Weer heel wat variaties in de lijsten van 1988 zijn er te zien. En mooi dat het allemaal zo uitgerekend is, dank aan Zaaf daarvoor.
Daarmee zie ik ook dat ik helaas toch weer niet precies alles op een rijtje had. Want Enya met Watermark had zeker in mijn top 10 gemoeten.
Wat me verder opviel bij mijn nummer 1 is dat niemand dit album heeft genoemd. Ik kan mij nog goed herinneren uit die tijd dat ik Dare met Out of the Silence een geweldig album vond en veel heb gedraaid. Het AOR-genre was in die tijd en in de jaren daarvoor best wel in de mode met bands als REO Speedwagon, Journey, Foreigner om er maar eens een paar te noemen. Zij hadden grote hits gehad en sleepten vele nieuwe bands mee de hitparades in.
Toen ik m'n lijstje voor 1988 moest maken had ik Dare al gelijk opgeschreven. De eerlijkheid gebiedt me te zeggen dat het enthousiasme van toen inmiddels wel wat getemperd is, dat geldt trouwens voor heel het AOR-genre. Maar toch kon ik het niet laten om 'm fier bovenaan de lijst van 1988 te zetten.

Ze bleven dus steken op #16 , #18 en #23. We kwamen net een metalhead te kort om in ieder geval Q'rÿche en Metallica in de eindlijst te loodsen. En Queensrÿche scoorde meer nummer 1-plekken dan de nummer 1 in de Top 15, dus eigenlijk gewoon een betere plaat dan die van de Pixies, alleen weet niet iedereen dat.

Maar wat erger is: ik was De Blauwe Tuin vergeten! Tsjongejonge, die was zeker in mijn Top 5 beland.

Aangehaakt vanaf 1988. Ben duidelijk gericht op hiphop, maar in de collectie is 1 op de 5 releases een ander genre. Dat is in mijn lijstje van 1988 dan weer helemaal niet te zien haha. Bedankt voor de uitstekende tip, het is een erg fijne plaat! Ik snap voor de duiding waarom je de grote AOR namen er bij dropt maar heel dicht bij dat geluid komen ze ook niet vind ik, Dare heeft een veel meer Europees geluid, muzikaal rijker en minder gelikt. Opvallend (of juist niet...) is dat de single Heartbreaker weer enorm Amerikaans klinkt.
