Ik hoop steeds dat ik de zin hierboven verkeerd lees. Minste nummer in de finale? Tja, het staat er echt... Nou ja, iedereen z'n smaak enzo. Ik had hem zelf ook 'maar' op plek 11. Iets wat alles zegt over de kwaliteit van de bovenste tien. Hoewel Dock of the Bay bij het grootste publiek het bekendst zal zijn is dit voor mij toch zijn signature song. Ex aequo met Try a Little Tenderness wellicht. Verschil is wel dat Otis deze liefdesballade zelf heeft geschreven. Knap hoor, als vierentwintig jarige. Tot nu toe vallen Otis' noteringen ietwat tegen. Laten we hopen dat dat geen voorbode is voor zijn laatste troefkaart.

Schitterende song van Marvin Gaye, zijn beste. Het verhaal achter het nummer veronderstel ik als bekend bij een ieder. Fenomenaal als je op deze manier je gram kunt halen. De jazzy begeleiding i.c.m. de zwoele stem van Marvin Gaye maakt dit tot mijn favoriete Gaye song.
