Het volgende nummer heb ik leren kennen via het radioprogramma Muziek mozaïek van Willem Duijs.
Helaas zit de wikipediapagina over het programma, net als mijn longlist hier, vol met fouten. En dat is jammer omdat de presentator van het programma altijd behoorlijk graag gebruik maakte van allerlei feiten die moesten kloppen.
Zo staat er dat Muziekmozaïek van 1962 tot 1999 elke zondag van 8:30 tot 9:30 te beluisteren was op de radiozender Hilversum 1.
Dat klopt niet. Het programma was van 1965 tot 1982 elke zondag op wisselende tijden op Hilversum 3 te horen, daarna tot 1999 op achtereenvolgens Hilversum 1, Radio 1 en Radio 2.
Onderstaande act kennen we wellicht ook nog van het radioprogramma Tineke's koffietijd waar het de herkenningsmelodie was.
De groep was in de periode 1958-62 legendarisch, vooral in Scandinavië. Daarna zijn uit elkaar gegaan. Tot op dag van vandaag proberen tribute artiesten hun niveau weer te evenaren.
De zangeres van de Swe Danes was een sopraan met een bereik van drie octaven die als enige Europese zangeres ooit met Duke Ellington mocht optreden. En de violist en gitarist zijn zeer begenadigde spelers op hun instrumenten. Ze kwamen ook solo vaak bij Willem Duijs voorbij.
Hun virtuositeit blijft vaak wat op de achtergrond door de luchtigheid die ze in veel nummers
mengen. Ook hier is dat het geval maar ik ga ervan uit dat jullie dat wel op de juiste waarde weten te schatten.

"Miss Toni Fisher - The Big Hurt" en "Jim Reeves - He'll Have to Go" doen ook gewoon mee in deze meter terwijl ze eigenlijk van de jaren 50 zijn.

Echt razend knap wat hier gebeurt.

Nu een nummer dat veel gecoverd is in de periode na 1962 o.a. door the Doors, Jesus & Mary Chain en the Rolling Stones.
Ooit sprak ik een Waalse muziekkenner die mij wilde overtuigen dat Willie Dixon's Red Rooster mede geïnspireerd was door de Waalse rode haan. Een kleine haan in vergelijking tot de Franse. Die Waalse haan was vlak voor de Eerste Wereldoorlog ontstaan.
In Amerika mochten Afro-Amerikaanse mannen nog niet meevechten voor de Verenigde Staten tijdens die oorlog.
Maar in de Franse legers mocht dat wel. Tienduizenden Afro-Amerikaanse mannen vochten daar mee op basis van vrijwilligheid. Zij konden geld verdienen en hun aanzien verhogen door dat leger in te gaan. En respect kregen ze in het Franse leger.
Uiteindelijk speelden ze een heldhaftige rol in de bevrijding van Wallonië waar die rode haan vers aan het Waalse erfgoed was toegevoegd. Toen ze terugkwamen in Amerika werden ze daar weer net zo vijandig behandeld als voordat ze vertrokken.
En zo nam Dixon die rode haan over.
Ik kon dit verband tot nog toe niet duidelijk terugvinden in de biografieën van Dixon (bijvoorbeeld in zijn eigen autobiografie "The Willie Dixon Story - I am the Blues).
Maar er is wel een onmiskenbaar verband tussen een huilende wolf en een haan die te lui is om te kraaien.

Er kan nu ook gestemd worden om nummers van de longlist naar de shortlist te krijgen.
Maak twee keuzes op volgorde van voorkeur. Een eerste keuze nummer gaat dan naar de shortlist, de lijst met nummers die beoordeeld gaan worden. De tweede keuze nummers niet tenzij een andere deelnemers deze ook als tweede keuze heeft. Dan gaat die ook naar de shortlist. Als een andere deelnemer een tweede keuze als eerste keuze heeft dan mag je uiteraard een ander nummer als tweede keuze doen.

Maak twee keuzes op volgorde van voorkeur. Een eerste keuze nummer gaat dan naar de shortlist, de lijst met nummers die beoordeeld gaan worden. De tweede keuze nummers niet tenzij een andere deelnemers deze ook als tweede keuze heeft. Dan gaat die ook naar de shortlist. Als een andere deelnemer een tweede keuze als eerste keuze heeft dan mag je uiteraard een ander nummer als tweede keuze doen.
