Inderdaad lult Johnny Marr maar wat. Dit in tegenstelling tot zaaf die alleen maar weer prachtige proza voortgebracht heeft
Dit is een zeer terechte nummer 1 wat mij betreft. Ik weet nog dat ik het voor het eerst op de radio hoorde en één van de weinige keren dat ik direct dacht dat ik naar iets écht anders dan anders zat te luisteren en het meteen geweldig vond. Dat er dan nog betere nummers op Beautiful Freak staan neemt niets weg van de kracht van deze single.

Opvallende winnaar. In 1996 waren eels en Radiohead 2 van mijn meest gedraaide bands, maar 23 jaar later zijn de nummer 1 en 2 niet in mijn top 50 terug te vinden. Al is Street Spirit nooit een van mijn favoriete tracks van The Bends geweest.

Mijn #1 heb ik ontdekt dankzij de (dubbele) soundtrack van Romeo + Juliet, de film met DiCaprio en Danes. Well done, Poek ! Wij zijn ook echt de enige twee die hier voor gestemd hebben, zo blijkt.

Olive met You're Not Alone (36) heb ik helemaal over 't hoofd gezien, ik had die zeker in mijn TOP 20 gezet.

En van Firestarter had ik verwacht dat die zéker in de TOP 20 zou zitten, maar die zit niet eens bij de 100 eerste ... ? Verrassend.
