Van het saaiste dat er is voor de moment. Sommige mensen vonden de banjo van Mumford & Sons wat irritant, maar ze hadden tenminste hun eigenheid. "Believe" klinkt wel erg middle of the road. Maar goed, soms groeien nummers nog op bizarre wijze bij mij.

The Four Owls: één van de leukste Engelse hiphopgroepen van dit moment. De rappers hebben aparte stemgeluiden die voor mij goed werken. Ze houden me goed bij de les. Bovendien is het prima geproduceerd.
Glass Animals: de spannende popmuziek van Glass Animals gaat er bij mij altijd goed in, ook Black Mambo heeft een toffe, donkere en licht ongemakkelijke sfeer.
Janne Schra: een klein, breekbaar liedje van de voormalig Room Eleven-zangeres
Kepa Junkera & Sorginak: een gedreven song van de Spaanse accordeonist Kepa Junkera. Spannende vocalen erbij, sterk ritme, en je hebt een bijzonder uniek maar wel heel mooi geluid. Voor mij een bijzondere ontdekking, weer eens met dank aan Eigenwijze 30!
Mami Wata: klinkt ook bijzonder exotisch, maar deze zangeres komt hier vlak uit de buurt (de Soest/Baarn-scene, voor mij nog geen 20km). Haar debuutsingle, maar al meteen een heel eigen geluid, waar moeilijk een label op valt te plakken. Bezwerende muziek, met een sterke opbouw, en enorm veel sfeer en onderhuidse spanning.
Mahsa Vahdat: geen idee waar ze over zingt, maar deze Iraanse zangeres weet me aan te grijpen met haar prachtige stem, die goed tot zij recht komt bij de sobere instrumentatie
De Sluwe Vos: heeft al aardig naam gemaakt op menig technofeestje, maar zijn eigen muziek mag er ook zijn. Ik hoor ook wel wat triphop-invloeden.
Mutual: sfeervolle, elektronische muziek uit Portugal

Ik doe nu een jaar mee, maar moet nog leren hoe het werkt, bedankt voor je reactie.
Leuk dat je toch geluisterd hebt naar de liedjes en dat ik er een paar terug vind in jouw lijstje.

Klassieke muziek op nummer één in de Eigenwijze 30. Hedendaags klassiek componist Anouar Brahem schreef muziek voor Oud (Arabische luid). Hij bespeelt het instrument zelf met zijn band en het "Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana". Het orkest moet echt moeite doen om de Arabische muziek te spelen, getuige het begin van deze videoclip.

- Faith No More: hun comebacksingle deed me niet veel, dus veel verwachtingen had ik niet bij deze opvolger daarvan, maar daar zat ik even mis... Superhero klinkt als de Faith No More ten tijde van King for a Day en de nummers daarna, met nummers als Digging The Grave en Last Cup of Sorrow. Lekker dramatisch en met pianospel dat me wel wat aan dat van Mike Garson op Bowie's Time doet denken. Geweldig nummer!
- Unknown Mortal Orchestra verrast me ook. Ik vond hun vorige album al tof, maar dit psychedelische synthpopliedje is nog een niveau beter. Ook licht funky op een bepaalde manier. Briljant nummer eigenlijk, gaat volgende week nog een stuk omhoog.
- Best Coast komt met een dramatische nummer dat me dan wel weer een prettig melancholisch gevoel geeft. Mooie indiepop met een beetje galm en 60s vibe.
- The Soft Moon klinkt weer industrieel, gitzwart en behoorlijk dwingend. Ben toch wel heel benieuwd naar die nieuwe plaat en hoop ze gauw eens live te zien. Fantastische band.
- Voor Grimes heb ik een zwak en dit is het beste wat ik van haar heb gehoord sinds haar album van een paar jaar terug. Het is pure pop met een jaren '90 toets en een alternatieve rand, maar op een bepaalde manier klinkt het toch behoorlijk magisch.

* Screaming Females timmeren al een aantal jaren aan de weg maar vallen mij nu pas op met 2 zeer goede singles van hun nieuwe album Rose Mountain. De eerste single was Wishing Well. Fijne rock met mooie vibratie in stem, waar ik normaal niet zo weg van ben.
* Kaleida kan iets leuks nieuws worden. Doet me erg denken aan The Eurythmics; de donkere synths en de stem.
* Warpaint kennen we natuurlijk; start dromerig en gaat halverwege lekker los. Swingt fijn!

Nieuwe nummers:

Een schitterend nummer van Warpaint met een prachtige opbouw ( ik neem voor het gemak maar even de 7 minuten versie mee in mijn lijst ). Ariel Pink`s laatste nummer keert na een week afwezigheid alweer terug in mijn lijst en hoger dan ooit tevoren. Pop prinses Sia blijft imponeren na Chandelier, met weer een verslavend nummer. En ik kijk uit naar het nieuwe Django Django album!

De overige binnenkomers zijn trouwens ook onweerstaanbaar!

Brian Wilson doet zonder meer erg zijn best, hij schroomt niet te proberen weer eens te klinken zoals het ooit was. Dat is aarzelend en het lijkt op weer opnieuw achter een stoel gaan staan om te leren schaatsen. Maar je hoort er toch duidelijk aan af, dat hij ooit de componist was van Sloop John B. Nu heeft hij met de Beach Boys in 2012 een prima album afgeleverd. Vraag: waarom dit Sail away niet met de gehele band opgenomen. Ik kan mij haast niet voorstellen dat een nummer met een dergelijke titel niet ooit eerder is uitgebracht door (een lid van) de Beach Boys. Maar het is een 7, waar Sloop John B natuurlijk 10+ is.

Verder maar twee andere nieuwe binnenkomers, de rest wilde nog niet van wijken weten.

Vooral de Von Hertzen Brothers hebben een prachtige nieuwe song gemaakt.
