Net niet de hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer maar wel met stipstipstip. Sage gooide voor dit album het roer enigszins om, korte puntige rocksongs werden wat meer gecompliceerde langere nummers. De plaat werd een belangrijke in de ontwikkeling van de Amerikaanse undergroundmuziek en werd als invloedrijk genoemd door Thurston Moore en Kurt Cobain.

Ah, OMD en zeker Wipers had ik eigenlijk niet meer verwacht. Dat valt mee.

Die plaat van Echo and the Bunnymen kon ik nooit zoveel mee, maar ben hem wel iets meer gaan waarderen. Maar nog geen top 15-materiaal voor mij.

Onderhand al 6 overeenkomsten en er komen er nog wel 2 bij verwacht ik. Biedt iemand meer?

Het kostte The Cure veel moeite deze plaat te maken. Gemoedstoestand, motivatie, ruzies, het leidde tot weer een vertrekkend bandlid, toetsenist Matthieu Hartley. Diverse studio's werden uitgeprobeerd, het werd toch weer Morgan's, ook de studio voor Seventeen Seconds.
