The new solo album website will probably launch in early June now. The music is done, but we're still working on film material and the deluxe edition. It's presented as two 40-45 minute albums in the same package (which begs the question; when is a double album not a double album? When it's 2 single albums issued together!) The album titles are "Deform to Form a Star" and "Like Dust I Have Cleared From My Eye".

Fernando Corona established himself as Murcof with his long-playing debut, 'Martes' for Leaf in 2002. His fusion of micro-rhythms and deconstructed classical notation has led him to records for labels as diverse as Sutekh's Context records and also jazz stalwart, Blue Note. Re-edited and re-mastered to create a new version of the soundtrack to the Mexican film 'La Sangre Illuminada', Murcof's idiosyncratic, vaporous production correlates perfectly to the wide, scoped scenes of the Mexican desert.

Vinyl only release (includes CD), 180g red vinyl, 350g colour sleeve and full colour inner sleeve. Limited to 300 copies worldwide.

Last year, scarily intense postpunk/industrial originators Swans reunited and released My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky, a strong comeback album. And they're not stopping there. According to a press release, the band is currently at work on an as-yet-untitled follow-up album. They've just finished the first phase of recording in Berlin and will return to the recording process in Gardinier, New York in October, after their current tour. They plan to release the album early in 2012 on frontman Michael Gira's Young God Records.

This album could turn out to be a massive undertaking. The band has been playing new material on the road lately, and some of the new songs are as long as 30 minutes. The band's live show currently runs about two and a half hours, and the album may be a comparable length. There's no tracklist yet, but the band has unveiled the names of some of the songs being recorded for the album: "A Piece of the Sky", "The Apostate", "Avatar", "Lunacy", "Mother of the World", "The Daughter Brings the Water", and "The Seer".

Meanwhile, Gira is currently putting together a Swans live album that will collect material from the band's recent shows. Some copies of this album may appear in stores, but Gira's mostly planning to release it in a limited handmade edition, with his own woodblock print and drawings, which will be exclusively available through the Young God website. The live album, which will be out in October, will be a benefit of sorts; sales will help pay for the new studio album's recording sessions.

We decided to ask a few friends to join a compilation to help raise money. A few quickly became many as we were overwhelmed and warmed by the eagerness of these musicians to get involved.

The Bangles - L.A. folk/pop and garage/rock with 60's flair have collided for some memorable hits from this pioneering female band ("Manic Monday" and "Eternal Flame" still sound wicked good)...Matthew Sweet, a recent collaborator with Bangle Susannah Hoffs and an expert in SoCal, "Nugget"-era retro pop, is the trio's "fourth Bangle" on their first studio recordings in eight years, an album with a "paradise lost in Southern California" theme.

Move over, Bob Dylan. Another legendary Columbia Records artist just a couple of spaces over on the CD shelf is receiving the Bootleg Series treatment with the September 20 release of The Miles Davis Quintet – Live in Europe 1967: The Bootleg Series Volume 1.

Every track is previously unreleased commercially, and features Davis’ “Second Great Quintet” with the leader joined by a veritable “Who’s who” of jazz greats: Wayne Shorter (tenor saxophone), Herbie Hancock (piano), Ron Carter (bass), and Tony Williams (drums). The 3-CD + DVD package will be joined on September 20 by a “highlights” disc
