema's en carnavalsmuziek. Soms leuk om een keer te koren maar met een laag soortelijk gewicht.

Leuk, die Northern Soul lijst, 50tracks.
Jackie Wilson en Larry Williams & Johnny Watson waren bij mij hele grote hits en verder scoorden The Precisions, R. Dean Taylor, Rita And The Tiaras en Tony Galla ook nog aardig. Sowieso haalden de meesten van jouw lijst mijn wekelijkse playlist.
Maar The Antellects, Edward Hamilton & The Arabians en The Ivories heb ik helemaal over het hoofd gezien.
Mooie vondsten.

Worden er nog weeklijstjes verwacht van ons deze week, Justus18?
Of is het zoals bij sommige andere topics alleen de week van jaarlijsten?

Een kans die ik me niet laat ontglippen: met Oud & Nieuw een nieuwe nummer 1 met Opa & De Oudjes. Mijn top10 wordt compleet geblokt door nummers die al 5 of 7 weken in mijn lijst staan. Alleen The Mothers Of Invention weten dat te doorbreken. Zij hebben dan ook het beste nummer van 1967, maar dat is helaas een non-single track.
En wat niche-genres betreft; bij mij inmiddels in de top 20 een prachtig bluesnummer: Johnnie Taylor - Somebody's Sleeping in My Bed. In 1976 haalt hij een nummer 1-hit met Disco Lady.

Waarom er geen singles op Musicmeter opgenomen kunnen worden is een keuze die wat mij betreft ongelukkig is. De site verliest het op dit punt van andere sites als rateyourmusic of discogs.
En waarom een EP die later uitkwam dan de LP met nummers die ook al op de LP staan wel wordt toegelaten vind ik ook niet gelukkig. Voegt namelijk niet veel toe.

In mijn top 40 heb ik in 1967 gekozen voor 7-inch 45-toeren platen. De hele single of EP. Maar impliciet is er voorkeur voor de A-kant. En als die voorkeur wat minder is dan wordt de B-kant of een andere track genoemd.
Er valt ook wel wat te zeggen voor een top 40 met uitsluitend single tracks zoals ze in Amerika doen. Dan heb je pas echte singles. O.a. herman doet dat.
En dan zie je ook hoe "I am the Walrus" zich verhoudt tot "Hello, Goodbye".

Uiteindelijk zit mijn interesse ook het meest bij de losse track.
Is er ergens ter wereld een goede site waar ze muziek vanuit de track benaderen?
Waar de track al eerste op te vinden was (LP, EP of single). De langste lengte van de track. Alternatieve takes. Etc.
Ik weet het niet. Weten jullie het?

In ieder geval hanteer ik de trackbenadering weer in mijn eindejaarslijstjes. Ik ben van plan mijn top 100 van 1967 te publiceren eind februari / begin maart. Dan ben ik grotendeels klaar met mijn indexen van 1967 die eveneens de trackbenadering kennen.

Niet zozeer het publiek maar het is de platenmaatschappij die hier de kwade oorzaak van is.
Flaming (nr. 22) is uitsluitend in Amerika op single uitgebracht maar helaas op het niet als kwalitatief goed bekende staande Tower-label. Op hoofdlabel Capitol stonden de A-categorie artiesten, op sublabel Tower de B-categorie. Je begon daar dus al de wedstrijd met een 3-0 achterstand.
De Amerikanen kregen ook nog een andere versie van de LP "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" dan de Europese. Op de oorspronkelijke Amerikaanse release uit 1967 stond "Flaming" weer niet op. Ook de LP werd geen succes in de VS (eveneens Towerlabel).

In ieder geval waren de heren van Pink Floyd not amused over de Amerikaanse single- en albumrelease op Tower.
Pas met het succes van Dark side of the moon kregen ze van hun platenmaatschappij Capitol voldoende erkenning en promotie maar de heren hadden het helemaal gehad en vertrokken naar een andere maatschappij (Columbia).

Door wat huiselijke beslommeringen een dagje later dan de bedoeling was, maar hier is de nieuwe gezamenlijke weeklijst op basis van 2 nieuwe lijstjes en de prolongaties van de andere lijsten. Er zijn toch wat verschuivingen en er zijn ook 2 nieuwe binnenkomers. De hoogste is een cover van een nummer dat we in de zomer in dit topic tegen kwamen.

Via een bierreclame raakte ik bekend met het nummer in de versie van Kerry Norton.
Het is wel mooi om de Summer Of Love met dit nummer af te sluiten. Verwacht van mij geen gezamenlijke jaarlijst. Ik heb daarvoor de punten niet bijgehouden.

Dit keer aandacht voor the Zombies op nr. 33. Care of Cell stond al in index 24 op nr. 11 en "Friends of mine" in index 19 nr. 13.
Een interessant boek in dit kader is The "Odessey": The Zombies in Words and Images
Een kijkboek met veel foto's en achtergrondinformatie maar ook met commentaar van Tom Petty, die het voorwoord schreef, Brian Wilson, Carlos Santana, Susanna Hoffs, Paul Weller, Graham Nash en leden van Cage the Elephant en Beach House.

Inmiddels zijn we in 1968 beland maar er komen nog minimaal 5 indexen voordat ik klaar ben met 1967.
Verder zit ik inmiddels niet al te ver terug achter onze huidige lijstjes aan waardoor de indexen ook daarvoor beter bruikbaar zijn. Dat hoop ik in de toekomst zo te houden.
Nr. 59 uit de laatste index bijvoorbeeld gaat komende week in mijn top 40 binnenkomen.

Tijd voor de jaarlijkse evaluatie. Vinden jullie de indexen interessant genoeg om er ook in 1968 mee door te gaan? Ik doe het met plezier maar dat alleen vind ik niet voldoende als er verder weinig behoefte aan is.
Verder kan het zijn dat jullie liever een andere opzet zien. Ook dat hoor ik graag.
Ik ben bereid om in de huidige vorm verder te gaan.

Die lijstjes zijn een zeer waardevolle aanvulling op het topic. Ik neem ze altijd door. En als ze wat dichter op de voor ons actuele weeklijst zitten, zal ik dat nog intensiever doen.

In een eerder geplaatste TOP 100 waren abusievelijk behaalde punten in 1966 meegenomen. Hierbij opnieuw mijn TOP 100 over 1967.
De lijst is puur gebaseerd op behaalde punten en houdt geen rekening met overlap met 1966 en 1968. En ook omdat de concurrentie gedurende het jaar schommelt, geeft de notering slechts een globale indruk van mijn voorkeur.

Ik ga door in 1968.

Inmiddels de eerste twee maanden van de Nederlandse top 40 doorgenomen maar dat gaat er wat mij betreft niet op vooruit. Een maniakale Eddy Christiani die van ene "Lou Lou" van alles verzameld inclusief haar kimono en een lok van haar haar.
En drie Nederlandse uitvoeringen van "A Banda" in een fanfare-uitvoering met o.a. Johnny en Rijk die op de B-kant weer "Ouwe Taaie" coveren die we kennen van Eddy Christiani.
En de verdwenen carnavalsneus is populair begin 1968 bij Toon en Thijs.

Nr. 40 was oorspronkelijk voor Joe South met "Birds Of A Feather" maar na een fraai betoog van Justus heb ik Johnnie Taylor er voor in de plaats gezet.
Johnnie scoorde zijn grootste hit bij mij tot nog toe in 1973 met "I believe in you (you believe in me)" (5 weken top 40, 26e plek als hoogste) en in juni 1966 heb ik hem voor het eerst opgenomen in de index (ten onrechte onder Johnny Taylor, dat rectificeer ik bij deze) met "I've got to love somebody's baby".

Ik ben ook benieuwd naar de jouwe.
De vorige (van 1966) was prachtig voorzien met wat je al dan niet nieuw ontdekt had via het topic.

Inmiddels zijn er al fraaie jaarlijsten geplaatst door herman, Justus18 en 50tracks. Helaas heb ik nooit een complete jaarlijst van het favoriete singlejaar van onze topic-oprichter gezien. In 2011 vertoonde hij nog behoorlijk wat elan in een ander topic voor een incompleet jaartje:

Helaas ook geen gemeenschappelijke maar ik denk dat door het ledenverlies hier bepaalde maanden van 1967 ook onterecht veel punten zouden hebben gekregen. Wellicht is het mogelijk, als we de groep stabiel houden, dat er een jaarlijst voor 1968 in zit.

Mijn eigen jaarlijst komt ook nog. Die zal ik tussen 15 januari en 1 maart plaatsen.

Met het het uitvallen van 1 van de vaste deelnemers en een qua voorkeur verscheurd panel is een enkele nummer 3 positie voldoende voor een notering in de gezamenlijke lijst. In de lagere regionen van onze lijst zijn er daardoor wat re-entrys en binnenkomers die het niet veel verder zullen schoppen.
Drie nummers komen rechtstreeks de top 10 binnen. Dat zijn mooie noteringen voor Lalo en Will, maar de eer van hoogste binnenkomer gaat naar Nancy & Lee. Of is het Lee & Nancy?

Dit vind ik een heerlijke binnenkomer, maar wat is de goede link? Als je op dit nummer zoekt krijg je moderne zooi te horen. Volgens mij is dit de bedoelde versie, hoewel het wat lang duurt voor een single. Heb ik het goed?
Via de wiki vond ik ook Why Did You Lie?. De wiki suggereert dat dit nog na No No No is uitgebracht, maar Discogs suggereert anders. Weet iemand de releasedatum?

En nog meer goed nieuws: de single-release (weliswaar als B-kantje in NL en Duitsland, maar als A-kant in Noorwegen) wordt eind maart verwacht.
