De eerste single van het nieuwe Modest Mouse album, We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank, staat nu op de Myspace-pagina: http://www.myspace.com/modestmouse. Klinkt wel lekker op zich, maar ik had eigenlijk op beter gehoopt. Anyway, eerst het hele album maar afwachten.

Coming Out Next Week!
Coming out next week on Decisive Sound Records is the latest release from ambient/idm act Lucid Reflections entitled "Featherchunk."
Lucid Reflections is the project of photographer, graphic designer and musician Ronny Theeuwes. The name comes from Ronny's fascination with lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming means dreaming while knowing that you are dreaming. The term was coined by Frederik van Eeden who used the word "lucid" in the sense of mental clarity. Lucidity usually begins in the midst of a dream when the dreamer realizes that the experience is not occurring in physical reality, but is a dream.
"Featherchunk" contains 7 new tracks as well as a 4-track bonus release with remixes from R[Zero], Sleep Clinic, Replogen and Lucid Reflections. More information and links to download coming sometime next week!

sigur rós have begun recording their new album and expect to finish it later this year. according to georg, it remains to be seen whether the band will be taking a totally new direction on the album. “we have finished recording a few songs but some more things need to be done. we don’t know exactly where the album is heading yet. we are really just experimenting at this stage. some of the songs we recorded are old songs which we had written a while ago, unreleased material which we never got a chance to finish. we decided it was time they were recorded.” georg says there is a possibility the album will be released this year but nothing is confirmed at this point.

Our impressions:
Nowhere has Conor Oberts’ fractured personality been more obvious than on Bright Eyes’ 2005 releases Digital Ash in a Digital Urn, and I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning. So unresolved was his battle between traditionalism and experimentalism that he had to make two separate albums to accommodate each. On Cassadaga Oberst seems to have solved the split personality problem by layering all of it — the optimistic strings and the gritty, impassioned vocals — together on track after spine-tingling track. Some of our favorites so far? The distorted thrasher “Hot Knives,” which features the expert pounding of ex Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss, and our new favorite vocal — “I’ve made love, yeah/ I’ve been fucked/ so what.” We also really like not at all soul-like waltz “Soul Singer in a Session Band,” which brings into vivid focus all the messy alcoholic freedom of our favorite Bright Eyes shows.

Er zit een nieuw album aan te komen van Orenda Fink. Na drie albums als Azure Ray (samen met Maria Taylor) en haar soloalbum (Invisible Ones) uit 2005 heeft ze afgelopen jaar het bandje Art in Manila opgestart. Art in Manila bestaat naast Orenda Fink uit Adrianne Verhoeven, Dan McCarthy, Steve Bartolomei, Ryan Fox en Corey Broman. Hun eerste album Set the Woods on Fire zal waarschijnlijk in de loop van dit jaar uitkomen.
Hier alvast een aantal voorproefjes. Het klinkt in ieder geval al veelbelovend.

De EP staat inmiddels al op MuMe. De muziek borduurt verder op het stijl van "I'm Wide Awake". Het klinkt goed.

Following two album playback events in New York and at Abbey Road in London, the track listing of the new Porcupine Tree album "Fear of a Blank Planet" has been revealed:
1. Fear of a Blank Planet (7.28)
2. My Ashes (5.07)
3. Anesthetize (17.42)
4. Sentimental (5.26)
5. Way Out of Here (7.37)
6. Sleep Together (7.28)
The album is set for April release through Roadrunner in Europe, Atlantic in the US, and WHD Entertainment in Japan. It's likely that both the stereo CD and 5.1 surround sound DVDA will be packaged together as standard.

Feit is wel dat ze al een keer samen eerder getoured hebben....In 2000 wel te verstaan, op de Metropolis Tour.
Bovendien lijkt het me ook nog eens een keer niet zo heel vreemd aangezien Portnoy en Wilson (samen met Ackerfielt van Opeth) nog een zijproject willen gaan doen.

dat lijkt me stug, maar je weet nooit.
de kans is veel groter dat ze op toernee gaan met Rush. dat was in 2005 al bijna gebeurd, maar toen lukte het organisatorisch niet (was ook voor de US and A overigens).
