Ach Damon maakte voor dan weer het album van het jaar en waarschijnlijk niet alleen voor mij, met 5 verschillende nominaties (zelfde aantal voor The War on Drugs) ben je dan ook topscorer.

Na al die fraaie projecten vond Damon het dus eindelijk tijd voor een solo album, Everyday Robots werd een mooi ingetogen werkstuk, waarvan dit nummer best een van de hoogtepunten genoemd mag worden.
Coctail jazz tempo en die lekkere zwoele strijkers laten een relaxte Albarn horen die ons mooi zingend meeneemt, wat heb je meer nodig op zo’n zaterdagochtend.

De video schijnt gemaakt te zijn op diverse wereldlocaties met zijn eigen Ipad.

Gedurende de week was dit lang de koploper , op de slotdag ging het toch nog mis en gaat de hoogste eer naar een ander nummer.

...And Then You Shoot Your Cousin (2014) vind ik nog steeds een prachtig album en een van de paradepaardjes moest dan ook bij mij op 1 eindigen.
Never is na het intro het eerste liedje van het album en wat wordt je weggeblazen
Never is nauwelijks nog hip hop te noemen , dit is een smeltkroes van allerlei prachtige ideeën die wonderwel niet weten te ontsporen, met Patty Crash hebben zij weer een goede zangeres binnengehaald.
De overtreffende trap is wat mij betreft de uitvoering bij de introductie van in de Jimi Fallon show (ha, ha zijn daar ook de huisband) man , man, wat geweldig.

The War on Drugs gaan ook met alle prijzen van 2014 aan de haal, niet te stoppen die gasten.

Relaxte opener van Lost in the Dream en wat doet Granduciel’s stem aan Dylan denken, knap toch altijd weer dat The War on Drugs met die langere instrumentale intermezzo’s toch blijven boeien, het heeft ook iets hypnotiserend de magie van The War on Drugs en wie o wie had er anders in 2014 moeten winnen.

En daar is nummer 6 en gelukkig is het deze en niet The Roots..dat had een anticlimax geweest...

Ben ik opnieuw de enige met Foxygen? Ga deze geweldige groep toch ontdekken mensen!
