Kayo Dot en The Angelic Process ook trouwens.

En dan had ik nog niet eens gedacht aan de Th' Legendary Shack*Shakers, Stuurbaard Bakkebaard en (weer!) Sandy Dillon.
Ook niet gedacht aan Neurosis & Jarboe en Diamanda Galás trouwens, en al zijn dat niet mijn favoriete albums van hen, dat zijn wel de grootste omissies in mijn [bubbling [further] under]lijst.

Jouw #6 zegt me dan weer helemaal niks, dus die gaat zo aangezwengeld worden. Ben benieuwd!

Wat een opluchting dat mijn #1 ook zonder m'n deelname op die plek geëindigd is. Wat een plaat!

Net zoals bij 2002 zou ik misschien wel tot 10 a 15 geraakt zijn nu ik de titels van deelnemers zie. Veel van die exemplaren ben ik gewoon niet tegengekomen in mijn zoektocht. I tried.

Leuke presentatie alweer Zaafmans!

2003 was wel een belangrijk jaar voor m'n eigen smaakontwikkeling binnen de hiphop. Enerzijds al gauw fan van grote commerciële releases (zoals 50 Cent of Jay-Z) die simpelweg knallen, anderzijds steeds meer artiesten ontdekkende die alleen binnen het genre hun credits kregen. CunninLynguists en Immortal Technique waren daar in dit jaar belangrijk in.
Laatstgenoemde nog bijna de algehele top 15 gehaald, had ik niet verwacht.
Twee matches: Opgezwolle en Viktor Vaughn.
Verbazingwekkend weinig stemmen voor Jaylib. Dilla en Madlib doen het hier meestal toch wel goed, dus deze gezamenlijke klassieker had ik ook wel in meer lijstjes verwacht. Gruwelijke plaat.

De match van The Gathering was de verrassing die op voorhand alles goed maakte, de match met Muse was verwacht - al was die koppositie ook wel weer wat overdreven. Verder zat ik er toch wat naast: van Death Cab for Cutie en vooral Massive Attack had ik toch wel wat meer verwacht.Ah, was jij dat.

Overigens is, als ik echt terugga naar het jaar 2003, Arena het album dat ik toen ruimschoots het opwindendst vond. Met wat in retrospectief het laatste fatsoenlijke album van Dream Theater zou blijken als goede tweede. Dan weet u dat ook weer.
