Met wat "freubelwerk" kan in principe nog een linkje met titel van de song worden gecreëerd. (edit: is inmiddels al weer hersteld).

Onverwacht Neil Young als hoogste binnenkomer. Ik weet niet goed, wat hem bezielde, in 1985. Maar een album met country op z'n Youngs was nog niet eerder op deze wijze verschenen.

Hij zat ook bij een platenmaatschappij waar hij bij nader inzien ook niet wilde zitten. En dan kan Neil Young een dwarse man zijn. Geffen was ook erg ongelukkig met Young's muzikale keuzes. Vooral omdat Old Ways en andere albums rond die tijd ook dieptepunten werden in de verkoopcijfers voor Young. Ook artistiek kwam hij er in de waarderingen niet best van af. In een aangespannen rechtspraak eiste Geffen "Neil Young muziek" van Young. Die betoogde dat hij, Neil Young zijnde, niet anders kon dan Neil Young muziek spelen.

Hij kreeg van de rechter gelijk (uiteraard) maar als ik Geffen was geweest, had ik mij ook enigszins bekocht gevoeld. Nu kan ik vrede hebben met Get back to the Country. Destijds bracht ik het album Old Ways terug naar de platenzaak.

De laatste lijst van 1985 is een feit en net zoals bij de andere was het een beetje zoeken naar "nieuwe" plaatjes, maar we hebben er toch nog 4 gevonden

Ome Neil komt met een leuk country plaatje en is misschien wel beïnvloedt door dit nummer

De Dijk komt wederom met een mooi nummer aanzetten en Sly Fox bleek achteraf een echte eendagsvlieg te worden, al wisten we dat in 1985 natuurlijk nog niet, maar het nummer klinkt eigenlijk best nog oké.

En om met Shakin' Stevens woorden te eindigen Merry Christmas Everyone!

Ondanks dat The whole of the moon heftig op de poort beukt, houdt Russians nog een week het bastion van de nummer 1 in bezit.

Op 23 nu ook bij mij Mike Oldfield met Pictures in the dark, een nogal drukke, ook wel kerstachtige single, met vocalen van Anita Hegerland, Barry Palmer en koorknaap Aled Jones. En natuurlijk die altijd herkenbare gitaar van Mike zelf natuurlijk.

Op 26 het al half vergeten maar erg fijne Eldorado van Drum Theatre (niet te verwarren met de symfoband Dream Theater ). Een one hit wonder wat mij betreft, maar een song met een sterke opbouw en zoals de bandnaam al suggereert, heerlijk drumwerk.

Op 34 alweer een nieuwe Prefab Sprout, Appetite. Ik vermoed dat mijn collega's deze al gehad hebben, maar ik volg de Nederlandse releasevolgorde, dus nieuw! Appetite is nog iets zachter dan de andere singles, maar niet minder.

Op 35 Leaving me now van Level 42, een ballad van deze gewoonlijk erg swingende band, maar ook ballads gaan de mannen goed af. Ik dacht dat dit een grote hit was geweest, maar hij is in de 30 van de NL top 40 blijven steken, zie ik nu. Mark King zingt vol overgave.

Op 36 weer een leuke singletje van Lloyd Cole, een vlotte deun die je echter ook weer makkelijk vergeet.

Komen vigil en poeha nog met nieuwe lijsten voor de kerst of ........?

Voor de kerst denk ik niet meer, morgen moet lukken.

Mogelijk vanavond. Nog even kiezen, want ik had nog wel genoeg keuze uit sterke tracks. Sterker nog er zit nog 1 persoonlijke klepper tussen.

Geweldige afsluiter van een geweldig muziekjaar, maar dat gold ook voor 1984 en zal zeker ook voor 1986 gaan gelden. Ik denk zelfs een van de beste weken tot nu toe. Er moeten zelfs toppers al na 3 a 4 weken naar beneden omdat er zoveel moois voor staat, of er achteraan komt c.q. nieuw in de lijst binnenkomt.

Hoe het de komende weken in m'n top 10 moet gaan, weet ik niet, als je ziet dat er flinke stappen worden gemaakt door Clarence & Jackson, Sandra en Toto in de top 10, terwijl er nog favorieten voor staan, die er pas net zijn aangekomen. En dan komen Talk Talk, a-ha, Mark Shreeve en Precious Wilson ook al oprukken. Plus dat een van m'n grote favorieten van 1985/1986 Sly Fox ook hun opwachting hebben gemaakt deze week. Dat worden diverse bijltjesdagen de komende tijd.

Daarnaast komt het op MuMe verguisde Starship binnen met een wonderschone powerballad en Drum Theatre met hun fijnste hit (Living in the Past vind ik tegenwoordig beduidend minder) Eldorado. En last but not least komen op de drempel naar het nieuwe jaar ook nog eens clubfavorieten Alexander O'Neal & Cherrelle binnen met een klassieker in "the scene".

Ik beleef deze weken beduidend anders dan de meeste users hier Super tijd was het.

De laatste weeklijst van dit jaar levert nog aardig wat nieuwe binnenkomers op zoals u ziet (5 stuks)
Icehouse met No Promises heeft dan de eer de hoogste nieuweling te zijn, deze single wordt helaas niet door iedereen omarmd (vooral door vigil en mij) en dat geldt eigenlijk ook voor Stan Ridgway met The Big Heat, de meeste zullen waarschijnlijk wel wachten op dat geweldige Camouflage maar The Big Heat mag er wat mij betreft ook zijn en is dan ook een voortreffelijk voorgerecht voor wat komen gaat.

A-Ha komt met de opvolger van Take On Me en is getiteld The Sun Always Shines On T.V. en zal weer een grote hit gaan worden in Europa en in de diverse lijsten hier.

One Thousand Violins met het fraaie Halcyon Days zat al een paar weken tegen de weeklijst aan te hikken en heeft nu dan eindelijk een plaatsje weten te veroveren, de aanhouder wint zullen we maar zeggen.

Over grote hits gesproken daar hoort Billy Ocean natuurlijk ook bij met zijn When the Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going het leuke clipje zal hier best aan hebben bijgedragen.

De Pet Shop Boys behouden de 1e plaats, maar zien Talk Talk wel steeds dichterbij komen en waar Sandra als een speer gaat met het "typische" jaren 80 nummer In The Heat Of The Night.

De jaarlijst zal uiteraard later deze week nog geplaatst worden hier.

1985 was een iets minder goed hitjaar dan de vorige jaren (het gemiddelde is onder de 6 gezakt) en dat heeft ongetwijfeld te maken met de toename van de fabriekspop en de vaak slechte producties met gladde synths en mechanische syndrums wat typisch was in die tijd. Ook de melige schlagers zijn niet van de lucht getuige de flop-10. Daarnaast zijn er ook veel prima tijdloze hits met name van Bruce Springsteen, U2, Talking Heads, Eurythmics, Tears for Fears, Kate Bush, Sting ... die het jaar 1985 kleurden.

Wat valt er nog van te zeggen?
The Smiths met de meeste hits en vermoedelijk toch ook wel band van het jaar.

Verreweg de meeste singles heb ik nog wel in bezit, ik kocht vroeger zoveel nieuwe singles dat ik er een wekelijkse Top 30 van kon maken. In januari 1986 stopte ik met het kopen van singles, anders dan een hele enkele af en toe en wat 2e hands inhaalwerk.

Dat vergt voor mij veel nogal wat meer afluisterwerk want kennismaking met onbekendere nummers dan voorheen. Maar wel iets om naar uit te kijken!

De glorieuze winnaar van het muziekjaar 1985 is Appetie van Prefab Sprout geworden, deze single stond maar liefst 10 weken op nummer 1 in mijn lijst en daardoor stond de nummer 1 wel vast voor dit kalenderjaar Appetite is overigens afkomstig van het 'betoverende' mooie album 'Steve McQueen'

Het muziekjaar 1985 wil ik wel belonen met een 7,5 een meer dan goed jaar wel, maar 1986 gaat hoger scoren bij mij.

Nou beste mensen, de 52 weeklijsten zijn verwerkt en hier is dan de definitieve jaarlijst over het jaar 1985.

De misschien (??) verrassende nummer 1 is Kayleigh van Marillion geworden alhoewel verrassend dit nummer stond maar liefst 21! weken in de lijst en ja dan sprokkel je natuurlijk aardig wat punten bij elkaar .... en saillant detail Kayleigh zelf stond overigens geen één keer op nummer 1 in de weeklijst.
Kayleigh behoort in Nederland tot één van hun grotere hits in de Top 40 en daarmee was de 'definitieve' doorbraak wel een feit voor deze band in ons landje en mag Kayleigh best een 'klassieker' genoemd worden.

Echo & The Bunnymen is een goede 2e geworden met Bring On The Dancing Horses en opvallend genoeg geen hit geworden in de Top 40, want het is eigenlijk het meest toegankelijke nummer van deze band althans dat vind ik, het heeft een fijne melodie, ligt méér dan goed in het gehoor en het meezingen lukt ook wel
Gelukkig kreeg deze single wel zijn waardering in de diverse lijsten waar hij op nummer 1 terecht kwam in de lijsten van Johan, Luigifort en Martial en uiteraard in de verrukkelijke 15.

U2 met één van hun klassiekers The Unforgetabble Fire had lange tijd zicht om als winnaar uit de bus te komen, maar werd op den duur ingehaald door de bovenste twee nummers en komt op plaats 3 terecht en voor vele is dit nummer toch wel één van hun pareltjes uit het repertoire van deze band, het nummer zelf kent geen 'zwakke' momenten heeft een mooie opbouw en eindigt al net zo mooi en de stem van Bono doet de rest.... een prachtplaatje dus

The Smiths zijn net zoals vorig jaar weer het meest vertegenwoordigd in de jaarlijst met maar liefst 6 nummers (hoezo populair?) en waar The Headmaster Ritual het beste scoort op nummer 4.

Het product uit eigen land had het wederom 'zwaar" dit jaar en er kwamen maar 3 nummers door tot in de weeklijst en dat waren:

Frank Boeijen Groep - Kronenburg Park (Ga Die Wereld Uit)
The Dutch - Another Sunny Day

De langst genoteerde nummer 1 is Kate Bush met Running Up That Hill geworden en stond totaal 6 weken op nummer 1 en de meeste punten in één week werden gehaald door de The Waterboys met Don't Bang The Drum en dat waren er om precies te zijn 104.

Tot volgend jaar (1986) zullen we maar zeggen

Verrassende nummer 1. Heb wel eens overwogen hier mee te doen, maar ik kan me niet voorstellen dat Kayleigh in mijn lijst zou hebben gestaan. Hoe dan ook, mooi topic en leuk om af en toe ontdekkingen uit op te doen. Op de achtergrond blijf ik het volgen en als er ooit nog eens 10 dagen in een week worden gestopt doe ik ook actief mee.

prachtige lijst natuurlijk met een zelfs voor mij ook wel verrassende nummer 1. Uiteraard was te zien dat dit lied het langst in de lijst stond van allemaal. Dat kwam omdat deze bij Ranboy vrij laat binnenkwam maar wel enorm goed scoorde waardoor hij maar rond de 10de plek bleef hangen voor weken en weken.

Het s een leuk feitje maar de eindlijst is niet zo belangrijk (vind ik), de lol van het lijstjes maken is vele malen groter, zeker in een fijn jaar als 1985

Martial heel erg bedankt!!!

Prachtige eindlijst inderdaad, ik heb er ook zo'n 65 van in mijn lijst gehad, waarvan er zo'n 40 ook terug zijn te vinden in mijn top 100.
Dank voor het werk. Martial! Dankbaar werk, want zoals ik al eerder aangaf vind ik dit het sterkste jaar van de jaartopics. En van 1986 verwacht ik ook heel veel
