Een magere oogst als het gaat om de nieuwe binnenkomers deze week dat zijn er slechts 2 en waar The Triffids met hun EP Field Of Glass de hoogste is op nummer 11, die andere is die leuke single van Everything But The Girl.

Het is U2 nog niet gelukt om de 1e plaats over te nemen van The Smiths, ondanks dat U2 inmiddels al bij 4 lijstjesmakers op 1 staat.

Rick Springfield doet zeer goede zaken in zijn 2e week en ook The Smiths doen het als verwacht weer goed, maar is dat nog een verrassing en lijkt de vrije val van de Simple Minds definitief ingezet.

Acht nieuwe binnenkomers begroeten we deze week in de lijst, waarvan er overigens al een aantal in de andere lijsten te vinden zijn.

Marillion op nummer 15 komt met hun klassieker Kayleigh wat direct ook de "grote doorbraak" betekende voor deze band en als we het toch over klassiekers hebben daar hoort het prachtige Kronenburg Park van de Frank Boeijen Groep natuurlijk ook bij, de mooie en vooral sfeervolle synths vallen hier op, een knap staaltje Nederpop

Onvervalste jaren 80 disco komen we tegen van Aurra met dat lekkere Like I Like It, de zeer herkenbare stem van John Fogerty horen we in die leuke single Rock And Roll Girls voorbij komen.

Jimmy Nail komt dan nog met een alleraardigste cover van Rose Royce en zorgen de New Model Army nog voor wat "stevigheid" aan het eind van de lijst, kortom aan muzikale variatie geen gebrek deze week

Bovenin zit het potdicht. The Headmaster Ritual voor de 2e week bovenaan, buiten de top 5 wel een aantal verschuivingen.

Mooie nieuwen van de anderen. Dit nummer van Eurythmics heb ik altijd een van de leukste van ze gevonden.
Frank Boeijen komt met een van zijn allerbeste liedjes en Marillion komt binnen met hun grootste hit, waarschijnlijk de eerste en laatste keer dat ze mijn lijst halen, maar je weet nooit.

Zelf kom ik met de 3e single van Madonna van het album Like A Virgin. Niet een van haar bekendste nummers, maar toch weer leuk.

Verder het eerste nummer van de Water EP van Engelse Post-Punk band The Wolfgang Press, die ook bij 4AD zaten, interessant en goed nummer moet ik zeggen.

Als laatste mijn hoogste binnenkomer, afkomstig van de band Flowers For Agatha, ook een Engelse Post-Punk band. Slechts 2 EP's en 1 single uitgebracht, maar dit is een mooitje.

De hele top 5 blijft staan. Dat is wel een teken van kwaliteit.

Op 26 de lekkere plaat van The Dream Academy, vaak gesampled, nooit overtroffen. Door het vrolijke refrein zou je bijna vergeten dat het eigenlijk een sombere tekst is.

Op 30 de opvolger van de hit van het jaar 1984, When all's well van Everything but the Girl. Leuk plaatje, en Tracy Thorne is altijd goed, maar het haalt het toch niet bij Each and everyone.

Op 31 de eerste single van monsteralbum Brothers in arms; alleen begon het juist wat moeizaam met een single die maar net de top 40 wist te halen. So far away heeft een ouderwets Dire Straits-geluid, laid back, neigend naar saaiheid.

Op 32 een verrassend sterke single van Foreigner, vooral dankzij de zeer gepassioneerde zang van Lou Gramm.

Op 35 doet Paul Young waar hij goed in is, een smaakvolle song coveren (ditmaal van Hall & Oates) met blue eyed soul en bijdetijdse productie.

1. David Grant & Jaki Graham - Could It Be I'm Falling In Love
Oorspronkelijk van The Spinners, deze versie is niet onaardig maar iets minder soulvol.
Cijfer: 6

4. BZN - The Summertime
Klinkt vlotter en minder melig dan hun meeste andere hits met zowaar een fijne gitaar, de zomerse sfeer zit er volop in.
Cijfer: 6,5

16. Danny De Munk - Mijn Meissie
Nog niet slecht, ik kan het meer waarderen dan Ik Voel mij zo Verdomd Alleen al lijkt die rockgitaar haaks te staan op zijn stem.
Cijfer: 5,5

24. Alison Moyet - That Ole Devil Called Love
Smaakvol jazzy nummer dat een retro gevoel geeft maar toch tijdloos. Haar volle zang vind ik er perfect in passen, jammer dat ze niet meer platen in die stijl heeft opgenomen.
Cijfer: 8,5

26. ZZ Top - Legs
ZZ Top was die tijd plots hip met 3 hits kort na elkaar. Klinkt natuurlijk meer poppy dan vroeger werk zonder hun karakteristieke sound te verloochenen.

27. Bryan Adams - Run To You
Passionele rocksong met duister randje en ijzersterke zang, nog niet zo glad als zijn latere werk. Dit was Bryan Adams op zijn best.

28. Roberto Jacketti and The Scooters - One Day's Enough
Werd destijds als boysband beschouwd maar ik vind dit meer allure en vitaliteit hebben dan de latere, jaren '90-boysbands. Natuurlijk simpel en weinig hoogstaand maar dat verwacht je niet in dit soort nummers.

29. Kim Wilde - Rage To Love
Neigt naar rockabilly door het ritme en de bas maar de zang en de synths bepalen meer het geluid. Niet haar beste maar vindingrijker dan haar vorige hit The Touch.

30. Talking Heads - Once In A Lifetime [Live]
Talking Heads was destijds één van de beste livebands maar de studioversie vind ik net iets beter en dat heeft met de achtergrondzang te maken. Natuurlijk wel een prima song met opzwepend ritme.

Was vorige week de oogst nog mager als het gaat om het aantal nieuwe binnenkomers, deze week wordt dat ruimschoots ingehaald maar met maar liefst 7 nieuwelingen.

Simply Red komt dan als hoogste nieuwe binnen op nummer 13 met Money's Too Tight (To Mention) die aan de vooravond staan van heel wat hits de komende jaren.

Marillion met Kayleigh is nog maar net uit en komt nu al binnen in de weeklijst op 15, dit moet haast wel een hoge notering op gaan leveren de komende weken zou je zeggen.

En het was u waarschijnlijk al opgevallen U2 heeft The Smiths van de troon gestoten als het gaat om de nummer 1 notering en waar Foreigner het vooralsnog goed blijft doen.

Wat de nieuwen betreft: Rose Of Avalanche is Een Britse Alternative Rock band uit Leeds. Dit is hun eerste single, die bereikte meteen de 1e plaats in de UK Independent Charts.

Lowlife kennen de meeste mensen misschien wel. Ze komen uit Schotland, deze Alternative/Dreampopband met o.a. in de gelederen ex-Cocteau Twins Bassist Will Heggie. Dit is het eerste nummer van hun succesvolle Rain EP.

Als laatste nog een mooie single van de Spaanse Indie-rockband La Dama Se Esconde.

Er is nauwelijks enige ruimte voor wat boeiend succes. Er zijn zo 60 actuele nummers die goed zijn en die prop ik dan in de 30 beste. En daar is eigenlijk nauwelijks beweging in te krijgen. Andersom zou ik ik bands als Prefab Sprout en The Art of Noise alle succes willen gunnen: er is geen ruimte.

Prince en Marillion zijn deze week dan natuurlijk onontbeerlijk. Ik heb zowaar een aardige clip van His Royal Badness weten te vinden: hij is toch wel weer heerlijk op dreef, waar ik bij Marillion het idee heb dat er beter werk op Misplaced childhood is terug te vinden. Dat weet ik eigenlijk wel zeker.

johan de witt en musician waarop baseren jullie de binnenkomst van Raspberry Beret ? Ik kom tot nu toe nergens verder dan 15 mei en dan misschien een weekje eerder uitgegeven.
Ik lees het graag, want dan kan ik Prince's beste nummer ooit ook opnemen in mijn nieuwe weeklijst. En dan heeft het op de US uitgave ook nog eens misschien wel zijn allerbeste B-kant ooit: She's Always In My Hair

Ik zie ook juni 1985 en kom als eerste datum ook 15 mei tegen. Precies ook de versie waar Poeha het over heeft, de VS versie met die betreffende b kant.

Het album is iig van 22 April.

Ik gok voorzichtig op de Verrukkelijke 15 waar dit nummer in de lijst van 30 april binnenkomt.

Voor de rest "opvallend" dat Prefab Sprout nu pas bij sommige in de lijst staat, bij Johan en mij stond When Love Breaks Down vorig jaar al in de lijst, ik dacht bij 50tracks ook, maar aangezien 50tracks hem nu ook in zijn lijst heeft opgenomen zal ik daar wel naast zitten

Zelf wacht ik op het wonderschone Appetite (augustus) van het al net zo wonderschone album Steve McQueen

Appetite is verschrikkelijk mooi maar eerst krijgen we nog Faron Young geloof ik..ook prachtig

Raspberry Beret heb ik inderdaad gebaseerd op zijn V15-entry op 30 april. Ik ben ervan uitgegaan dat hij dan een week eerder in de tiplijst stond en dus hier opgenomen kan worden.
Voor mij ook een van Prince's beste singles

Desgevraagd zie ik wel de single Paisley Park over een paar weken in de Tipparade binnen komen.
Dus daar zit ik dan weer met de vraag wie eigenlijk eerst....

Ja de VK15 bevat natuurlijk ook nog (niet) singles omdat albums net uitkwamen, dat hebben we hier al eerder gezien. De VK15 bevat zelfs ook soms albumtracks. Paisley Park is id ook n leuke van m!
In dit geval kwam Paisley rond 7 Mei uit en Raspberry rond 15 Mei..ook wel apart dat Prince dat zo kort achter elkaar deed

Ik denk eigenlijk dat de VS en wij in Europa een verschillend debuut hebben meegemaakt.
Raspberry beret werd ook pas later een hit in de Top 40.
