Ik had dit keer niet voldoende tijd om al die B-kantjes te beluisteren. Dus moeten we maar aannemen dat de helft van de single zo goed is dat die in mijn top 40 mag komen.

De meerderheid van de nieuwkomers valt onder het genre met de "S", Soul. En de rest onder het genre met de "R", Rock. Maar dat zijn wel allemaal bandjes die met een "S" beginnen.

Ik wil sowieso mijn muziekbibliotheek gaan verrijken met genres zodat ik mijn muzieksmaak beter duiden kan. Tot nog toe heb ik alleen het onderscheid klassiek en pop. Ik ga eerst maar eens een soort genre-boom opzetten. RYM helpt me daarbij.
De hoofdstam "Pop" bestaat uit zo'n 23 zijtakken en die vertakken zich daarna nog drie keer.
Dat wordt een meerjaren operatie want ik heb duizenden tracks die ik als kerstballen verhangen moet.
Maar niet alleen het aantal ballen ook het aantal takken is lastig.

Zo komt "Seasons" van Earth and Fire te hangen onder: Pop-Pop-Pop rock-Nederpop-ZH.
Hmm, daar ben ik dus voorlopig nog wel zoet mee.

Ik zal eens kijken of ik hier ook nog wat van kan maken.

Alweer een Nederlandse binnenkomer; Het Cocktail Trio met een bewerking van het nummer van The Scaffold. Voor de fans zal ik maar zeggen en daar ben ik er 1 van. Ik ken het nummer van Karel En De Welpjes, wat wel eens een pseudoniem van Het Cocktail Trio zou kunnen zijn.
Ruby Winters (32) heb ik opgepikt uit de HOT100 (99). Een mooi nummer.

Mijn top 40 over dit jaar. Dit betreft alle nummers die in 1969 binnenkwamen. Een aantal staan nog genoteerd, maar niemand zou What Goes On nog voorbij gaan. Ik heb alleen de punten van de nummers die in de top 20 stonden geteld.

Kolomduiding zal voor de doorgewinterde hitlijstenmakers eigenlijk niet nodig zijn, maar What Goes On haalde 268 punten, stond op 1 en stond 16 weken genoteerd in mijn top 20.

De Fransen deden het een stuk beter. De afgelopen jaren groeide Serge Gainsbourg uit tot één van mijn favoriete en meestgedraaide artiesten. Maar in zijn kielzog leerde ik ook Jacques Dutronc en Michel Polnareff wat beter kennen. Verder ontdekte ik dat grote Franse artiesten als Charles Aznavour, Johnny Hallyday en Gilbert Becaud mooie nummers hebben uitgebracht, maar nog veel meer middelmaat of erger.

Braziliaanse muziek blijft ook altijd een aandachtspunt, zeker in de jaren '60 met interessante stromingen als bossa nova en tropicalia. Os Mutantes, de band die ik een jaar of 10 geleden ontdekte, blijft de grootste favoriet, maar daarnaast is er nog wel e.e.a.. En dan heb ik Stan Getz en Joao Gilbert's Girl From Ipanema hier nog buiten gehouden.

Tenslotte Jamaica, het land waar in de jaren '60 rocksteady en ska voorzichtig in reggae transformeren. Ook hier was het soms flink zoeken in het oerwoud van releases, uitvinden welke labels interessant zijn en veel kaf (covers) van het koren scheiden. Ik heb nooit een overmatige interesse gehad in reggae of de genres die eraan vooraf gingen, maar dat is de laatste jaren ook wel bijgetrokken.

Al met al een enorme lijst. Mijn gevoel zegt dat ik best door kan met 1970, maar mijn verstand weet ik dat ik een stapje terug moet doen aangezien ik het in 2019 het veel te druk heb gehad en daarbij ook tegen mijn plafond ben aangelopen. Hoe dan ook waren het mooie jaren hier. Goed idee van heicro om 8 jaar terug dit topic te openen. Een topic dat uiteindelijk is uitgegroeid tot het topic waarvan ik het meest heb opgestoken op deze site. Ik was toen al wel een liefhebber van de Beatles, Stones, Kinks, etc., maar het was geweldig om hier mijn (60s) smaak pas echt te kunnen ontwikkelen en te merken dat met name soul mij toch ook wel goed ligt.

Het nummer lijkt verdacht veel op een oud Nederlands kinderliedje.

Dat kinderliedje stond al in 1941 in het boekje "Iene miene mutte" van Tony Röling.

Een heel mooi 2020 en 1970 toegewenst aan iedereen die dit leest.
Bij deze wens ik alvast Martial van harte welkom.

Nee, deze kende ik nog niet. Ik zit niet zo goed in het repertoire van the Scaffold of van de padvinderij.
Zo zie je maar weer dat overeenkomstige klanken van kinderliedjes ook in andere landen voorkomen.

En zo steek ik gelukkig zo nu en dan ook nog wat op van dit topic.

Dit nummer komt er bij mij nog aan. Hoewel het ook een LP-track is uit begin 1968 denk ik dat de singletrack van mei 1970 is.
Ik ben het wel eens met heicro dat het een zwaar onderschatte singersongwriter is.

1970 lijkt een beetje een jaar te worden waarin LP-tracks uit eerdere jaren op single worden uitgebracht (Voodoo chile - Jimi Hendrix, Tears of a clown -Smokey Robinson, Here comes the sun - Beatles, etc. etc.) .
Maar dat gebeurde in 1967, 1968 en 1969 ook al veel.
Daarom denk ik dat 1970 ook een onderschat jaar is.
Laten we over een jaar nog maar eens analyseren of dat inderdaad zo was.

Weer zeer goed verwoord. Bij mij is dat ook zo.
Het scheelt heel weinig ,maar mijn top 100 van 1969 heeft een iets lager rapportcijfer dan dat van 1967 en 1968.
Als je echter de albumtracks gaat meetellen dan wordt het verschil nog kleiner en wint 1969 het zelfs als je een top 200 of meer gaat maken.

Ik kijk naar de tracks want als we naar de complete singles (beoordeling A en B-kant) hadden gekeken dan was dit mijn top 5 geweest:
1. Creedence Clearwater Revival - Proud Mary / Born on the Bayou
2. The Rolling Stones - Honky tonk women / You can't always get what you want
3. The Beatles - Something / Come together

Het puntensysteem hanteer ik liever niet.
Dat komt omdat elke periode zwakke en sterke momenten kent en je aan de hand van punten niet kan zien wat een zwakke of sterke periode was.
Bovendien krijg je, wat heicro zegt, in de jaarovergangen als nadeel dat een erg goede klassieker te weinig punten verdient om hoog te eindigen.

Ik ga nu de tracks van 1969 op basis van rapportcijfers in mijn volgorde zetten.
Op trackbasis kijk ik net als in 1967 en 1968 naar alle tracks: singles en albums.
Sinds 1967 zien we een gestage toename van het aantal albumtracks dat als het op single was uitgebracht mijn top 100 had gehaald.
In 1967 waren dat er 17.
In 1968 nam het aantal toe naar 26.
In 1969 zijn het er inmiddels 32.

De eerste kolom betreft het totaal aantal tracks.
De singletracks krijgen in kolom 2 een volgorde nummertje, de albumtracks een A.

We gaan door tot 100 singletracks.

Maar helaas heb ik nauwelijks geografische gegevens bij mijn tracks bijgehouden. Ik zal dat vanaf dit jaar wel gaan doen zodat ik het voortaan makkelijker kan publiceren. Ik denk daarbij ook nog aan bepaalde genre lijstjes.

Deze lijst loopt vanaf mijn deelname (november 1965 tot en met december 1969).
Dat betekent dat ZZ en de Maskers, The Motions, Peter Koelewijn, Blue Diamonds en Johnny Lion al bij voorbaat kansloos zijn.

Opvallend is dat geen enkele track mijn top 3 gehaald heeft. En ik kan inmiddels verklappen dat dit voor de hele jaren 60 het geval is.

Ik heb namelijk inmiddels wekelijkse top 3 lijstjes vanaf 9 januari 1954. Voor januari 1954 zijn dit mijn nummer 1's:

In de jaren 50 heb ik dus wel een Nederlandse nummer 1. DSC was ook nog een keuze van herman in de 50s-meter.
Ik zal die jaren 50 lijst ooit eens completeren en dan in z'n geheel ergens op musicmeter publiceren op een toepasselijk moment.

Kinderliedjes lijkt mij het meest onderschatte genre op MuMe, maar ik moet bekennen dat ook ik niet wist dat het origineel uit Scandinavië komt. Roodkapje vinden we in een andere versie wel terug in mijn overzicht van nummer 1-hits. Die is niet Nederlandstalig, maar het Nederlandstalige lied doet het bij mij erg goed.

Waar we vaak in dit soort topics tegen aanlopen was het soms grote verschil tussen albumrelease en singlerelease in de tijd.
Opvallende voorbeelden zijn in het jaar 1970 The Jimi Hendrix Experience met "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" die 2 jaar na de albumtrack wordt uitgebracht en Smokey Robinson & The Miracles met "The Tears of a Clown" die 3 jaar na de albumrelease zit.
Deze nummers halen met gemak de RYM top 10 van 1970.
In 1975 zien we "Gimme Shelter" nummer 1 van dat jaar worden in de RYM lijst zes jaar na de albumtrack uit 1969. En in 2000 komt Nick Drake met "Pink Moon" 28 jaar na dato op een derde plek. Met die score haalt hij ook de derde plek in 1972.
Maar de vraag is interessant of Nick als hij destijds op single is uitgebracht mogelijk nog hoger had gestaan.

Sinds begin 1966 maak ik gebruik van deze RYM-lijsten en combineer die met 45cat, discogs en diverse andere bronnen (w.o. Billboard magazine, NME, Melody Maker, Aloha, Veronica top 40, UK top 40, USA Top 100, Acclaimed, Digital dreamdoor).
Dit jaar wil ik als basis de RYM single lijst doornemen omdat die een uitgebreide rating heeft. Bij mijn binnenkomers worden verbanden gelegd met andere uitgaven en ik wil aangeven of de waardering overeenkomt met de mijne.
Nadat ik mijn top 40 publiceer neem ik vanaf dit jaar mijn nieuwkomers door op volgordenummering in een apart bericht.

Aphrodites Child grootste hit in Nederlands was Rain and Tears. Die interpretatie van Pachelbels Canon in D haalde slechts een 26e plek bij mij. Bij Justus18 haalde die een 7e plek maar in de Veronica top 40 de 1e. En herman negeerde de godinnenzoon volledig in dit topic. Maar in dat andere topic ging hij erop los:
Mijn hoogste binnenkomer deze week heeft wel wat overeenkomstig en toch spreekt die mij veel meer aan. Ik ben deze pas echt gaan waarderen nadat Johan er mee aan haal ging.
Nee, niet johan de witt maar die fantastische Nederlandse band uit Hoorn die mij de essentie van het origineel liet voelen.

Vangelis lijkt hier een orgelconcert te geven op de begeleiding van een sentimentele Demis die met zijn vriendje de nacht op stap is.
Demis heeft zeker wat aanstellerigs maar het is vijf uur in de ochtend en als ik dan nog wakker ben dan ben ik ook vaak niet nuchter meer door teveel drank of tekort aan slaap. Dat doet mij ook aan die andere zanger denken die ook vaak aanstellerig is. Die man van, zoals 50tracks het zo mooi wist uit te drukken, interessanterige theatrale kleinkunst.

Aphrodite's child hebben er een heel mooi liedje van gemaakt. Ze hadden wat mij betreft met deze single minstens 150 plekken hoger mogen staan op de RYM-lijst.
