Color Palette's Heartless klinkt zeker goed. Die gaat in week 29 zeer waarschijnlijk een van de nieuwe binnenkomers worden. Heb trouwens bij die clip meteen nog wat leuke ontdekkingen gedaan in de rechterkolom van YouTube. Die check ik meestal ook gelijk even.

1tje voor de Shoegazeliefhebbers, wel niet zeker of dit een single is maar jullie zoeken dat wel uit. Dan weet ik over 2 weken als ik weer ga meedoen of het in mijn lijst kan zetten. Fantastisch nummer !

Week 27: dezelfde 21 deelnemers als vorige week. Torres verliest de eerste plek aan Foals. Er zijn 6 nieuwe binnenkomers die het gehalte hiphop en electronic(a) in de lijst weer wat opkrikken. LA Priest stoomt door naar de tweede plek. Het langstgenoteerde nummer No Harm van Editors valt bijna uit de lijst, maar het succes voor de Britse band is voorlopig nog niet opgedroogd: hun volgende single Marching Orders komt hoog binnen op 4 en is samen met LA Priest de belangrijkste kandidaat om het nummer 1-stokje weer over te nemen van Foals.

Een nieuwe nummer 1 voor Mahsa Vahdat. Zolf bar baad (wind in vlechten) is een tragisch romantisch verhaal geschreven in de 14e eeuw door Hafez. Mahsa schreef de melodie. Het verhaal speelt zich af in het jaar 590 na Christus. Farhad een beroemde beeldhouwer wordt verliefd op Shirin, de princes van Armenië. Khosrow de prins van Iraan is ook verliefd en eist haar op. Deze prins verbant de beeldhouwer naar de berg Behistrun in west Iraan met de opdracht om een trap in de berg te maken. Farhad gaat goed aan de slag en hoopt dat de liefde overwint. Prins Khosrow wordt bang en stuurt een bode naar de berg met de mededeling dat princes Shirin overleden is. Farhat pleegt zelfmoord.

Prachtige nieuwe, met voor het eerst het binnenkomen van bands als de Libertines, Hollis Brown en Everything Everything. Opmerkelijk sterke nummers, waarbij de Libertines ook nog fijn zomers overkomen.
Ook slechts nog maar een paar dagen uit, de nieuwe singles van Noel Gallagher en Holy Holy, waarvoor dank richting JoaMuse en Vince Vega.

Gallagher heeft het meest stevige nummer van zijn laatste cd genomen, terwijl Holy Holy, de vorige keer meer luidruchtig, deze keer wat gas terug neemt. In beide gevallen klinkt het prima.

Er is weer een flinke frisse wind door de lijst gegaan. Veel fantastische nieuwe muziek weer, in allerlei soorten en maten. Van de soul/R&B van Bilal en Miguel tot de Poolse wereldmuziek van Warsaw Village Band, en van de spannende, sfeervolle, experimentele en lang uitgerekte electronica van Gavin Russom tot een pakkend synthpopliedje van Rangleklods.

Of wat te denken van de dreampop van Beach House, het pakkende instrumentaaltje van Haiku Salut, het prachtige folkliedje van The Weather Station, en de comebacksingle van de welbekende M.I.A.

Algiers weet me nog steeds keer op keer te overdonderen met het waanzinnige Irony. Ultility. Pretext, en stijgt daarmee terug naar de eerste plaats. Wát een nummer! Jammer dat verder niemand die heeft opgepikt...

05: Timbre is deze week mijn grootste ontdekking. Geweldige folkmuziek van deze mevrouw uit Nashville, die zowel prachtig zingt als harp speelt.
20: Maxxi Soundsystem is een van mijn favoriete danceproducers van de laatste jaren en ook dit is weer een erg fijne ingetogen warmbloedige zwoele sexy houseplaat.
31: Brandon Flowers kennen we natuurlijk van The Killers, een band die ik nooit echt boeiend heb gevonden. Solo volg ik hem niet zo, maar dit is toch wel een toffe ontdekking. Het lettertype van de opening titles van de clip zeggen eigenlijk alles al: dit is gewoon perfecte jaren '80 pop a la Stevie Nicks ofzo, maar dan gemaakt in 2015. Ik vind dit wel wat voor musician eigenlijk.
32: Beck's Dreams is weer lekker opgewekt na zijn dromerige Morning Phase.
36: The Radio Dept is terug met een lange midtempo-retrohouse-plaat die in de verte aan Cut Copy doet denken, maar dan met meer een after party gevoel. En er zit een synthgeluid in dat doen denken aan de theme van Twin Peaks.
37: James Holden heeft iets nieuws, maar niemand die het oppikt? Ik kon het bijna niet geloven, ook omdat het wel heel erg 'old school' klinkt. Nu blijkt dit een nieuwe versie te zijn van een nummer dat hij in 2003 al uitbracht. Het had bv. zo op zijn Balance mixcd kunnen staan. Wel hele mooie progressive house. Op Spotify staat de complete versie, die is beter dan de YouTube-link.
39: Duran Duran ft. Janelle Monáe & Nile Rodgers zou ik als ik bij 3FM werkte ergens bovenaan hun playlist zetten, samen met Brandon Flowers, The Weeknd, etc. Zo zou goede popmuziek toch moeten klinken. Catchy, feelgood... zou tof zijn als dit een hit kon worden, wat mij betreft is het leuk genoeg in ieder geval.
40: Roisin Murphy's nieuwe is lang niet zo catchy, een beetje stug zelfs. Maar dit nummer blijft intrigeren op de een of andere manier. Mooi ook die subtiele lage synth die een beetje naar de Star Wars theme hint.
