Hoewel ik de laatste jaren veel liever losse nummers luister dan complete albums kan ik het toch niet laten hier een lijstje te plaatsen. Soms loont het de moeite wat geduld te oefenen en een compleet album van begin tot einde uit te zitten.

#1 Pumarosa - The witch

Onbetwiste nummer 1. Heerlijke mix van pop, dance, rock en wat voor etiketten je er nog meer op wil plakken. Past voor mij vooral perfect in het vijf sterren hokje.

#2 Solstafir - Berdreyminn

Pas geleden gevonden nadat ik op een duistere site een recensie had gelezen over het album dat terug te vinden is op #6 in mijn lijstje. Stevige rock/metal uit IJsland, gebracht met heel erg veel gevoel. Dat ik niets versta van de Ijslandse (is dat uberhaupt een taal?) teksten doet daar helemaal niks aan af.

#3 Desperate Journalist - Grow up

Het nummer Hollow ontdekt in de mume-afrekening. Bleek voor mij duidelijk geen eendagsvlieg.
Indie-pop met een duister randje.

#4 Ninos du Brasil - Vida Eterna

Grotendeels instrumentaal, maar wordt eigenlijk nergens saai. Verre van dat. Er wordt een spannend onheilspellend sfeertje gecreeerd.

#5 Spoon - Hot Thoughts

Titelnummer gooit de hoogste ogen maar de rest is ook zeker niet te versmaden.

#6 La Scaltra - Freakshow

Heb deze band, bestaande uit twee Duitse dames, ontdekt via de laatste alternatieve 152. De dames werden ervan beschuldigd niet helemaal zuiver te zingen. Klopt misschien wel een klein beetje, maar blijkt (vaak) geen belemmering te vormen. Op dit album een aantal tenenkrommende matige nummers die wat mij betreft probleemloos weggestreept kunnen worden tegen de juweeltjes.
"Gloria" is mijn favoriet op dit moment. Helaas niet te vinden op youtube.

#7 Meursalt - I will kill again

"Beetje vreemd, maar wel lekker", dat gaat zeker op voor Meursalt. Veel rustige, gevoelige nummers die ook een beetje apart zijn.

Eigenlijk is het simpel. Hou je van Scissor Sister dan hou je volgens mij ook van The Gift. Omgekeerde geld uiteraard ook.

Hoewel ik Vitalic eigenlijk veel te kort doe denk ik, kan ik er niks aan doen dat ik steeds aan Moby moet denken als ik naar zijn muziek luister. Lekkere electronische dansbare muziek.

HugovdBos als je Hurray for the Riff Raff gisteren live had gezien in de Paradiso had je ze misschien een flink stuk hoger in je lijst gezet.

Verwacht van niet. Het gaat hier om de beoordeling van het studioalbum, de live prestaties staan daar los van. Zo zijn er geregeld artiesten die live beter presteren dan in het studiowerk, of andersom. De productie vormt in deze ook een belangrijk onderdeel van het uiteindelijke resultaat.

Zo te horen heb je in ieder geval genoten van het optreden en dat is het allerbelangrijkste. Het album van Hurray for the Riff Raff staat met een 8,0 nog steeds op een prima positie in mijn lijst, al is het in de loop van de maanden wel wat weggezakt.

De 305ste dag van het jaar en nog maar 7-9 weken tot aan de kerst / oud jaar. Tot nu toe 489 albums van 2017 beluisterd: 5 scores, 13 live albums, 23 verzamelaars, 87 EP's en 361 reguliere releases. Elk album in de top 100 heb ik tenminste 10x beluisterd en voor de Top 10 het dubbele. De release-lawine van september en oktober lijkt voorbij en tot het einde van het jaar kijk ik nog uit naar 7-8 albums.

Niet alleen mijn Top 10 begint zijn definitieve vorm te krijgen maar ook weinig beweging in de top 50. De eerste nieuweling staat op 64 - The Barr Brothers – Queens of the Breakers met St. Vicent's nieuwe op 66. Nummer 99 is de EP van Bowie die 9 maanden geleden nog op 1 stond. Naast die 2 albums de afgelopen maand ook genoten van: Weaves (ook live gezien), Danny Vera, Then Comes Silence, The Selecter, Jessie Ware, Billy Corgan maar vooral ook veel van Matt Johnson's The The die maar liefst 3 albums uitbracht.

Bovendien tijdens London Calling afgelopen weekend 2 acts met een album in mijn top 10 live gezien, en die stelden niet teleur
