Netjes van Maiden, maar Kimmie had wel een stukkie hoger gem...óeten, gij geboefte!

Twee matches deze keer: het worden er elk jaar minder. En ik voorzie dat dat de komende jaren nóg minder gaat worden. De gouden en zilveren plak stonden van tevoren al vast: alleen wie welke zou ontvangen was (voor mij) nog even afwachten. Gelukkig heeft de beste gewonnen. Wipers is een behoorlijke verrassing, evenals de 21e plaats voor de ontoegankelijke bak herrie van Glenn Branca. Een 27e plaats voor de leukste/lekkerste zangeres in de geschiedenis van de popmuziek valt me ook niet tegen. Wel de 51e plaats voor het beste album van 1981, slechts één plekje hoger voor een album dat ik vorig jaar heb ontdekt en waar ik zwaar van onder de indruk ben: tof dat die er ook instaat! Dat echter niemand naast mij heeft gekozen voor de plaat waarop het beste nummer van 1981 staat (zelfs niemand in hun lijstjes die doorlopen tot 25 of zelfs 40 titels) is ook een fikse teleurstelling. Dan hadden ze destijds zelfs op Pinkpop een nog betere smaak.

Aan de top een iéts sterker jaar dan 1980, aangezien ik in dat jaar Black Sabbath op de 3e plaats rangschikte met 'Heaven And Hell' en dit jaar op de vierde plek. Tegenover elkaar kies ik eerder voor dit album: donkerder, duisterder, onheilspellender, ontoegankelijker, van die woorden. In de breedte heb ik dan weer een lichte voorkeur voor 1980 met meer albums die ik een 4* of meer zou geven.

Speciale vermelding voor het Japanse Loudness, want die LP is, samen met een verzamelaar van Uriah Heep, mijn oudste herinnering (ergens rond 1986) dat ik met mijn pasje voor ƒ1,- mocht lenen in de plaatselijke bibliotheek in Wieringerwerf. LP’s lenen bij de bibliotheek: er zouden in de daarop volgende jaren letterlijk nog duizenden lp-leningen volgen, verspreid over diverse bibliotheken in drie provincies. Bijna al mijn zak- en bijbaangeld ging er aan op (het resterende aan tapetraden en tweedehands vinyl). Damn, wat heeft de huidige generatie het tegenwoordig met Spotify, YouTube, Bandcamp e.d. het belachelijk en schandalig makkelijk (en goedkoop!). Enkele jaren later, toen de bibliotheek de lp’s ging saneren en volledig overging op cd’s, was ik er als de kippen bij om voor die lp weer ƒ1,- te betalen, maar nu om te houden. Alsof er in dat boerengehucht iemand anders een bal zou geven om Loudness. Nog steeds mijn favoriete plaat van deze Japanners, want net als die plaat van Black Sabbath is-ie donkerder, duisterder, onheilspellender, ontoegankelijker: van die woorden
