Beetje bij beetje drupt er info binnen over het nieuwe album van Midlake. De titel van het nieuwe album is gevallen: The Courage Of Others. Het klinkt donkerder - niet in de zin van Black Sabbath, maar iets meer in minor-key, aldus de frontman Tim Smith.
Wanneer we het album mogen verwachten is vooralsnog onbekend.

Nieuws over de nieuwe Portishead! Het album heet Third (tsja, echt vernieuwend is het niet).

Elbow stopt 
The Seldom Seen Kid wordt momenteel de laatste plaat van de band. Later in het jaar kunnen we nog een album verwachten met B-sides wat we als vijfde album kunnen zien.

Al Green
Het nieuwe album van Al Green is voltooid. De frisse kijk op vintage soul is gerealiseerd door onder meer drummer/producer Ahmir ‘Questlove’ Thompson van The Roots en toetsenist/producer James Poyser (Jill Scott, Mariah Carey, Erykah Badu, Anthony Hamilton). Anthony Hamilton, Corinne Bailey Rae en John Legend gaan in duet en leveren achtergrondvocalen op andere nummers. The Dap Kings (Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson) hebben de hoornpartijen ingespeeld en de strijkersarrangementen komen van Larry Gold (Philadelphia International/Gamble + Huff).

Het derde album van Amos Lee bevindt zich in de afrondende fase. Het is geproduceerd door de legendarische producer Don Was (Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan). De indrukwekkende lijst met muzikanten die op het album te horen zijn bevat onder meer Pino Palladino (D’Angelo, The Who) en James Gadson (Beck, Bill Withers). Het meer rock- en soulgeoriënteerde album klinkt ruiger dan zijn vorige twee platen, maar toont ook Lee’s kenmerkende sensitiviteit.

Your resuscitation begins with just a morsel or two about what's coming down the pipe. First comes an exhaustive reissue program addressing as many of the early Jim O'Rourke recordings as we can get our hot little hands on! It starts in May with reissues of Tamper (originally released on Extreme in 1991) and Osorezan (Polystar Jazz Library, 2006). After that comes Long Nights, on Streamline, a double-disc release of pure drone that dates way, way back but is only now seeing the light of day. And what a day to finally shine on it! The children of the world are weaving drone music into their everyday lives — at last! Hopefully, that happens sometime over the summer or in the fall. Then comes the main course the new Jim O'Rourke album. It should be finished sometime early this year and then who knows what'll happen, who we'll be, what music will be like then? Until we know, we're on red O'lert.

Desolate without the presence of Jim O’Rourke in our lives, we’ve taken to setting up a series of reissues that will bring his idiosyncratic early sounds to fresh ears all around the world, as well as a few titles that slipped between the American cracks over the years. To wit — ever heard of Mimodokodesuka? This is the one and only album by Osorezan, a band of improvisers comprised of O’Rourke, Darin Gray and Chris Corsano. Recorded and released in Japan in 2005, Mimodokodesuka is finally seeing the light of day here in the lower 50, as well as seeing the light of vinyl for the first time ever for all the children of the world. The music, as the line-up might hint to you, is a couple of excursions in the drums-bass-and electric guitar vein guaranteed to thrill Bailey-heads and Sharrock-ers everywhere. There’s that plus a CD reissue of the relatively ancient (1990, anyone?) Tamper to represent our first triumphant salvo in the O’Rourke O’Reissue campaign. Tamper’s a lot of fun too, finding young James Michael O’Rourke frustrated with people listening to musical clichés of playing yet ignoring the sounds themselves. So Tamper goes, highlighting the pure tones of instrumentation without the distracting sound of instruments’ definitions. It’s an arresting listening experience, with dreamy moments of undefined sound leading to moments of undefined violence and thence to beauty and so on and on — a perfect launch for the O’Rourke O’Rediscovery Trip we’ve got planned for you. A trip that will include a drone work on Streamline this summer called long night that’s nearly three hours in length! A trip that won’t be complete until we release the first new Jim O’Rourke solo album in six years later this fall!

ENVY ANNOUNCES SPLIT ALBUM WITH THURSDAY!!!
We've decided to convert rumor into fact and lay it all out for all you good peoples. New Jersey's Thursday and Old Tokyo's Envy will come together to release a split LP+CD this fall, and we will be releasing it. It will be a limited edition LP+CD set. There will be no separated CD or LP versions. Both formats will come in one package, and both will contain the same music. This means it probably won't be available in Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Circuit City, or most "record" stores in the mall. But it will certainly be available at your local independently owned record store, while supplies last. We're not exactly sure how limited it will be yet; maybe 10,000, maybe a billion (probably closer to the former, as we really don't have space for a billion LPs). In addition, there will be a deluxe, hand-printed edition that will be sold exclusively through our webstore. These will be screenprinted by hand, and will be limited colored vinyl editions. There is no specific release date set yet, but look for this around Aug/Sep.

Aankomende 28 April zal Universal officieel aankondigen dat The Cure op 13 Mei, 13 Juni, 13 Juli en 13 Augustus telkens een single zullen releasen met een B-Side die niet op het album, dat op 13 September zal verschijnen, te horen zal zijn.
De singles zullen verschijnen in CDS en 7" formaat.
