Ik kan Johnny Marr anders wel volgen. Voor mij is Document 'gewoon' een goede R.E.M.-plaat, net zoals zijn voorgangers en opvolger in de 80s (en misschien vind ik die zelfs nog ietsje beter). Sign O The Times is meer one of a kind in het oeuvre van de respectievelijke artiest, een plaat die alle grote ambities ook volledig waarmaakt en de artistieke horizonten van het lijdend voorwerp nog verder openbreekt.

R.E.M. is fantastisch ja, maar ook ik vind dat Document lang niet op hetzelfde niveau zit als SOTT. Maar verder doen we deze lijst ook gewoon voor de fun en niet om iets voor eens en voor altijd vast te leggen, dus echt druk kan ik me niet maken over de stand. Dat The Joshua Tree ging winnen stond bijvoorbeeld ook in de sterren geschreven

U2's pareltje, al is Achtung Baby wat mij betreft gelijkwaardig, maar zo ver zijn we nog niet.
Jammer dat The Sound's zwanenzang( Thunder Up) in geen velden of wegen te bekennen is.
Dan maar Cult, ook goed.
Ome Tom W ook wat teleurstellend in de lijst.
Verder prima lijstje.
Bovenin wat voorspelbaar, maar kwalitatief prima in orde.

Ik vind de eerste helft erg goed en de tweede helft pure klasse.

Ik heb Document gewoon op een 4 hoor, staan schitterende songs op. Maar als album vind ik m hier overschat, mag ik toch gewoon vinden? Up vind ik dan weer gruwelijk onderschat van hen.

REM wel erg hoog. Toch een stap terug na de twee vorige platen. Voor mij na Reckoning hun minste uit de 80s. Over U2 zullen we het maar niet hebben (viel bij mij buiten de top 20).

Mee eens. Magisch de 2e helft.
