Dank allen weer voor alle lijsten voor week 19 over het jaar 1980!

Allereerst natuurlijk beterschap gewenst aan Marzipaintree, die zich vanwege ziek zijn moet excuseren. Gezondheid gaat uiteraard voor alles dus ik wens hem vanaf hier een heel voorspoedig herstel.

Tegelijkertijd moet ik Gerdav van harte welkom heten bij dit topic. Uiteraard dank alvast voor alle interesse maar dit moet mij zeker van het hart: Gerdav werd user van de site en het allereerste bericht dat hij plaatste was bij dit topic. Of hij mee mocht doen. Zoveel toewijding vanaf het begin heb ik eigenlijk nog nooit meegemaakt. Dat is ook een niet meer te overtreffen record. Dus heel veel plezier en succes gewenst!

Japan herneemt de leiding, maar niet zonder een fors verlies aan punten. Fischer Z is aan een nieuwe jeugd begonnen (vier eerste plaatsen) en stijgt weer naar 2.

Er zat sowieso veel verlies aan de bovenkant van de lijst, even afgezien van Messages. Dat moesten de onderste plaatsen dan weer bekopen: veel punten waren nodig voor een plek in de lijst. Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark is wel gelijk gebombardeerd tot kanshebber voor de bovenste plaats.

En de aanhouder wint geldt voor de fanatieke Nina Hagen aanhang: eindelijk dan voldoende punten voor een plek in onze gezamenlijke lijst. Dat geldt ook voor Peter Gabriel en Pink Floyd. Zij hadden er alleen minder tijd voor nodig.

Mooi om te zien ook de gestage groei het laatste jaar van het aantal deelnemers. Jarenlang werkten we met een harde kern, maar de aanwas is nu zeker daar. En kom je als nummer ook niet meer maar zo onze gezamenlijke top 20 binnen.
En het komt ook mede door de vastberadenheid van musician om dit topic "aan de praat" te houden. Dat mag ook wel eens gezegd worden.

Klopt het dat dit een gecorrigeerde lijst is voor week 18, maar nu met nieuwe binnenkomers? En dat die lijst min of meer is geprolongeerd voor week 19? De kolom AW suggereert dat. De notering in de kolom week 17 stemt daarmee overeen.

De hoogste 2 binnenkomers komen uit de Polderpop TOP, waar veel fijne muziek valt te ontdekken.
Going Nowhere Fast (nomen est omen) komt na weken op de tiplijst te hebben gestaan eindelijk ook bij mij binnen. Dat heeft het wel voor een groot deel te danken aan het B-kantje.

Op zich klopt je observatie, alleen was het niet mijn bedoeling. Ik heb mijn lijst wat gehaast gepost en ben daardoor vergeten in excel een nieuwe kolom aan te maken voor week 19 en hierop te sorteren. De facto heb ik alleen nieuwe binnenkomers toegevoegd.

Dat sorteren ga ik nu niet alsnog doen, maar een kolom voor week 19 heb ik wel alsnog toegevoegd in mijn excel. Eigenlijk had de lijst er dan zo uit moeten zien:

Een hemeltergend fraaie single van Rod Stewart, nog van het album Foot loose and fancy Free, weliswaar een cover, wordt alsnog ingehaald door de Specials en een nog betere Thin Lizzy.

Dat gaat wat beloven in ieder geval. Ook Reo Speedwagon probeert het nog even met een oudje voordat 'hell breaks lose', als de band de grootste doorbraak in hun carriere gaan doormaken.

Een verrassend sterke ook van Charlie Daniels. Billy Joe heeft een opvolger klaar liggen en in Nederland kwam één van de grootste zomerhits van 1980 uit: Could you be loved van Bob Marley & The Wailers.

En één van de meest bizarre bandnamen ooit passeert ook de revue: de Splogenessabounds. Heerlijke Engelse, noem het maar, after punk.

Volgens mij RYM is deze van april 1980:

Maar kan goed zijn dat RYM fout zit. Discogs zet hem ook op 1981. Als ik naar de catalogusnummers kijk van de 2 verschillende uitgaven dan zou je op basis van een verwachten dat hij in 1980 uitkwam en op basis van de ander in 1981. Heb ook nog even Peel gecheckt, maar die draait hem überhaupt niet.

Via Discogs vind ik nog wel deze verzamelaar met allerlei singles die we hier nog niet zijn tegengekomen, dus ik neig wel naar 1981.

Dat nummer van Dr. Pop kon ik me totaal niet herinneren. Ze gaan zelfs de Top 40 halen (21 hoogste positie). Het nummer ‘World at war’ werd geproduceerd door Jaap Eggermont. (produceerde o.a. ook voor Earth & Fire, Sandy Coast, Livin’ Blues). Deze single bleek de enige hit van Dr.Pop en stond op hun titelloze debuutalbum. Verrassend aardige single.

Dat ziet er uit als een erg toffe verzamelaar!
