Ja maar dat is ook een lijst van toen In de lijsten van nu komen ze niet of eventueel heel laag voor.

Zowel Gail Ann Dorsey als One 2 Many (was er zelfs ds eerste mee) staan in mijn nieuw gevormde lijsten. Helaas loop ik wegens omstandigheden flink achter.

Misschien is dat ook een deel van de verklaring, dat lijstjes van nu soms zo ver voorlopen op lijstjes van toen dat tegen de tijd dat ze in de oude lijsten verschijnen bij de nieuwe lijstjesmakers al buiten beeld zijn geraakt. En dan moet je maar net zin hebben op basis van wat ik of ranboy er bij schrijven, of het zien verschijnen in Angelo's lijst te gaan opzoeken wat het is. En dan zijn we in totaal ook maar met weinig
Dat merk ik in 1994/95 ook wel... soms komt bij ranboy of Angelo iets binnen wat bij mij al over het hoogtepunt is, dan denk ik wel 'daar had ik best nog even mee kunnen wachten' (en soms juist andersom, als ik die later gepland had maar blijkbaar toen al bekend was mag die mij ook al vast)

One2Many met Downtown heeft in de 2de en 3de week van december in mijn lijst gestaan op de 29ste en 27ste plek. Dus een klein beetje leuk maar niet meer dan dat

Op 17 REM met Stand, al in een paar lijstjes hier gezien. REM in optima forma.
Op 28 een boeiende vergeten plaat van The Amazing Stroopwafels (ja, van Oude Maasweg 14.45). Deze song is in dezelfde lijn, sfeervol, en vanwege het onderwerp, de Watersnoodramp van 1953, zelfs beklemmend.
Op 32 Big area van Then Jerico; de band is vooral bekend van The motive (geweldig!), maar ook deze mag er zijn (hoogstens wat gedateerd).
Op 36 een prima popsong van Simply Red en op 38 mag ook Poison met de knuffelrocker Every rose has its thorn aan de lijst ruiken.

week 5 van 1989 met slechts 2 binnenkomers... en wat voor.
Hoogste is Will to Power, net zat ik de clip te kijken en schoot bijna in de lach toen ik meneer met snor stoer op de motor zag. Als hij dat nu terug ziet wat denkt-ie dan? Maar goed, het gaat om de muziek, niet om de snor. Die is zoetgevooisd (ja de muziek dus, nog steeds niet de snor) en een van de eerste mash-ups die een hit werd.
Onderaan dan ook nog Perfect Day, compleet vergeten en dat is ook niet zo gek gezien het 'succes' wat ze bij mij gaan halen. Ik dacht even aan Deacon Blue maar nee dat zou teveel eer zijn, toch wel een stukje poppier.

De oude Crosby heeft het maar druk. Eerst de grote reünie met Stills, Nash & Young en blijkbaar, ook al een zeldzaamheid, zowaar een eigen solo album.

Vreemd genoeg, zou het kwartet CSN&Y meer moeten zijn dan de som der delen. Dat was bij hun eerste album Déjà vu ooit ook zo. Maar óf David Crosby vond dat hij te weinig ruimte kreeg op het laatste CSN&Y album en neemt nu wraak met een fantastische single. Of American Dream was een CSN&Y project dat meer gezien moet worden als family album. Laten we niet vergeten dat ook Neil Young dit jaar nog behoorlijk om zich heen zal slaan met Rockin' in the free world.

Wat dat betreft hadden deze beide tracks niet misstaan op American dream, behalve dan dat de samenzang node wordt gemist.

en hier is de spannende weeklijst nummer 5 van 1989, gebaseerd op 9 verse lijsten inclusief nu Marzipaintree, als straks Poeha weer aansluit zitten we mooi op 10.

Het lag deze week erg dicht bij mekaar, maar Duran Duran haalde toch nog fel uit en wint overduidelijk, kreunend en wel. Voor Marc en Gene niet alleen verlies van de nummer 1 positie ,maar die vallen ook alweer bij sommige lijstjes geheel weg. De nieuwe REM maakt de top 3 volledig, met een reuzesprong gaat Stand zijn voorganger achterna die de nummer 1 ook een weekje bezette.

De concurrentie zit echter niet stil en de Schotse vrienden van de Simple Minds komen zoals voorspeld nu binnen, iets bescheidener dan ik had verwacht op nummer 11. Belfast child lijkt mij wel een top 3 kandidaat.
Ook Morrissey is weer van de partij met het vrij vrolijk klinkende The last of the famous international playboys, het anthem van Russell Brand. Ook voor Mozza zit er veel meer in het vat.

Helemaal onderaan dan nog een puntig popliedje van XTC en het feest van Kraze maakt een herintrede.

De Fine Young Cannibals zitten al weken aan te hikken op een binnenkomst, misschien dan volgende week. En verder gok ik op een verdere doorbraak voor Paradise city van Axl en co.

De houdbaarheidsdatum van mijn lijstjes kwam niet overeen met de weeknummers.

Belfast Child bereikt al in de derde week de eerste plaats; de vraag is alleen hoe lang hij deze kan blijven houden.
Vier binnenkomers, de hoogste is een heel fijne van The Nits, jarenlang leverancier van topsingles, al scoorden ze relatief weinig hits.
Op 30 het debuut van Roachford, Cuddly toy, een stevige discoplaat met een sterk refrein.
Op 32 een curieus plaatje van wat Nederlandse 'sterren' die op de melodie van Down town (Petula Clark) een ode aan het Veronica popprogramma Countdown zingen. De aanleiding weet ik niet meer; misschien hield het programma ermee op.
En op 35 XTC dat altijd leuke singles had, maar (ook) weinig hitsucces kende.

Ik kijk wel vluchtig of er iets verkeerds tussen staat, maar dit was mij ontgaan.

"Slechts" drie nieuwe binnenkomers wilde ik schrijven maar ja, met een top 20 is dat nu eenmaal alsnog een aardig aantal.

Ik heb wel in ieder geval een bizarre entree, die van de band Vow Wow en een metal versie van Helter Skelter. Zoals bekend geschreven door Lennon/McCartney.
Dan komt de band oorspronkelijk uit Japan, had aanvankelijk de naam Bow Wow, is gestart in 1975 en, reünie na reünie, bestaat nog steeds, zowel als de band Bow Wow én Vow Wow. Sommige zaken moet je misschien laten zoals het is en je er niet teveel in mengen.

Maar deze Helter Skelter is in ieder geval alleraardigst.

week 6 van 1989 waarbij de top 7 weer eens vrijwel vastzit maar er ook 7 binnenkomers zijn.
Hoogste binnenkomer is van Roachford, beetje net als Dan Reed een dancepopplaatje met gitaar al ligt de nadruk hier meer op de pop in tegenstelling tot Reed. Het werd in elk geval wel een grotere hit maar ook z'n enige geloof ik.
Living in a Box had een paar jaar eerder al hits gehad maar deed bij mij toen niks. Dat veranderde met deze energiebom met de titel Blow the House Down. Dát is veel meer mijn ding dan die vorige hits.
Bam to Bam Bam, de mannelijke Revelettes? Nou ja, boyband met als bekendste groepslid René Klijn. Waarom ik dit nou destijds zo leuk vond...
Gloria dan maar, de opvolger van monsterhit Can't Stay Away is het titelnummer van het eerste album waarop ze haar eigen naam gebruikt. Nou ja, nadat dat album is heruitgegeven met andere titel werd dit het titelnummer. Het is in elk geval al net zo'n gevoelige ballad als de vorige.
Paula Abdul maakte eind vorig jaar al een valse start in mijn lijst, nu met opvolger Straight Up lag de wereld even aan haar voeten. Dat is wat anders dan de voeten van anderen regisseren als choreograaf.
Dan is het weer tijd voor een sampleplaatje, dat zou wel eens de laatste kunnen zijn in mijn lijst. Sample Syndicate maakte 4 TBM Mixen (of 5) waarvan dit de tweede is.
Dan nog even Utrecht's trots de Novo Band met een compleet vergeten plaatje eigenlijk. Zelfs na beluisteren kwam het me nauwelijks bekend voor al is het natuurlijk direct herkenbaar als Novo Band.
