1. black midi - Cavalcade (1)
Fenomenale tweede plaat van black midi. Een prog/jazz/fusionmeesterwerkje dat op ijzersterke wijze balanceert tussen chaos en hyperactiviteit en aan de andere kant dromerigheid en subtiliteit. The Mars Volta handigt het stokje over aan black midi als nieuwe vaandeldrager van ''oud, maar nieuw''-prog.
2. Fluisteraars - Gegrepen door de Geest der Zielsontluiking (9)
Blackmetal die qua instrumentatie het traditioneel speelt, maar in aanpak iets heel anders doet: lange bezwerende minimalistische composities met een bijna jammend karakter en zelfs wat dronende improvisatiestukken.
3. Lingua Ignota - Sinner Get Ready (2)
Lingua Ignota brengt haar meest indrukwekkende plaat tot nu toe. Minder een pure emotionele slooppartij als het voorgaande werk, maar nagenoeg evenveel intensiteit in een ''aangenamere'' luisterervaring door meer dynamiek in het geheel en kleurrijkere instrumentatie. Fenomenale experimentele folkplaat die de liefhebber van de Nico-platen The Marble Index en Desertshore zeker eens moet beluisteren.
4. Autarkh - Form in Motion (3)
Michel Nienhuis brengt de Dodecahedron-sound naar nieuwe gronden met zijn nieuwe band Autarkh. Ronduit indrukwekkende hybride van industriële blackmetal en IDM met nog een flinke dosis groove. Alsof Dodecahedron, Strapping Young Lad, Autechre en Meshuggah samen in een studio hebben gezeten.
5. LLNN - Unmaker (NIEUW)
LLNN brengt een meedogenloze sludgy hardcoreplaat met monsters van riffs, maar ook fenomenale soundscapes/sound design en melancholische post-metalpassages. Op de oppervlakte een beukplaat, maar het bevat een rijkdom aan subtiele details.
6. Low - HEY WHAT (NIEUW)
Low maakt behoorlijk indruk met een prachtige mix van gigantische dronende industrial- en ambientsoundscapes en bloedmooie folky samenzang. Afstandelijk en intiem tegelijkertijd.
7. The Ruins of Beverast - The Thule Grimoires (4)
The Ruins of Beverast brengt weer enorm doordringende doom met onderliggende blackmetallijnen, maar nu ook met een flinke dosis new wave/gothrock met cleane vocalen. Bij vlagen behoorlijke Type O Negative-vibes ten tijde van October Rust/World Coming Down.
8. Backxwash - I Lie Here Buried with My Rings and My Dresses (5)
Messcherpe plaat die het speelgebied tussen hip-hop, industrial en metal meesterlijk verkent. Ontzettend ongemakkelijke sfeerzetting, monsterlijke beats en een enorm vurige en onder de huid kruipende performance van Backxwash met confronterende teksten.
9. VOLA - Witness (7)
Ronduit episch klinkende moderne synthpopprogmetal. Monsterlijke riffs en dikke grooves in combinatie met prachtige dromerige vocalen en synthesizerlagen, verpakt in waanzinnig catchy songs.
10. Genghis Tron - Dream Weapon (8)
Dit gezelschap bracht een zeer succesvolle comebackplaat uit na dertien jaar. Genghis Tron laat zijn mathcore/grindinvloeden varen en gaat volledig elektronische post-rock/metal met nog een flinke scheut prog en krautrock. Ook ronduit fenomenaal drumwerk dat de plaat naar een hoger niveau stuwt.

11. Ad Nauseam - Imperative Imperceptible Impulse (avant-gardistische deathmetal)
12. Sugar Wounds - Calico Dreams (screamo/blackmetal/shoegaze/grindcore)
13. Injury Reserve - By the Time I Get to Phoenix (abstracte hip-hop/experimentele rock)
14. Suffering Hour - The Cyclic Reckoning (black/deathmetal met een psychedelisch sausje)
15. Nala Sinephro - Space 1.8 (dromerige elektronische jazz met sterke ambientinvloed)
16. Lantlôs - Wildhund (altrock/shoegaze/post-metal)
