The Waterboys komen ook met een nieuwe plaat, genaamd Book of Lightning. Ik kijk ernaar uit, al vind ik het erg jammer dat hij pas 2 april uitkomt, na de concerten in Nederland...

This fall, as Sub Pop has confirmed, Iron and Wine will treat fans to another blistering LP of mixtape-ready folk balladry titled The Shepherd's Dog.
The new disc will include songs "Boy With a Coin", "House by the Sea", "The Love Song of the Buzzard", "Peace Beneath the City", "Carousel", and "Pagan Angel and a Borrowed Car". Beam, who just wrapped up a tour of Japan with Calexico, has already begun beaming audiences with these tunes in the live setting-- many thanks to an astute show-going reader for the tip.

TRENT REZNOR TO GUEST ON NEW QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE ALBUM?
According to a posting on the Danish web site Gaffa.dk, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE will perform at this year's Roskilde Festival, set to take place July 5-8 in Roskilde, Denmark.
In other news, Gaffa.dk reports that QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's new album, "Era Vulgaris", will feature guest appearances by Trent Reznor (NINE INCH NAILS), Mark Lanegan and Julian Casablancas (THE STROKES). It should be noted, however, that this information has not yet been officially confirmed by the band or its management.
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE announced the new album title in a post at the band's MySpace page on Wednesday (February 14), along with song titles like "Into The Hollow", "Sick, Sick, Sick", "Misfit Love" and "Battery Acid". But in typically mysterious QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE style, the post added, "Could be song titles. Or could not...go sign up on the mailing list for future insider info. Then get off the Internet and go get laid, it's Valentine's Day."
The new QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE album is expected out in June.

De Einstuerzende Neubauten zijn ook alweer een tijdje bezig met het fabriceren van hun nieuwste CD.
Omdat ze sedert enige jaren proberen om hun muziek kompleet buiten het gangbare platenmaatschappijencircuit te produceren, hebben ze een geheel nieuwe strategie ontwkkelt: bij vooruitbetaling kun je hun nieuwste CD bemachtigen, die niet in de reguliere verkoop zal verschijnen.
Tevens zijn er extraatjes, zoals het afgelopen jaar elke maand een gratis 'Jewel", te downloaden via de website. De serie van 12 Jewels is inmiddels compleet, en ik moet zeggen dat het me niets tegenvalt. Het zijn geen echte 'songs' maar meer een soort van (over het algemeen wat kortere) muzikale sfeerschetsjes. Voornamelijk gebaseert op dromen die voorman Blixa Bargeld heeft gehad en genoteerd.
Wie zeker is, of de gok wilt wagen, kan zich inschrijven voor het nieuwe album op de website www.neubauten.org.

Danger Mouse heeft weer eens het lumineuze idee opgevat om een opmerkelijke muzikale collaboratie op te zetten. Ditmaal duikt de producer de studio in met Ike Turner en The Black Keys. Het resultaat zou nog dit jaar op de markt moeten komen.

This is the first-ever collection of rare videos from Tim Buckley's live performances, including thirteen full-length songs. The footage spans his entire career, from 1967 to 1974, and includes unreleased video of interaction with Buckley on The Steve Allen Show (1969) and on WITF's The Show (1970). This DVD also features interviews with Larry Beckett (co-writer of many songs with Buckley), Lee Underwood (Buckley's guitarist) and David Browne (author of "Dream Brother: The Lives of Jeff and Tim Buckley").
