Net als bij The Doors stond eerst het albumtitelnummer in de Top 10 genoteerd en daarna de album afsluiter, met dit verschil dat Marvin Gaye Inner City Blues wel de Nr. 1 positie heeft behaald! De hele week stond de song al in de Top 3 en leek de 2e plek te halen tot in de laatste uurtjes voor de deadline eindigde, maar het liep anders.

De song is in een milde funk stijl opgenomen met Marvin Gaye zelf op de piano. Tekstueel behandelt het de slechte staat van de ghetto's in de grote binnensteden van de Verenigde Staten. De 'hoofd' titel verwijst naar die plekken en de 'klaagzang' (blues) daarover.

Nummer 10, 7 en 5 uit de top 10 kom je niet zo snel ergens anders in een top 10 tegen. Dus dat laat zien dat dit spel niet alleen 'standaardsongs' oplevert. Is ook wel in de vorige jaren gebleken. Bovendien is het aardig om hierna naar de lijstjes van de anderen te kijken: vind je nog veel meer niet-standaardsongs.

Edit: mag ik daar de nummer 1 aan toe voegen! Halleluja: geweldig zeg!

Mooiste liedje vh jaar heeft ook gewonnen, ik ben heel blij en erg trots op jullie, snik.

Cured jij was ook dit jaar weer geweldig, diep buiging.

Wat een winnaar, goede smaak jongens!

En Rudi S, Sister Morphine vind ik na Knocking ook het beste nummer!

The Stones zijn wel één van de grote verliezers ja; ook werden er 3 verschillende nummers genoemd, maar ik vind zelf Brown Sugar wel een lekkere rocker, maar niet bijzonder. Geef mij dan maar Can't You Hear Me Knocking of Sister Morphine, alleen ik had andere nummers liever; het geeft wel aan wat voor topjaar dit was (wat mij betreft).

Leonard Cohen is ook net een 'verliezer' met het prachtige Famous Blue Raincoat : maar liefst 38 punten, maar toch buiten de Top 10....

Klopt: Can't You Hear Me Knocking vind ik ook het beste nummer van Sticky Fingers. Had ik eigenlijk wel in mijn top 10 kunnen zetten, achteraf gezien. Overigens is Brown Sugar live in een stadion echt geweldig.

Je nummer 1 op 11 hebben is nooit leuk, maar toch, wat een uitstekende top 10 (en nummer 1)!

Ik verwacht dat het volgende jaar de speiding van favoriete nummers van The Rolling Stones nog groter zal zijn.

Daar zit met dat dubbel-album een grote kans in: ik zie zo 1,2,3 ook niet een echt grote favoriet van ze voor de Top 10 uiteindelijk, 'but who knows'....
