Mijn eindlijst van 2017.

In 2017 verschenen er tal van noemenswaardige albums in de meest uiteenlopende gebieden van de muziek. Toch moesten we ook dit jaar afscheid nemen van een aantal grote namen uit de muziekindustrie, zoals Chuck Berry, Glen Campbell, Chris Cornell, Tom Petty en Sharon Jones. Van laatstgenoemde verscheen in november zelfs nog een album dat het tot de top 100 van de jaarlijst weet te schoppen. Waar 2016 het jaar was dat de overleden artiesten de top van de lijst domineerden, is 2017 het jaar dat de eindlijst uitblinkt in de muzikale diversiteit. Zo zijn de blues, folk, rock, jazz, ambient, neoklassiek en metal vertegenwoordigd in de bovenste regionen van de lijst. Sommige artiesten konden de hoge verwachtingen niet waarmaken. Zo wist Steven Wilson met To the Bone, als de opvolger van het album van 2015 (Hand. Cannot. Erase.), het hoge niveau niet vast te houden. Andere artiesten die met hun nieuwe album hun voorgaande werk niet wisten te benaderen zijn onder andere Asaf Avidan, Beck, Elbow, José James en Queens of the Stone Age. Daartegenover staan tal van artiesten die dit jaar gewoon weer verder gingen waar ze mee bezig waren, namelijk: kwaliteitsmuziek afleveren. De top 20 albums van 2017 wordt gevormd door diep ontroerende muzikale kunstwerken, meeslepende en complexe pareltjes en zware en veelzijdige meesterwerken. Heb ik nog niet eerder zoveel variatie in eindejaarslijsten gezien. Idd veel 'muzikale diversiteit': HugovdBos

2017 was voor mij vooral het jaar van het overlijden van 2 grootheden uit het zuiden van de VS: Gregg Allman en Tom Petty. Gregg zagen we aankomen, maar Tom was toch wel een shock.

Mijn lijst zal geen impact hebben op de totaallijst voor 2017 vrees ik. Echte absolute toppers zoals in 2016 met Nick Cave en Drive-By Truckers bracht 2017 niet, maar er was toch wel een vrij brede groep alleszins genietbare platen:

Maar één ding staat al vast Spinvis' Trein Vuur Dageraad staat daar onaantastbaar op nummer 1.

Sterker nog ik heb even wat op Last.fm in mijn geschiedenis rondgekeken en dit album komt nog net wel / net niet binnen in mijn meest beluisterde album Top 10 van de laatste 5 jaar!

Heb deze nog niet aangeschaft maar dat gaat zeker gebeuren.
