Mijn top 20 dan, wat heeft het wel gehaald. Één hit uit 1989 die helaas in 1988 al uit blijkt te zijn gekomen, een cover van een Nederlands nummer door een amerikaanse band en een origineel van een nummer dat diezelfde band later zou coveren. Verder waarschijnlijk het enige jaar dat gospel m'n lijst haalt.
Overigens bij 2 nummers een klein beetje vals gespeeld, zowel bij Amy Grant als Pet Shop Boys zijn de albumversies superieur aan de singleversies. Vooral die laatste, wat een sensatie toen ik die hoorde van Introspective. De single ook prima maar toch wat minder opbouwend en daardoor minder indrukwekkend.

Mijn Top 80 is weer met de post mee, 1989 is een leuk jaar maar gemiddeld genomen wel de minste van de 80´s. Maar goed dat is slechts een beetje zeuren om het zeuren want er staan meer dan genoeg prachtige nummers in mijn lijst. De eindlijst zal vast minder gaan worden, vooral behoorlijk eenzijdig vrees ik...

Bij mij staan in de hoogste regionen in ieder geval de nodige drama, een goddelijke zoon, vrouwenwerk, wat puurs en uiteraard een single die wellicht bekender is in zijn 1991 versie.

1989 is bij mij wat minder eenzijdig, hoewel, wel 2 acts met 2 nummers in de lijst
De helft komt uit de UK maar bij de andere helft horen ook Nederland, IJsland, Australië en Nieuw-Zeeland. 4 nummers door een man gezongen. Overigens heeft het gros van de acts al eerder in een 80s jaarlijst van mij gestaan.
