Grappig, ik dacht al dat ik de enige was die de Judgement Night soundtrack leuk vond, eind vorig jaar (nou ja 92 dus) en begin dit jaar een paar van in m'n lijst gehad maar wel als enige voor zover ik gezien heb.

Erg fraaie originele soundtrack. Ik ben in week 32/33 van 1993 hier gestopt wegens o.a. tijdsgebrek, maar daar stonden toen ook enkele nummers van de soundtrack op de longlist. Maar goed nu alsnog eentje opgenomen.

Ik heb Faith No More/Boo-Ya Tribe - Another Body Murdered een paar weekjes in mijn lijst gehad.

Daar heb je overigens wel een opmerking over gemaakt dus je moet het gezien hebben

Ja vast, maar dan nog blijft het minimaal

Van alle boybands uit de '90's vond ik East 17 toch wel de meest interessante qua daadwerkelijke muziek.

Tevens hoop ik dat kaj_666 niet ziet wat er op #30 binnen komt.

Eventueel puntenverlies bij Kaj kan ik natuurlijk wel gemakkelijk compenseren bij vigil deze week met mijn gloednieuwe #49, die ik zelfs later nog eens op single kocht.

'Move on Baby' heeft een verrassend lange houdbaarheidsdatum inderdaad. Volgens mij moest ik er destijds even aan wennen maar achteraf bezien zeker één van de sterkste Eurohouse tracks.

Nou heb ik wel een poeha maar mis ik nog luigifort

Ik ga t niet redden, mijn vorige mag mee...

Ik heb vorige week een fout gemaakt De punten van Kristin Hersh en Kirstin Hersh zijn niet bij elkaar geteld, en zul je net zien dat Kristin in totaal 1 punt meer had dan Inspiral Carpets die ik dus onterecht op 1 heb gezet

Komt deze week dan helemaal goed, vermoed ik zo.

Nou het is niet anders, die mannen van Inspiral verdienen toch anders ook wel eens de 1ste plek

Het is dan weer tijd voor de nieuwe gezamenlijke weeklijst met 12 lijstjes waarvan 1 van een nieuwe deelnemer en 2 herhaallijstjes.

In de post van vorige week blijven Inspiral Carpets de trotse leiders echter voor de werkelijke stand ga ik toch uit van Kristin op 1. Sorry heren... Verder is de invloed van poeha wel te merken aan een aantal al bijna opgegeven stijgers zoals Enigma die na een paar weken puntjes sprokkelen nu naar 3 knalt.
Verder 4 binnenkomers...
De hoogste is van Aerosmith die nu 2x in de lijst staat. De live versie van Dream On blijft wat steken in de middenmoot, nu is daar Amazing die meteen al hoger staat. Het nummer werd een behoorlijk hit in de top 40 waar Aerosmith het sowieso goed deed in de 90s.
Ietsjes lager het debuut van Green Day in de lijst (neem ik tenminste aan), Longview werd als single van hun doorbraakalbum Dookie uitgebracht. Het bleef - in elk geval waar ik uitging en draaide - een populair nummer dat weinig onderdeed voor de opvolger ondanks dat dit nummer nog niks deed in de top 40.
Daar weer onder dan Snoop Doggy Dogg zoals hij zich toen nog noemde, het nummer zei me weinig en ik zag dat het ook geen hit is geweest. Toch zijn er hier genoeg fans om het in de lijst te krijgen.
Ook nog een re-entry, Pearl Jam stond in de eerste week van het jaar al in de lijst (eind 93 trouwens ook nog een paar weken) en nu dankzij een aantal laatbloeiers (waaronder ikzelf) opnieuw. Daughter is de 2e single van het 2e album Vs en zou in Nederland in de tipparade blijven steken...
Oja en Beck is weer weg. Hoe lang dit keer?

Ook in 1994, en ook een symforockband: Marillion springt van 5 naar 1.

Op 23 komen Guns n' Roses binnen, een band die al heel wat nummer 1 hits bij mij gescoord heeft. Estranged is een wat moeilijker nummer, erg lang, en geen aansprekend refrein of riff. Het werd ook geen hit en bleef bij mij ook wat achter, terwijl het duidelijk wel een fan-favourite is. Ik heb dat nooit zo gehoord, al is de sound op en top G n R.

Op 23 Suede met de klanken die we inmiddels van hen gewend zijn, maar ook Stay together vind ik niet zo sterk als veel andere singles.

Op 33 alweer een populaire nineties-band Soundgarden. Spoonman is een van hun wat simpeler of directere songs, wat steviger maar toch ook aansprekend. Het wordt dan ook een van hun grootste successen.

Op 35 het debuut van Amerikaanse soulzangeres Carleen Anderson, ook bekend van de Young Disciples. Op Nervous breakdown brengt ze doorleefde teksten en zang, goed verzorgd, Brits geproduceerd.

En op 36 onze Schotse vrienden van Wet Wet Wet, met altijd prettig luisterbare northern soul pop. Op Cold cold heart klinkt hij erg relaxed. Het refrein is helaas niet zo sterk, dus het blijft bij een aangename sound.

week 8 voor 1994... aan de top is het even relaxen al komen er onder in de top 10 al een aantal aangesneld die zich daar snel tussen willen voegen. Zeven binnenkomers dit keer.

Als hoogste een nummer dat deze week ook in de UK top 40 binnenkomt: Linger van The Cranberries. De band uit Limerick, Ierland scoort hiermee hun eerste UK hit, velen zouden volgen. In Nederland is het succes wat beperkter gebleven al heeft dit nummer langzaamaan toch een beetje klassieker-status gekregen.
Ook een nieuwe van Björk, alweer de 4e single van Debut (en dan reken ik Play Dead niet eens mee). Violently Happy begint wat langzaam en wordt vervolgens steeds dansbaarder. Ook een heerlijke versie is die van MTV Unplugged (die natuurlijk in deze week in 94 nog niet bekend was)
Ook Boo Radleys halen weer een UK top 40 hit, Barney and Me van het album Giant Steps is iets meer laid back dan de vorige single al gaat-ie in het eind nog even lekker ruizen.
Texas dan, alweer een UK top 40 notering, die doen het dit keer echt wat rustiger aan. Hun vorige single scoorde bij mij nog nummer 1.
Twee tipparade-binnenkomers, beide danceplaatjes van Maxx en Jam & Spoon. Eurohouse op de manier die ik wel leuk vind. Detailverschillen, vast, toch hebben deze wat meer dan een aantal andere.
Daartussen trouwens nog een Swerverdiver, in het 2019 lijstje hebben ze moeite de top 20 te halen en vasthouden; eens kijken hoe dat met terugwerkende kracht in 1994 gaat.

Het kan nog net voor de luizenmoeder!

Het lijkt alsof Lenny Kravitz en Oasis een soort van pact hebben gesloten: beide een rustig nummer. En dat is vrij zeldzaam.

Door deze leemte weten de Inspiral Carpets gelijk de hoofdprijs als hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer naar zich toe te trekken. In een verder prima, maar verder qua ontwikkelingen vrij rustige lijst. Wel uiteindelijk toch Guns n' Roses naar 1, waar de volgende single van Axl Rose e.a. aan de deur staat te kloppen.

Waar heb je Lake of Fire vandaan? Die komt toch pas eind dit jaar uit via MTV Unplugged?

Sad Song van Oasis vind ik ook niet zo snel terug.

Sad Song is via RYM, een franse promo overigens.
Lake of fire van Nirvana mag nog een jaartje wachten, het lijkt er op dat daar het verkeerde jaar is opgenomen.
Volgens mij bedoel ik bij nader inzien de Meat Puppets maar heb ik het gewoon onder de naam Nirvana weggezet.

Een flinke voorjaarsschoonmaak met liefst 10 nieuwe binnenkomers. De fijne nieuwe nummers zijn dan ook niet aan te slepen.

De singles van Pulp komen allemaal erg hoog binnen bij mij, maar met Do You Remember The First Time? heb ik nog wel iets meer. In 2011 zag ik Pulp op Primavera, waarmee ze openden met dit nummer. Vanaf dat moment één groot geluksmoment die avond, want dit is voor mij het beste concert dat ik ooit meemaakte (hier trouwens mooi beschreven door Lukas). De afgelopen dagen de beelden van 'First Time' op Primavera weer opgezocht en ook na 8 jaar krijg ik er nog kippenvel van.

Suede komt dan met een fraaie tussendoorsingle, die net als al hun vorige singles trouwens ook schitterende b-sides heeft (waaronder ook de lange versie van Stay Together). Bernard Butler kon zich destijds niet echt vinden in de decadente teksten van Brett Anderson en verliet hierna o.a. hierom de band.

Soundgarden ontdekte ik destijds via een scoutinggenootje, lekker luchtig plaatje voor hun doen.
Het plaatje van Whale is ook luchtig, een van die fijne alternatieve one-hit-wonders uit deze jaren. De clip met trampoline en zanger met beugel is toch wel iconisch te noemen.

Brand New Heavies is jeugdsentiment van mijn vriendin. Een jaar of 2 terug heb ik nog de 12" van deze gekocht toen ik hem ergens tegen kwam. Mooie soulplaat en ze hebben er nog wel een paar.

Haunt You Down leek me op het eerste gehoor flauwe stonerpop, maar hoe vaker ik hem hoe leuker ik hem vind. Sowieso ben ik Pavement meer en meer gaan waarderen. Vanmiddag ook Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain (dat deze week 25 jaar geleden uitkwam) weer eens beluisterd, mooi artikel daarover hier: Pavement’s ‘Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain’ Turns 25 - The Ringer - theringer.com

Dawn Penn's You Don't Love Me (No No No) is een fijne reggae-one-hit-wonder en een bewerking van een nummer van haar uit de jaren '60. Destijds veel gehoord, maar eigenlijk ben ik het pas veel later echt leuk gaan vinden. Vooral het instrumentale middenstuk is prachtig.

Juliana Hatfield Three's Spin The Bottle komt van de soundtrack van Reality Bites, een typische 90s film die ik nooit heb gezien, maar door de uitstekende soundtrack wel mijn aandacht heeft. Jammer dat 'ie niet op Netflix staat.

Never No More van Souls of Mischief is een lome hiphopplaat. Niet zo goed als '93 til Infinity, maar zeker de moeite waard.

Tenslotte Hedningarna ‎– Kruspolska (Sasha Remix). De Lapse muziek van Hedningarna gaat door de progressive house blender van Sasha en het resultaat is heerlijk.

Ja dat is echt een 90s film... typisch een 'ouder begrijpt kind niet' film en denkt dat alles is op te lossen met veel geld en grote cadeaus. Overigens al een poosje geleden dat ik die gezien heb.
