Allicht een aantal unieke noteringen; dat Dimanche á Bamako daar ook bij hoort, verbaasde me erg, maar een check leert mij dat men inmiddels besloten heeft dat die uit 2004 komt. Gemiste kans aldaar.

Omdat ik een surround freak ben kocht ik de dvd-audio In Absentia ‘blindelings’ en werd weggeblazen door Porcupine Tree. Daarna volgde Deadwing. Op MuMu heb ik nog de 20-stemmen mijlpaal geïntroduceerd. 20 stemmen-mijlpaal - MusicMeter.nl was een van mijn eerste nominaties want had nog geen 20 stemmen…. Een onbekende band was het toen…. En nu inderdaad zelfs met een nummer in de Top 2000. Nog mooier zou zijn in de finale van de MuMe Top 2000. Het titelnummer is overigens mijn favoriet van dit album.

Ja, ik weet nog wel dat jij indertijd een soort Porcupine Tree-ambassadeur alhier was. Ik was ook ergens rond het uitkomen van In Absentia aan boord gekomen. Inmiddels is Steven Wilson al lang niet meer van een enkele voortzegger hier afhankelijk. Het nog grotere succes dat hem met de opvolger ten deel viel is hem verder van harte gegund, maar bij mij werd daarmee de neergang wel ingezet. Denk dat Fear of a Blank Planet mijn 2007-lijst nog wel haalt, maar een topnotering zal dat niet zijn.

Prima jaar, ook het jaar waarin ik zowel dEUS als LCD Soundsystem als Patrick Wolf live zag in het Rotterdamse Nighttown (het gebouw waarin tegenwoordig alweer een tijdje een Chinese supermarkt zit). Allemaal artiesten die ik daar hun beste optreden heb zien geven. Door dat dEUS-concert behoren Include Me Out en The Real Sugar nog altijd tot mijn favoriete dEUS-nummers.

Het album van LCD Soundsystem haalt het overigens puur op basis van de bonusCD met hun eerste 12"'es verzameld daarop. Die bonuscd scoort 5*, het reguliere album viel me destijds eigenlijk best tegen en vind ik misschien wel hun minste.

Dat die van Jens technisch gezien geen studio-album maar een verzamelaar is, kwam ik pas na een jaar of 10 achter. Vandaar dat ik hem toch maar hier heb opgenomen.

Verder heb ik Silent Alarm destijds compleet grijsgedraaid (ik vermoed dat ik alleen die van Madonna nog vaker heb gehoord). Ik kon de plaat wel dromen, maar na 2006 is ie nauwelijks de kast nog uitgeweest.

Dat See Mi Yah en Dropsonde de top-15 niet halen is wellicht niet heel verbazend.. maar dat ik de enige ben die op ze gestemd heeft..??

Ik neem aan dat je 2024 bedoelt met de lijstjes 2006-2023 en niet dat 2006 het laatste jaar is?

Ik zag dat het voor interpretatie vatbaar is. Maar rekende op jullie scherpzinnigheid. Je stelt me niet teleur.

Al heb ik maar twee matches, deze Top 15 is gelukkig een heel stuk beter en vooral diverser uitgevallen dan die zouteloze lijst van 2014.
Alleen Common en Nujabes staan hier niet in de kast en terwijl ik nu luister naar Common zou daar best wel eens verandering in kunnen komen. Ik associeerde zijn naam altijd met slappe soul en dertien-in-een-dozijn rap ofzo, ik weet niet precies waarom ik nooit de moeite nam om naar hem te luisteren, maar het bevalt me nu in ieder geval prima. Dank voor deze opfrissing van mijn nergens op gestoelde vooroordelen. Al zou het toch nóg gaver en origineler zijn geweest als het standaardbuitenbeentje op #15 Venetian Snares geweest zou zijn. Of had ik Riverside nou maar vijf plaatsen hoger in mijn lijst gezet...
