Goed, week 27. Tentamens zitten erop, dus an sich weinig verplichtingen meer: veel tijd om muziek te luisteren! Mooiste nieuwe van de afgelopen week: zonder twijfel de nieuwe Wolf Alice, die in tegenstelling tot Yuk Foo weer perfect de lijn doortrekt van een Silk of Freazy. Maar daar is nog geen plaats voor zolang ik nog lekker blijf meeschreeuwen op Yuk Foo, het nadeel van één nummer per artiest hanteren. Nu moet ik wel zeggen dat zonder die regel Jerry nu al twee maanden het volledige podium zou vullen, dus voor de variatie is het maar beter ook. Ik zet Don’t Delete The Kisses voorlopig maar even in de wacht en ga hem ook niet te veel draaien tot het moment daar is.
Voor Jerry is het nu ook al haar negende week op één, boy oh boy oh boy. De nummers twee en drie wisselen stuivertje, grote stijgers zijn Fishbach en Arcade Fire. We hebben vier nieuwkomers, voor mijn enige verse daarvan moest ik trouwens ook even de mazen van mijn Afrekeningwetten opzoeken.

Regels zijn er om te breken, ook als je ze zelf hebt opgesteld. Dit nummer heeft namelijk backing vocals van… Jerry Williams! De reden dat deze nog wel in mijn lijst mag is dat haar inbreng verder maar beperkt blijft, al is het wel voldoende om het nummer nog een extra lading te geven met haar engelenstem. Wie de man achter Just Off Sundance is weet ik eigenlijk niet, maar hij heeft wel een zeer sterk nummer neergezet. Donker, klein en sferisch.
Eigenlijk weet ik ook niet of het een single is. Vermoedelijk niet, maar het is in elk geval wel zijn populairste nummer op Spotify. Relatief gezien dan, de artiest heeft zo weinig luisteraars dat ik het wel eens hoogstpersoonlijk beïnvloed kan hebben.

Volgens mij zit hier nu een behoorlijke hype omheen, en rightfully so. Een flink fors hiphopcollectief (ze noemen zichzelf een boyband, lol), met als belangrijkste man het 20-jarig broekie Kevin Abstract. Zeker dit HEAT gaat keihard, Yonkershard. FUCK you!
Céu - Varanda Suspensa
Portugees is toch wel echt een mooie taal, zo mooi dat je er eigenlijk geen slechte liedjes omheen kunt schrijven. Zo ook de Braziliaanse Maria Céu, die hier met een heerlijk firs geproduceerd popnummer op de proppen komt met allerhande invloeden en zomerse bliepjes. Door Eigenwijze 30 geïntroduceerd, bij panjoe nu nummer 1 en bij mij nu ook klaar om door te schuiven.
GGOOLLDD - Secrets
Synthpopgroup uit ‘Murica met een heerlijk catchy liedje met een geweldig refrein, met een surfy gitaartje dat erg aan HAERTS doet denken. Of wel, eigenlijk doet het hele liedje heel erg HAERTS denken. Vorige single Undercovers is ook een goed nummer, dat dan weer lijkt op Blue Blood van Laurel. Niet erg creatief dus, wel goed uitgevoerd.
Kero Kero Bonito - Forever Summer Holiday
De gekke nummers van KKB waren in het begin toch even wennen maar inmiddels vind ik ze geweldig. Eigenlijk brengen ze de K/J-pop naar Engeland en weten daar nog een volkomen knettahhh alternatief randje aan te voegen waardoor het net weer wat anders is. Misschien is die opbouw + drop in het begin net iets te makkelijk voor hun doen, maar het totale sfeertje maakt je wel instant vrolijk. Beach please?
She Keeps Bees - Head of Steak
She Keeps Bees is een duo dat níet bestaat uit Lady Lamb the Beekeeper die zich nu Lady Lamb noemt, maar de muziek lijkt er dan wel weer op, al heeft het ook vleugjes Torres. Prachtig uitgevoerde folk zoals Sunderland ze vaker heeft, Owl was ook al een prachtige ontdekking. Ik luister op moment van schrijven trouwens naar het nog iets nieuwere Our Bodies, die is nog beter!

Er zijn geen echt duidelijke uitschieters in deze periode van het jaar. Het nieuwe album van Broken Social Scene kwam uit deze week, uit appreciatie voor dat album (en ook voor de band) haalt het beste nummer uit die plaat de nr. 1 positie. St. Vincent is een artiest waar ik niet onverdeeld enthousiast over ben, sommige singles uit het verleden deden me heel weinig, maar deze nieuwe blijf ik maar beter en beter vinden en heb ik deze week erg veel gedraaid. Vandaar stijgt die door naar de top 3.
De nieuwkomers dan. Michelle Zauner (a.k.a. Japanese Breakfast) komt vrijdag met een nieuw album en Road Head is het tweede van de 3 singles uit die plaat die mijn lijst haalt. Tegenwoordig leggen ze de straat met nieuwe dreampop artiesten, maar ik vind haar muziek toch een eigen kwaliteit hebben die ik niet vaak hoor. Het klinkt allemaal ambitieuzer dan haar singles van verleden jaar, al waren die dan misschien iets catchier en klonken die meer als 'hits'.
Dan is er nog This is the Kit, met een mooi indie-folk nummer dat ik uit de lijst van Chartsmaster heb gehaald. De nieuwe single van Spinvis is verre van mijn favoriet vanop Trein Vuur Dageraad, maar het is sterk genoeg voor een notering. En ten slotte is er Sun Riah met nog wat meer introverte indie. Er zit een harp in, dus dan zijn de vergelijkingen met Joanna Newsom daar al direct. Zelf vind ik het eerder te vergelijken met Julianna Barwick.

Is dat voor het goede doel, of mag ik op een mooie opvolger hopen van het prachtige Eight Houses? Hele fijne nieuwe single dit. Mooi tempo, dik aangezette gitaar. Genoeg voor mij!
18. Deltawerk?! Moet ik hier nu deep house gaan aan zitten bevelen? Geen genre waar je mij regelmatig vindt, maar dit hits the right spot! Niemand die Deltawerk kent?
19. Fijne mix van Temples. ben niet vaak weg van mixes, maar deze is prima te bedansen.
22. Ik blijf in de danshoek zitten met Get Lost van Washed Out. Zwoel singletje.
23. St. Vincent brengt een fijne toegankelijk nummer uit met New York. Pianospel en zang doet me een beetje denken aan Regina.
24. En we blijven in de remixes/reworks met Poni Hoax. Altijd fijn. Zang en synth blijven fijn in de jaren 80-stijl.

Omwille van de combinatie van een communicatiemisverstandje en tijdsgebrek uitzonderlijk eens een weeklijst zonder tekstjes bij, mijn excuses daarvoor, ik ben er zeker van dat dat de komende weken wel weer zal goedgemaakt worden.

Vakantie en de Tour; dat betekend dat ik niet heel veel muziek heb geluisterd, waardoor juist de tiplijst erg uitgebreid is, want die liedjes slechts een paar keer gehoord en nog niet echt door kunnen selecteren. Radiohead blijft op 1, maar dat is vooral omdat Writer in the Dark geen single is; want dat is eigenlijk het enige liedje dat op repeat staat. Ik denk dat de combinatie van het lieflijke en het hysterische in Lorde hier het best naar voren komt; als Lorde ooit gecast wordt voor een film zal het voor de rol van Medea zijn.
Warhaus komt de top5 binnen, Ibeyi wordt iedere luisterbeurt nog beter. Bij Airways lukt het mij inmiddels om het liedje op zich te beoordelen en niet als imitatie van de Arctic Monkeys. Onderin komen tips Calva Louise en Nana Adjoa binnen. Eerstgenoemde heeft een liedje dat typisch in mijn lijstje past, Nana Adjoa past daar wat minder in, maar zo af en toe zijn er soulzangeressen waar ik wel naar kan blijven luisteren en Nana Adjoa is er daar blijkbaar eentje van.

Warhaus komt de top5 binnen, Ibeyi wordt iedere luisterbeurt nog beter. Bij Airways lukt het mij inmiddels om het liedje op zich te beoordelen en niet als imitatie van de Arctic Monkeys. Onderin komen tips Calva Louise en Nana Adjoa binnen. Eerstgenoemde heeft een liedje dat typisch in mijn lijstje past, Nana Adjoa past daar wat minder in, maar zo af en toe zijn er soulzangeressen waar ik wel naar kan blijven luisteren en Nana Adjoa is er daar blijkbaar eentje van.

Zoiets ja Dit nummer past (qua genre) precies in mijn straatje (dus bedankt voor de tip, ik zal ook nog naar hun andere nummer gaan luisteren), dus ik heb het in mijn tip lijstje gezet, maar het staat niet in de top20 omdat ik het (nog) niet onderscheidend genoeg vindt 
. Soms helpt vaker luisteren, soms ook niet. Maar het is nu wel een band die ik in de gaten ga houden.

Tims Favoriete 30 - week 28
De nieuwe van Arcade Fire (Electric Blue) klinkt als een klok, maar vier keer Arcade Fire in de lijst is net iets teveel van het goede. De hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer is Nine Live van Black Grape. Een nummer dat al wat weekjes uit is, maar ik onlangs pas heb ontdekt. Dageraadplein is natuurlijk al een oude bekende van het laatste album van Spinvis, maar ik vind dit nummer erg goed! In de staart van de lijst vind je nog wat meer nieuwe nummers, gevonden in de lijsten van andere MuMegebruikers of ergens anders tegen het lijf gelopen.

Vlakke Tourritten met dobbervluchten zijn ideaal om nieuwe nummertjes te gaan zoeken, en zodoende is het nu dringen geblazen in mijn lijst. Vijf nieuwe binnenkomers, waaronder twee verse. Naive to the Bone moet hierdoor het veld ruimen zodat Jerry nu de enige overgebleven lijstaanvoerder is. De kaap van tien weken op één is beslecht, en hoewel ik het nummer dus nog lang niet zat ben is het maar eens tijd om een kunstmatig plafond op te stellen omtrent lijstaanvoerders. Dus vermoedelijk is dit haar laatste week aan de leiding. Op papier dan, niet in het hart. Waardoor er nu kansen liggen voor de nummer twee Devin-Jade of de gestegen nummer drie Bicep. Of toch weer Jerry, samen met Just Off Sundance?

Tourvibes komen weer opzetten als ik dit vrolijke liedje opzet. Kid Francescoli is een duo uit Marseille dat hier een heerlijk fris en Fransig electropopnummertje aflevert, niet heel verrassend afkomstig van het label Kitsuné. Het is trouwens het enige Franstalige liedje op hun nieuwe plaat, de ik maar snel een keer moet gaan luisteren.

Deze had ik vorige week al aangekondigd onder hun andere single Head of Steak, en inderdaad: hij is nog altijd een behoorlijk stukje beter. Sunderland approves. Enorm krachtig, rauw nummer.
DJ Shadow ft. Nas - Systematic
Nas’ Illmatic heeft op MuMe een gemiddelde van 4,22 en staat bij onder andere bij Arrie op 1, tijd om die maar een keer uit te proberen dus. Deze collaboratie met DJ Shadow heeft niet echt de magie om een soortgelijke legendarische status te verwerven, maar is dan wel weer fris en toegankelijk en het nodigt zeker uit tot meer.

Ook Burning Peacocks is zo’n groep die het merendeel van hun nummers in het Engels zingt, zoals het tamelijk heerlijke Tears of Lava, maar af en toe een uitstapje in hun eigen taal maakt. Zo’n uitstapje nodigt in elk geval uit tot een speels en zomers liedje. Waarom zijn die Fransozen daar zo verrekte goed in?
Cloves - California Numb
Cloves kon tot op heden nog niet echt indruk op me maken maar bi dit nummer heeft me toch wel overtuigd. Dit is eigenlijk zo’n nummer dat ik graag op het album van Findlay had gezien, lekker stevig en catchy tegelijk. Dank Poeha voor de tip.
Giungla - Cold
Giungla, mooie naam vind ik. Deze stond in mijn Discver Weekly, en ik zie nu net dat Verweggistan hem toevallig dezelfde week heeft opgepikt. Het nummer begint meteen op de brommer en raast lekker door. Goed, de formule is niet bijster origineel meer maar toch is het wel erg lekker.
It's a Fine Line ft. Olovia de Lanzac - Cardiogram
Dit Londense duo ontdekte ik vorig jaar toen ze de hulp van Alex Kapranos inschakelden om de vocalen de verzorgen op het eerste single The Delivery, die mijn eerste Afrekening haalde. Hun repertoire bestaat uit spannende, ietwat mysterieuze elektronica en daar behoort dit nummer, de opener van hun debuutplaat, ook zeker toe
Zombie Juice - Lava
O nee toch, is mijn Afrekening nu ook lava? Zombie Juice (=Antonio Lewis) is de behoorlijk bebaarde snuiter van hiphopcollectief Flatbush Zombies die vorig een behoorlijke doorbraak beleefden. Ik ken alleen R.I.P.C.D. en die vind ik best gaaf. Nu is er dus een klein uitstapje van één van de drie zombies. Qua stemgeluid trekt het een klein beetje naar Danny Brown, maar Lewis krijgt het gelukkig voor elkaar om er níet hinderlijk irritant bij te klinken.

Kid Francescoli - Les Vitrines
Tourvibes komen weer opzetten als ik dit vrolijke liedje opzet. Kid Francescoli is een duo uit Marseille dat hier een heerlijk fris en Fransig electropopnummertje aflevert, niet heel verrassend afkomstig van het label Kitsuné. Het is trouwens het enige Franstalige liedje op hun nieuwe plaat, de ik maar snel een keer moet gaan luisteren.
She Keeps Bees - Our Bodies
Deze had ik vorige week al aangekondigd onder hun andere single Head of Steak, en inderdaad: hij is nog altijd een behoorlijk stukje beter. Sunderland approves. Enorm krachtig, rauw nummer.
DJ Shadow ft. Nas - Systematic
Nas’ Illmatic heeft op MuMe een gemiddelde van 4,22 en staat bij onder andere bij Arrie op 1, tijd om die maar een keer uit te proberen dus. Deze collaboratie met DJ Shadow heeft niet echt de magie om een soortgelijke legendarische status te verwerven, maar is dan wel weer fris en toegankelijk en het nodigt zeker uit tot meer.

Burning Peacocks - Ondulation
Ook Burning Peacocks is zo’n groep die het merendeel van hun nummers in het Engels zingt, zoals het tamelijk heerlijke Tears of Lava, maar af en toe een uitstapje in hun eigen taal maakt. Zo’n uitstapje nodigt in elk geval uit tot een speels en zomers liedje. Waarom zijn die Fransozen daar zo verrekte goed in?
Cloves - California Numb
Cloves kon tot op heden nog niet echt indruk op me maken maar bi dit nummer heeft me toch wel overtuigd. Dit is eigenlijk zo’n nummer dat ik graag op het album van Findlay had gezien, lekker stevig en catchy tegelijk. Dank Poeha voor de tip.
Giungla - Cold
Giungla, mooie naam vind ik. Deze stond in mijn Discver Weekly, en ik zie nu net dat Verweggistan hem toevallig dezelfde week heeft opgepikt. Het nummer begint meteen op de brommer en raast lekker door. Goed, de formule is niet bijster origineel meer maar toch is het wel erg lekker.
It's a Fine Line ft. Olovia de Lanzac - Cardiogram
Dit Londense duo ontdekte ik vorig jaar toen ze de hulp van Alex Kapranos inschakelden om de vocalen de verzorgen op het eerste single The Delivery, die mijn eerste Afrekening haalde. Hun repertoire bestaat uit spannende, ietwat mysterieuze elektronica en daar behoort dit nummer, de opener van hun debuutplaat, ook zeker toe
Zombie Juice - Lava
O nee toch, is mijn Afrekening nu ook lava? Zombie Juice (=Antonio Lewis) is de behoorlijk bebaarde snuiter van hiphopcollectief Flatbush Zombies die vorig een behoorlijke doorbraak beleefden. Ik ken alleen R.I.P.C.D. en die vind ik best gaaf. Nu is er dus een klein uitstapje van één van de drie zombies. Qua stemgeluid trekt het een klein beetje naar Danny Brown, maar Lewis krijgt het gelukkig voor elkaar om er níet hinderlijk irritant bij te klinken.

De nieuwe van Arcade Fire klinkt echt helemaal nergens naar, dus die komt niet op deze lijst. Happiness van Deaf Havana heb ik waarschijnlijk al tientallen keren geluisterd maar ik zie dat hij nu als single uitgekomen is. Mooi nummer, overigens ook een fijn album om naar te luisteren. Verder nog een leuk hitje van een opkomend bandje, not bad.
