1985 is waarschijnlijk het beste jaar van de 80s voor mij (hoewel 1988 nog komt natuurlijk). Maar als ik deze lijst zo bekijk herinner ik me zo de sensaties die ik had bij het de eerste (paar) keer horen van de nummers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 13, 16 bij Curry& van Inkel of de Avondspits of (als die er toen al was) de Miniparade of iets dergelijks... geweldige tijd voor mij als 15/16 jarige. En in de wekelijkse top 40 tussen Wham! en Madonna gewoon the Cult en Waterboys en Siouxsie kwam zelfs binnen op 1 bij mij.
En dan Bryan Adams, those were the first days of my life maak ik er altijd van.
Katrina and the Waves heb ik jarenlang op 2 gezet in mijn allertijdenlijst, tot ik na een periode van geen lijst maken opnieuw begon en die er niet inzette. Paar jaar daarna toch weer teruggekomen en alleen nog maar stijgend eigenlijk, die hoort gewoon hoog.
En dat dan aangevuld met (veel) latere ontdekkingen als Wedding Present, Jesus & Mary en Clan of Xymox... en wow wat een stem had Maria McKee toen ook al, die gaat nog (veel) vaker terugkomen, zowel met Lone Justice als solo.
Verder Tracey natuurlijk, toen ik haar 2e album kocht (op musicassette!) was I Don't want our loving to die (origineel van the Herd) al snel m'n favoriet. Die bleek overigens als bonus op de cassette te staan, op de lp niet. Terry is natuurlijk van Kirsty MacColl, het origineel stond al hoog in m'n 1983 lijst en nu ook de Tracey versie (waar Kirsty wel meezingt in de koortjes). Kirsty zelf ook nog met een eigen nummer in de lijst. Kirsty gaan we zeker nog vaker terug zien, voor Tracey houdt het hier op.

ranja: Let's Go Crazy was een single in 1984 - met het fantastische Erotic City als b-side - en Take Me With U in 1985. Had ze in beide jaren zo in mijn top 10.

Erotic City heb ik als b-kant van de Girls and Boys 12", heerlijk nummer ook maar met LGC een US single dus vond ik niet in mijn lijst van 84 passen, vooral niet omdat de Europese single zo hoog scoorde in mijn weeklijsten van 85 (dik nummer 1). Take Me with U als a-kant ook alleen US.
Nou komt het wel vaker voor dat een single eigenlijk in een 'verkeerd' jaar staat (bv Boys of Summer in 84 terwijl die scoorde in 85) maar daar was het in alle landen dezelfde single en was de release in november of december dus vooruit

We lopen voorlopig in tegenfase qua Bangles - in 1984 bij mij op 1 en bij jou nergens, in 85 bij jou op 1 en bij mij de top 20 niet gehaald.

Echter ranja, hoe het ook precies zit, we zouden bij dit spel van RYM uitgaan, toch? Zo zet ik ze in mijn jaarlijstjes.
