Een mengelmoes van oprecht jeugdsentiment (so true), latere ontdekkingen en een portie puberale rebellie.

Na lang wikken en wegen, heb ik Coda van LZ toch niet in mijn lijst opgenomen, omdat het totaal geen materiaal van de jaren 80 bevat. legian heeft het wel gedaan, en ik snap waarom, want het is een geweldig album.

Tijd voor punk Het cliché gaat dat de jaren tachtig het minste decennium zou zijn. Nu moet ik eerlijk bekennen: voor mij geldt dat ook een beetje. Zit ingeklemd tussen de jaren zeventig, waarvan ik vooral een enorme liefhebber van krautrock, en de briljante jaren negentig, waarin onder andere hiphop echt lossloeg en ook de lofirockachtige bewegingen en emo/screamo een aantal van mijn grote favorieten hebben voortgebracht. Gelukkig hebben de jaren tachtig dus interessante punk, en natuurlijk Tom Waits.
