En Arcade fire blijft er maar in.. Het zal me altijd een raadsel blijven wat er nu zo superieur aan die plaat is. Of misschien valt het kwartje ineens wel een keer, maar tot nu toe heb ik al mijn pogingen steeds gestaakt na een paar nummers. Die zang irriteert te veel (waar ik bij The Cure dan weer geen last van heb, maar daar helpen die baslijntjes ook erg mee) en de liedjes vind ik te weinig bijzonder.
Ja, ik weet dat ik daar alleen in sta en dat het blijkbaar een blinde vlek van mijn smaak is.
Hetzelfde geldt in wat mindere mate voor The Smiths.

Hunky Dory is mijn nummer 3 en ik vind het, zoals eerder al genoemd, dus wel tot zijn top platen horen.
Waar zijn platen bewust vaak erg van elkaar verschilden in stijl, vond ik Hunky Dory en Ziggy Stardust aardig op elkaar aansluiten. Lichtpuntje in een verder wat saaie top 5. Hoewel Sgt. Pepper's, en oké die computer ook, wel een klassieker is natuurlijk.

Had Prince één plek hoger staan in mijn eigen lijst, één plek lager dan Donna Summer want die heb ik veel vaker beluisterd. Overigens vind ik beide albums niet het beste werk van de desbetreffende acts.

Nummer 4? Aj... Hoopte op een top 3-notering voor The Smiths. The Beatles waarschijnlijk op 3 dan. Arcade Fire op 2 en dan Radiohead op 1.

Een mooie prestatie van Prince, niet meer dan verdient ook!
Nog drie subtoppers (allen 4,5*) in de race. Ik verwacht op drie The Beatles, op twee Arcade Fire en op één Radiohead. Ik hoop daarentegen dat The Beatles er eens met de overwinning vandoor gaan.
