Ik was benieuwd hoe de top 250 in tien jaar tijd is veranderd, dus ik heb het eens uitgezocht. Ik kan het nu net zo goed met jullie delen.

En ja, ik heb twee exits gemist. Jammer dan.

Opvallend is dat de prog het veel beter doet dan tien jaar geleden (Marillion, Rush), terwijl hip-hop juist veel slechter presteert. Klopt ook wel dat er tien jaar geleden een grotere hip-hopgemeenschap op de site was.

Verder zijn er veel tweede of derde albums van grote acts die wegvallen. Bands die veel moeten inleveren zijn Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, The Killers. Grote winnaar is waarschijnlijk wel The National.

Bij de Exit-platen zitten er de verwachte namen bij, al moet Moment of Truth gewoon keihard in de Top 250 staan

Lijst wordt er wat alternatiever op heb ik de indruk. Zijn vooral de StuBru/3FM-artiesten die verliezen, en artiesten die je tegenkomt als je je wat meer verdiept in muziek die groeien.

Mis ik nu de nummer 3 van 10 jaar geleden Arrie? Ik zie hem nergens staan.

Pearl Jam. Had ik per ongeluk als nr. 4 maar dat was Coldplay. Aangepast.

Intussen is allicht ook de methode aangepast. Nu tellen alleen de toptienen mee van gebruikers die het laatste jaar (de laatste twee jaar?) ingelogd zijn, tien jaar geleden telde elk ooit ingevoerd lijstje nog mee.

Niet verrassend dat er vooral albums van (halverwege) de jaren '00 uitgevallen zijn. Precies om de reden die Casartelli hierboven aanstipt.

Veel van de albums zijn er inderdaad ingekomen, nadat de regel met actieve gebruikers ingesteld is. Wel zag je daarna dat een aantal albums (o.a. Hounds of Love en Colour of Spring) daarna consequent stegen. En ja, ook mijn nummer 1 is sindsdien richting de bovenste helft van de top 250 aan het bewegen.

En hij staat erin. Het zou me niets verbazen als Amnesiac binnenkort ook weer terugkeert en er dus voor het eerst zeven keer Radiohead in de Top 250 staat.

Hoogste gemiddelde waardering artiesten uit de Top 100:

2. The Smiths (4.16)
3. Joy Division (4,16)

Nog iemand die een artiest weet die buiten de Top 100 valt, maar wel minstens 4,16 of hoger scoort?

Ik merk dat er een aantal opvallende albums nieuw binnenkomen in de Top 250. Zie nu bv. Sunbather, Dog Man Star en Blonde. Tegelijkertijd heb ik ook de indruk dat de lat tegenwoordig aanmerkelijk lager ligt om in de lijst te komen.

Ter vergelijking: Blonde staat in slechts 16 lijsten van actieve gebruikers. Dat was een aantal jaar terug vrijwel ondenkbaar en moest een album in minimaal 20 lijsten staan.

Via de Wayback Machine kun je oude toplijsten terugvinden. Een aantal opmerkelijke constateringen:

2020 versus 2016:
#1. OK Computer: 3077 punten (446x genoemd) versus 2654 punten (380x genoemd)
#2. Dark Side of the Moon: 2238 punten (323x genoemd) versus 1756 punten (246x genoemd)
#250. 133 punten versus 112 punten

In 2015 (het eerste jaar dat de toplijst nieuwe stijl ingevoerd werd) waren de verschillen nog groter. Het minste aantal noteringen was destijds 21 noteringen.

Top 250

Ik heb even 5 minuutjes zitten zoeken door de menu's en forum-topics heen, want ik kan de eindejaarslijst niet vinden. Heb wel een top-10 over 2020 ingevuld, maar geen bericht gehad over de lijst... of wordt die lijst morgen pas gepubliceerd?

De lijst gaat volgens mij om 12:00 online.

De top ligt wel heel erg dicht bij elkaar.

Ik denk niet dat dit de afgelopen jaren al eens zo is voorgevallen.

De top 6 ligt erg dicht op elkaar ja. Daarna een groot gat.

Misschien moet ik The National en Matt in 2021 nog eens een serieuze kans geven.

Ben nu Matt Berninger aan het luisteren. Dit is dus wat men momenteel graag hoort. Rustige, ingetogen muziek, nergens uit de bocht, nergens rafelig of spannend. Zie ook Top2000, idem. Prima om op de achtergrond te luisteren. Valt bij mij in de grote categorie 3,5*.

Het viel me op dat Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley niet in de top 250 staat, maar als je kijkt bij de statistieken heeft deze wel genoeg punten om daarin te komen. Hoe komt dit? Zijn er meer albums die dit hebben?

Het zijn enkel de users die het laatste jaar ingelogd hebben wiens top-10 wordt meegenomen in de top-250.

Zijn er trouwens users die een idee hebben van recente platen die aan deur kloppen van de top-250 om er in te mogen van zodra de vooropgestelde wachttijd achter de rug is?

Enkel Norman Fucking Rockwell! voor zover ik weet, die komt er in augustus mogelijk net in als alle users die hem in de Top 10 hebben gezet daarna nog hebben ingelogd. Maar het zou ook kunnen dat NFR enkele punten tekort komt.

Als ik het goed heb uitgerekend komt NFR! op 98 punten uit dus dan zou die net wat tekort komen
