De op voorhand gedoodverfde winnaar (op basis van Ladderprestaties uit het verleden) eindigt hier in RYM vs. MuMe op ruime afstand van het podium. Waar het Arcadisch Vuurtje in vervlogen tijden de prijzen aaneenreeg, wil het de laatste jaren nauwelijks meer lukken. De Rebellie, nog altijd wel een van de allergrootste hiaten in de Top 2000 (wie start er een nieuwe lobby voor 2024?). Het is immers een van dé ultieme indierockklassiekers van de 00s, en echt wel een duidelijke fan favorite. Tevens het favoriete nummer van Eberhard van der Laan (verantwoordelijk voor de mooiste Zomergasten ooit, johan de witt weet )

Eenmalig finalist in de MuMeLadder (2020), toen stevig in de middenmoot. Maar in dit spel zorgt Nick Drake voor een heuse stunt door met Het Hemeltje comfortabel op het podium te eindigen. De verschillen aan de top waren miniem. De Vlamingen onder ons die het zonde vinden dat ze deze legendarische - maar helaas vroeg overleden - singer-songwriter nooit live konden zien doen er wellicht goed aan om dit jaar een van de voorstellingen van Remembered For A While, The Days of Nick Drake te bezoeken. Hierbij brengen gewaardeerde Vlaamsche indiejannen zoals Jantje Swerts een live hommage aan de muziek van onze MuMeGrootheid

We spreken december 2014, de feestdagen komen met rappe schreden dichterbij. De bittere nasmaak van de zomer, die door de MH17-tragedie en de grote teen van Javier Mascherano niet de meest genietbare is, wordt weggespoeld met de muzikale hoogtepunten van het jaar (de 9e MuMeLadder Finale, de 2e Witte Trui-zondag en de 16e Radio Top 2000). De laatste wint in rap tempo aan populariteit bij de muzieksnobs/lijstjesfreaks/cheerleaders/glueboys, want met z'n allen 7 dagen lang nostalgische (OLM) plaatjes marathon-CSL'en en er oeverloos over keuvelen is toch een stuk aanlokkelijker dan gourmetten met de schoonfamilie en Home Alone 1 voor de triljoenste keer te moeten aanschouwen.) De smaakvolle discussies in het draadje van Radio 2's lijst der lijsten wakkeren de Top 2000-koorts al vroeg aan, maar waaien daarnaast over naar Toplijsten (centraal topic). Daar start een handjevol users van de harde kern uit verveling (na het befaamde zwarte gat volgend op het MuMeLadder-finaleweekend) de traditionele halfjaarlijkse discussie over de opzet van de Album Top 250, die inmiddels al bijna 10 jaar hetzelfde is en steeds vaker lijkt te resulteren in een vastgeroeste lijst.

Marty’s Knalgezellige Kerst slaat een jaartje over, de inmiddels befaamde Whamageddon (2010-heden) is nog niet mainstream genoeg voor ons aller MuMe en de deletionisten onder aanvoering van The Banner van Wikipedia (NL) hebben het lemma over MusicMeter nog niet ontdekt. Waardoor Toplijsten (centraal topic) voor even de populairste draad van heel MusicMeter wordt

Good old Jordy - MuMe’s opperbaas voor de machtsovername door FanReach B.V. - besluit na een uitvoerige, levendige (en soms verhitte) discussie binnen de MuMe-gemeenschap - dat de Album Top 250 voortaan berekend zal worden op basis van de persoonlijke top 10-lijsten van énkel de actieve MusicMeter-gebruikers. Het blijkt een historische mijlpaal te zijn in de geschiedenis van MuMe, want de Album Top 250 transformeert in het begin van het nieuwe jaar (2015) als nooit tevoren. Eerder in 2014 krijgen alle Metersites al een compleet nieuw design. De hoogtijdagen qua unieke bezoekers liggen dan net een paar jaar achter ons, maar MusicMeter is klaar voor de toekomst en de tweede decade van haar bestaan

Het Centrale Topic Toplijsten waarin de transformatie van de Album Top 250 werd besproken (inclusief simulaties o.b.v. de RYM-/IMDB-formule en een Alternatieve Top 250 met de hoogste stemgemiddeldes) is op raadselachtige wijze ter ziele gegaan (Pagina niet gevonden - MusicMeter.nl). Zelfs meter_fan en dion.ollie wisten van niets Maar de MuMe'ers van het eerste uur herinneren zich waarschijnlijk allemaal nog wel de opvallende verschillen tussen de nieuwe Top 250 van actieve users en de oude van de gehele usergemeenschap in de periode 2004-2014. Mocht je benieuwd zijn, met de Wayback Machine is het eenvoudig om even terug te gaan in de tijd.

Nu is het de hoogste tijd om de kwaliteit van de oude (oldskool) Album Top 250 (van >10 jaar geleden) eens te gaan vergelijken met die van de huidige (nieuwerwetse) Album Top 250, en zodoende dit toffe dueltopic eens nieuw leven in te blazen. Want wat leent zich hier beter voor dan een interactief knock-out spelletje?

De deelnemers zijn als volgt gekozen:

Albums die steady in de huidige Top 250 staan voegen zich bij Team Nieuwerwets. Team Oldskool bestaat grotendeels uit iconische albums die op enig moment tussen 10 maart 2004 en 31 december 2014 in de albumlijst der albumlijsten hebben gestaan. Daarnaast een klein albumklassiekers die al sinds jaar en dag zakken in de huidige lijst en mogelijk binnenkort zullen wieberen.

Team Nieuwerwets krijgt tevens nog een kleine 10 moderne klassieker erbij (die er op enig moment al in de Top 250 hebben gestaan) zodat we met de praktische aantallen 256 vs. 256 kunnen gaan spelen.

- De vaste knock-outregels zijn van kracht. Graag alvast een nieuwe (tweede) battle plaatsen als de huidige nog niet beslist is na 24u, dan blijven we in de flow. We zoeken vervolgens nog max. 24u naar een beslissende stem voor de openstaande battle.
- De 24-uursregel geldt dus waar nodig.
1. Als 24 uur na plaatsing van de battle geen van beide nummers op het afgesproken puntenaantal zit wordt een nieuwe battle geplaatst.
2. Bij gelijke stand na 24 uur wordt eveneens een nieuwe battle geplaatst, maar er wordt daarnaast nog, maximaal 24 uur extra, naar een beslissende stem van die eerste battle gezocht.
3. Wordt de beslissende stem niet meer gevonden, dan wint het nummer dat het laatst op voorsprong gestaan heeft.
- Users maken voor zichzelf een afweging hoe uitvoerig ze albums dienen te kennen om een stem te kunnen uitbrengen. Het is niet verplicht om het betreffende album te hebben beoordeeld met een aantal sterren.
- Gaarne pro-actief een nieuwe battle (proberen te) plaatsen wanneer jij diegene bent die de vorige beslist.
- Plezier staat voorop. Bedenk altijd dat dit enkel een forumspelletje is, vooral niet te serieus nemen dus.
