Een paar dagen terug kwam ik tot de conclusie dat ik zo’n 60 albums nog nooit in haar volledigheid gehoord heb.
Volgens iTunes heb ik sinds de start van dit topic 112 albums beluisterd. Ik schat dat ik gedurende alle spellen zo’n 150 albums van de uiteindelijke longlist beluisterd heb.
Uit de longlist van 301 albums kwam ik tot een aantal van 114 die ik wel in mijn top 50 zou willen zetten.
Een tweede schifting resulteerde al in 76 albums. En met ‘kill your darlings’ uiteindelijk tot deze top 50 gekomen. Aantal recentelijk (her)ontdekte albums (War On Drugs, DJ Shadow, Leonard Cohen) achterwege moeten laten voor albums die ik al langer een warm hart toedraag.

Tja, ligt er aan lat je laag noemt...
Ik vind het toch heel wat als een album de bij de 22 beste albums hoort, en heb dus ook echt super veel zin in het nieuwe album!

Inclusief het lijstje van sokra (dat ieder moment hier geplaatst gaat worden) is de tussenstand 93 lijstjes.
In tegenstelling tot de eerdere edities zal ik wel echt de deadline vasthouden. Dat wil dus zeggen dat eenieder die nog wil insturen vanaf nu precies één uur heeft.

Woman vorig jaar buiten de top 100 gevallen was, is dit jaar ruimschoots goedgemaakt.

Dus als ik het goed heb, staan er tien verschillende artiesten in de top 10? Leuk, en gebeurt niet vaak!

Jup, 10 artiesten en ieder decennium van 60s t/m 00s is vertegenwoordigd.
10. The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead (1986) | 2210 punten | 29x genoemd
Hoogste positie: 2 | Aantal keer Top 5: 7
Voorronde: 1 | 2013: 10 | 2012: 13 | 2011: 8
Positie na [X] lijstjes: [30]: 44 | [48]: 14 | [65]: 6
Eén van de weinige platen die op dezelfde positie staat als vorig jaar. Zoals verwacht speelden Meat is Murder (155) en Strangeways, Here We Come (184) een bijrol.
Even leek The Queen is Dead heel hoog te gaan scoren, maar dat was mijn rol. Na de overwinning van de 80s-editie is The Queen is Dead wederom, voor de derde keer, de hoogst genoteerde 80s-plaat

En dan gebeurt het dan eindelijk.. The Beatles in de top 10. Zoals ieder jaar zes albums in het vuur en ook dit jaar stonden er daar drie van bij de bovenste 50.
Dat hadden er vier kunnen zijn, maar hun witte album eindigt op een van de meest roemloze plekken: 51.
Rubber Soul (110) en Magical Mystery Tour (139) deden het overigens beter dan ooit. Opvallend, want alle zes Beatles-albums staan hoger dan ooit!
