Fascinerende, inspirerende lijst, aerobag! Daarmee ga ik eens op mijn gemakje op de onbekende krenten kauwen. Als eerste Ghédalia Tazartès en... ❤️ at first hear! Echt... WAUW!!! Bullseye!

Mijn lijst is wat eenvormiger en minder eclectisch, want na wat mindere jaren beginnen hardrock en metal uit het dal te kruipen, dus ik heb ze de volle ruimte gegeven in mijn lijst. Evenzogoed en zonder voortrekken zijn mijn nummers 1 t/m 3 met afstand het beste dat er in 1979 is verschenen, of mijn nummer 1 nu wél of niet live is opgenomen (met het nodige sleutelwerk in de studio). Weinig medestanders die zich ook laten ontketenen in het Oosten, maar gelukkig kan Johnny Marr dit in ieder geval beamen. Verder vond ik de (post)punkplaten van 1979 over de gehele linie veel gaver en vetter dan hét punkjaar 1977. Veel titels vielen nét buiten mijn Top 15. Met name het album van Chrome vond ik woest indrukwekkend: wat een bak gruizige garagenoise! Iemand op MM noemde het industriële zombiegaragepunk: 'n perfecte omschrijving.

Raar dat Philip Glass de Top 15 niet heeft gehaald. Weliswaar modern klassiek, maar ik had verwacht dat deze mijpaal en ultieme klassieker in het minimalisme meer onthaald zou worden in een muziekcommunity als deze. Maar op geen ende na dus. Zelfs Sheik Yerbouti niet, lang niet zelfs: dat vind ik een collectief falen, schaam is jullie deel. Dat ook geldt voor de positie van de beste 70s studioplaat van Thin Lizzy. 87e? I am waiting for an alibi wat hier de reden van is. Otherwise I got to give it up.

Maar wéér is de nummer 15 van de lijst een fijne verrassing tussen de usual suspects. Je zou bijna denken dat zaaf het erom doet. Dank weer voor de coördinatie!

Wel leuk dat Tantra en Gino Soccio vaker genoemd zijn, had ik bij die eerste niet verwacht. Wel van Holger Czukay eigenlijk.

Ach, Tantra helemaal vergeten! Niet bij stilgestaan, maar toevallig begin dit jaar ontdekt (in de kringloop gevonden) en ik vond het geweldig. Toffere high energy disco dan de plaat die Donna Summer in 79 uitbracht en mij bij herbeluistering helaas iets tegenviel. Had bij mij ook zeker een plekje gekregen.

EDIT: en nu pas zie ik dat ik toen ook Gino Soccio had meegenomen. Ik kwam toen een hele partij van die high energy platen tegen: heel veel blind (doof) meegenomen, of op basis van vluchtig luisteren via YouTube. Die Gino is inderdaad ook erg tof!
