Heren (Metalheads) , tot dusver bedankt voor jullie enorme enthousiasme qua deelname en stukjes tekst als toevoeging: top ! 
Er valt heel wat te kiezen en jullie deelname en info. maakt dit topic erg interessant, ook voor de meer 'groentjes' en de meer zwevers zoals ik die (een grote) interesse in metal hebben , maar door leeftijd of tijd(gebrek) lang alles nog niet kennen.
'Halverwege' toch alweer 14 deelnemers en een vracht aan albums uit 1991.
Er valt heel wat te kiezen en jullie deelname en info. maakt dit topic erg interessant, ook voor de meer 'groentjes' en de meer zwevers zoals ik die (een grote) interesse in metal hebben , maar door leeftijd of tijd(gebrek) lang alles nog niet kennen.

Moet zeggen dat ik het een erg leuk topic vind, waar vooral veel oude herinneringen bovenkomen. Veel materiaal heb ik sinds lange tijd weer eens geluisterd (of zelfs opnieuw aangeschaft). Daarnaast ook een aantal erg leuke ontdekkingen gedaan. Dus ook een bedankt richting jou Cured

Een stuk makkelijker dan de voorgaande jaren. Absolute klapper is wat mij betreft Streets. Fenomenaal van de eerste tot de laatste noot. De rest van de punten geef ik aan Sepultura, Ozzy, Skid Row en good old Saxon. Die verrasten vriend en vijand met een puik album. Net buiten de punten gebleven zijn Death (Human), Metallica (Black album), Coroner (Mental vortex), Armored Saint (Symbol of salvation), Helloween (Pink bubbles go ape) en Motorhead (1916).

Alweer een mooi jaar. Streets en Parallels zijn juweeltjes van twee favoriete bands. Daarachter komt eerst Testimony of the Ancients, een waanzinnig Death Metal album van eigen bodem. Metallica doet ook weer mee en het laatste punt gaat naar het industriële Skrew met Burning in Water, Drowning in Flame. Hier net geen punten voor Human, Angel Rat, Gothic en Symbol of Salvation.

Ik moet zeggen dat ik Streets (A Rock Opera, het zegt het al) een stuk minder Metal vind dan zo'n Human, maar smaak geeft duidelijk zo als bij alles de doorslag (en veel deelnemers met proggy/'lichtere' inslag).

5. Arise - (Sepultura) : 21 punten

4. No More Tears - (Ozzy Osbourne) : 22 punten

2. Human - (Death) : 34 punten

Human is een waarlijk essentiëel hoogstandje, waarmee Chuck Schuldiner heeft bewezen, dat er ook op death metal-gebied, uiterst geniale muziek is gemaakt. De stijl van dit album zou nog verder uitgewerkt worden op de 3 opvolgers die nog zouden komen.
Zéér verrassende en behoorlijk technische death-metalplaat. Na 3 compromisloze death metal-platen, gooide Chuck het met Human over een geheel andere boeg. Vanaf dit album ben ik het werk van Death dan ook écht gaan waarderen. De nummers klinken briljant en doordacht en ondanks dat er behoorlijk technische stukken op staan, klinkt het zeer pakkend. Binnen de 8 nummers die stuk voor stuk al erg sterk zijn, gebeurd er ontzettend veel: tempowisselingen, geniale riffs en solo's etc...Gewoonweg een superplaat met knallers als "Flattening of Emotions", "Suicide Machine", "Lack of Comprehension" en het bloedmooie "Cosmic Sea".De goede, maar ook ietwat 'gore' productie, geeft het album een lekker rauw randje mee, wat een positief effect heeft op de muziek.

De voorgaande vijf hebben hem nog niet genoemd, dus daarom zal ik dat maar doen. The Crimson Idol pakt de vijf punten met grote overtuiging, wat een hemelse plaat. Geen punten voor Maiden dit jaar, met een van hun slechtste albums naar mijn mening. De rest van de punten wordt dit jaar verdeeld over het zwaardere Death/Doom/Sludgde/Stoner/Gothic werk van Paradise Lost, Neurosis, My Dying Bride en Sleep. Met name van de heren op plaatsen 2, 3 en 4 gaan we de komende jaren nog veel mooie platen voorbij zien komen!

Paradise Lost breekt nu echt door en qua prog metal is het een top jaar met Dream Theater, Psychotic Waltz en Shadow Gallery. Suicidal kan ik niet omheen. Dan blijven de vaderlandse releases van Gorefest en The Gathering zonder punten. Dat geldt ook voor Maiden, die dan niet meer op hun best zijn. Megadeth doet het wel beter dan Maiden, maar mist de boot toch. Het is ook het jaar van de eerste Body Count, een typisch gevalletje vreemde eend.

Ik wil Kyuss best vervangen, maar volgens mij is het een beste bak (stoner) metal!
In iedergeval meer metal dan bijvoorbeeld Shadow Gallery en Dream Theater...
