interessante opmerking; ik heb uitvoerig naar de 50s gekeken en dit viel mij op:
- er zijn minder platen om uit te kiezen dan andere decennia
- zoveel jaren met goede rock n roll platen zijn er niet: vooral 1956 en 1957, en daarna weer
een stuk minder; het is de vraag of je Chuckberry on top uit 59 meetelt als compilatie of als album
- in 1957 strijden wel heel erg veel goede rock n roll artiesten om plaat van het jaar:
Gene Vincent, Little Richard, Buddy Holly, Chuckberry, bijna iedereen die ertoe doet.
- naast rock n roll was het een tijd met veel jazz, vocal jazz, wat folk, wat franse zangers (m/v) en wat blues
- en wat is snobistisch? Frank Sinatra snobistisch? Miles Davis? Billie Holiday? Wat voor de een
'snobistisch' is, is voor de andere goede tijdloze muziek.....

Is jaren 50 rock and roll ook niet gewoon veel meer singlesgericht, in tegenstelling tot jazz?
