Nicolas Jaar is in absolute topvorm. Na zijn geweldige remix van Florence + the Machine brengt hij een prachtige, subtiele en mooi opgebouwde eigen track uit.

Met Rapsody wat vrouwelijke rap. 'Femcees' zijn in de minderheid, maar Rapsody hoeft zeker niet onder te doen voor haar mannelijke collega's. Prachtige tekst over de moeilijkheden van de man des huizes zijn, over een sfeervolle beat.

Dan een nummer dat al twintig jaar oud is. Ik haalde hem uit Hermans tipparade, en kwam er zojuist pas achter dat ie al zo oud is. Het blijkt dit jaar opnieuw uitgebracht en geremastered zijn, samen met drie andere nummers van de DJ. Omdat het zo'n heerlijke dance-track is, zie ik het door de vingers en laat ik hem alsnog gewoon binnenkomen. Overigens zijn heruitgaves in hitlijsten niets bijzonders, het gebeurt in alle hitlijsten, dus waarom niet in de mijne?

Met Mbongwana Star en !!! blijft het uitermate dansbaar. Mbongwana Star is een groep uit Congo die Afrikaanse muziek combineert met moderne, elektronische muziek. Het zorgt voor een ontzettend fijne hybride. Ook op de funky groove van !!! Is het erg fijn dansen.

Met Fresku hebben we wat emotionele hiphop in onze eigen taal. De rapper weet zijn emoties prachtig over te brengen.
En ten slotte een nieuwe van Lakker, waarbij ik zowel invloeden van kerkelijke koormuziek als van Aphex Twin lijk te horen. Blijft een interessant duo, dat Lakker!

Grappig dat je die oppikt, duurt zelf nog wel een weekje voor ik al mijn tips weer eens beluisterd heb. Ik heb die DJ Deeon opgepikt voor een tweet van Job de Wit geloof ik, die verwees naar de Loose Joints sample.

Ben zelf wel benieuwd naar de nieuwe Mbongwana Star, de vorige single deed het bij mij vrij goed.

Wist je zelf dat het al zo'n oud nummer was (hij is van '96)?

Nee, ik wist het niet eigenlijk. Had er nog nooit van gehoord.
